Ron and Moses rang the doorbell and waited. Jessica opened the door, “Hey, come in.”
Moses walked straight pass Jessica and stayed as far away from her as possible while Ron just couldn’t stop talking to her the minute he saw her. Tavia watched as Jessica and Ron chatted away, she really didn’t understand why he was so cold to her at work but so friendly and chatty to his sister.
“So where’s the birthday girl?” Ron asked.
“She should be back soon I guess,” Raymond said giving Moses and Raymond some drinks.
“Late for her own party, tsk tsk,” Ron joked.
Jessica sat on the couch, “It’s a surprise party.”
“Makes sense then,” Ron sat on the couch next to Jessica.
Moses sat on the couch at the far side. Tavia sat down beside him and the both of them stared at Ron and Jessica talking non-stop about nothing, “Look at them two, how can they just talk like that?”
Moses shrugged his shoulders, “Is your sister going out with my brother?”
Tavia’s eyes bulged wide open, “Are they? My sister never told me,” Moses and Tavia watched a little closer, “well it does look like it.”
An hour had passes but Charmaine still wasn’t home. Raymond walked into Charmaine’s room and got out his phone, he dialled Charmaine’s number but it kept going to the voicemail.
“Where is she?” he dialled the number again but it went to the voicemail again.

*Riverside Restaurant, 8:38pm*
Kevin and Charmaine had just finished dinner, “Thanks for dinner.”
“Not a worry, I think I’ve said it before that I will just take it out of your pay,” Kevin joked.
Charmaine laughed a little, “I’ll be right back,” she got up and walked towards the restroom. She took out her phone and only just noticed that it had run out of battery.
Kevin watched as Charmaine walk towards the restroom, he took out a case and opened it up, he smiled to himself looking at the diamond necklace. He saw Charmaine walking back, he stood up and walked towards her, “Shall we go?”
Charmaine nodded her head, the both of them walked towards the car. Kevin held onto the case, they stopped at his car. Kevin prepared himself to give her the present, “Umm…”
Before Kevin could give her the present, Charmaine interrupted him, “Can I borrow your phone?”
Kevin took out his phone and handed it to Charmaine, she began dialling Raymond’s number but it kept going to the voicemail, “Why isn’t Raymond’s phone getting through?” She asked herself and gave the phone back to Kevin, “Thanks.”
Kevin took his phone back, he was rather disappointed and angry at the fact that during the whole dinner the only thing on Charmaine’s mind was Raymond. He unlocked the car and threw the case in the back seat without Charmaine noticing.

*Kingswood Apartment, 9:45pm*
“Where is she?” Tavia asked.
Raymond kept dialling Charmaine’s number but there was no response, he was beginning to panic, he didn’t know if anything had happened to her or not, “I can’t get to her.”
“Should we go find her?” Jessica suggested.
Moses who was about to fall asleep yawned really loudly, “I’m sure she can cope, she’s a big person.”
“Yeh, but she’s usually at home if not then she call and tell us,” Tavia also started becoming quite worried.
Suddenly there was a ringing of the doorbell, “It’s her! Everyone into position,” Jessica whispered.
Everyone hid behind the couch, Jessica switched the light off, she opened the door and hid behind it. Everyone heard footsteps enter the apartment, Jessica switched the light on and everyone jumped out yelling “Surprise!” and threw confetti all over Myolie.
“Wow, a party for me?” Myolie was thrilled and never expected someone to throw a party for her especially when it was a bunch of strangers.
Raymond looked at Myolie, “You’re not my girlfriend.”
Myolie took her coat off and handed it to Raymond, “I just never expected Tavia to throw me this party, I’m so happy.”
Jessica glared at Tavia and murmured, “What is she doing here?”
Tavia shrugged her shoulders, “I didn’t invite her,” Tavia mouthed.
Myolie scanned the apartment filled with decorations, she shook her head, “Bad again, who ever was in charge of decorations did a horrible job.”
Tavia looked over at Jessica with a triumphant grin on her face.
Myolie walked up to Ron who was standing by the couch, “You again? Here for more money I assume? Who invited you to my party?”
Ron scratched his head, “Your party?”
Raymond gave Myolie her coat back, “This isn’t you party. This party is for my girlfriend who is Tavia’s sister.”
Myolie froze, she felt slightly embarrassed but covered it up with a laugh, “I knew that.”
Ron stepped forward, “So that means you can leave now.”
Myolie sat on the couch, “I don’t recall you being the owner of this apartment therefore you have no right to ask me to leave, right Tavia?”
Ron and Myolie both looked over at Tavia wanting an answer. Tavia avoided both their eyes, “I’m going to get some drinks.”
Moses sat back on the couch half asleep. Jessica sat down beside him, “Someone is tired, didn’t sleep well?”
Moses grunted, “Yeh,” he said trying to say as few things as possible.
Raymond stood in front of the door watching Ron and Myolie argue over who should be the one to leave, not even realising the front door was wide open.
Kevin and Charmaine got out of the lift and heard a lot of chattering coming from her apartment. She walked in her front door and stood there with Kevin watching everyone either arguing or chatting.
Charmaine stood next to Raymond who didn’t even notice she was there, “What’s going on?”
Raymond turned around and saw Charmaine standing right next to him. Everyone in the room stopped what they were doing and just paused not really what to do next.
“Surprise!” Jessica shouted throwing confetti over Charmaine’s head.
Everyone else then got up, “Surprise!”
Charmaine had the biggest smile off her face while she dusted off the confetti in her hair, “I never expected this.”
Tavia saw Kevin standing behind Charmaine and quickly yelled out, “This was all Raymond’s idea.”
Charmaine held onto Raymond’s hand, “Thankyou,” and kiss him on the cheek.
Raymond put his hand around Charmaine’s shoulder, “You’re welcome.”
Kevin watched as Raymond and Charmaine together, although it looked like he didn’t mind on the surface but deep inside he was once again filled with anger and jealousy.
Myolie stood up seeing Kevin, “Dai gor? What are you doing here?”
“What are you doing here?” Kevin asked back.
“Dai gor?” Jessica asked shocked not knowing that Myolie was Kevin’s sister, “So that’s who your sister is.”
“How do you know everyone?” Kevin asked.
Myolie linked arms with Tavia, “She’s my best friend.”
Tavia felt a little weird hearing Myolie call herself her best friend but seeing that last time she had already told Jessica that Myolie is the best friend she had to play along with it, “That’s right.”
Moses who was still sitting on the couch made a loud yawn, “Wow, isn’t it great that we are having this gathering.”
The party had started and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Kevin sat on the couch talking to Jessica; from the corner of his eyes he saw Raymond and Charmaine walk outside onto the balcony.
Raymond held onto Charmaine’s hand, “Do you like your party?”
Charmaine smiled, “Didn’t you have to work today?”
Raymond had a cheeky grin on his face, “I’ve got connections.” A gust of wind blew in their direction, “Are you cold?”
“Not really,” Charmaine leaned her head on Raymond’s shoulder and stared at the stars in the sky, “Did you know this is the happiest I’ve been for a long time. Ever since we broke up five years ago, I didn’t feel happy at all. Even when I graduated and got my PhD I thought I was happy but you weren’t there to celebrate with me.”
Raymond put his arm around Charmaine and leaned his head on hers, “Well, I’ll be here for you now, whether it’s the good or bad I promise I won’t leave you,” without Charmaine noticing Raymond slipped something into her pocket.
The both of them sat on the bench looking at the stars, Charmaine lifted her head up and turned to Raymond, “I almost forgot, where’s my present?”
Raymond sat up a little, “I’m your present.”
Charmaine shook Raymond a little, “I know you got me something,” she searched Raymond’s jacket pockets, “Where is it?”
Raymond flipped out his pockets, “See, I didn’t get you anything.”
Charmaine sat back on her chair and didn’t speak to Raymond for a while. Raymond smiled at Charmaine’s angry expression on her face, he sat next to her just looking at her.
Charmaine turned to Raymond and glared at him, “What?”
Raymond turned his head away from Charmaine, “Nothing.”
“Fine,” Charmaine slid to the side of the bench and sat there in silence. She turned around and peaked at Raymond but he was just staring at the sky. Another gust of wind blew in their direction; Charmaine gave a little shiver and put her hands in her pocket. She felt something hard in her right pocket and took it out.
It was a small case; she looked over at Raymond, who was still staring at the sky. Charmaine opened up the case, right before her eyes was the diamond ring, the ring that Raymond gave to her when her proposed five years ago.

hope u enjoyed this chapter... for ppl wondering abot Myolie.. dont worry she's not crazy or anything.. shes a little strange and hangs around Tavia mainly cos she doesnt have any friends and thinks of Tavia as a true friend... anywho.. thanks for reading..
