Charmaine sat in her office during lunchtime, she took the ring out of her pocket and stared at it, she thought about the words that came out of mouth when she was down at the security department.
“What did he mean by that? Was he talking about me? I’m more important than his own life,” she sunk into her own hands, she didn’t understand why things just had to be so complicated, “What is he doing?”
Kevin knocked on the door and walked inside seeing Charmaine with her head down. He immediately ran up to her, “Are you not feeling well?”
Charmaine wanted to find out exactly what Raymond meant, what he said didn’t even make any sense in her mind at the moment, “Can I take the rest of the day off?”
“Do you want me to take you to the doctors?” Kevin felt her forehead.
“It’s ok, I’ll just go home and rest,” Charmaine stood up and grabbed her bag.
“I’ll drive you home,” Kevin’s phone started ringing, “Hello? Sign the contract now?”
“Go…” Charmaine mouthed.
“Call me when your get home,” Kevin mouthed back, “Ok, get everything ready and I’ll be there soon,” Kevin said as he walked out the door back to his office.
*Tower Shopping Centre, 12:51pm*
Charmaine walked down to the main area of the shopping centre. She walked pass the security department, the questions in her head were acting like a drive pulling her towards the control room.
She walked inside to see Kenneth in the control room by himself, she knocked on the door, “Hi.”
Kenneth jumped up, “Hello, you again…”
“Is Raymond Lam here?” Charmaine asked.
“You here to thank him?”
Charmaine looked over at the monitors and saw that Kenneth was replaying the recorded tape from the elevator, “Why are you re-watching that tape?”
“Supervisor wanted me to watch it to see how compatible the new cameras are compared to the old ones...”
Charmaine walked a little closer and watched the monitor, she saw herself in the monitor lying on the ground then suddenly Raymond jumped down from the top of the elevator, although there was no sound but she watched as Raymond hugged her tightly, she could see tears running from his eyes.
“That Raymond, you must be very important to him…” Kenneth turned to Charmaine but she had already run out of the control room.
She ran out of the shopping centre, too many things were going through her head, “What is he up to?”

*Gateway Restaurant, 1:31pm*
Kevin, Jessica and Moses read the contract and all three of them agreed on the details in the contract, “Everything is fine,” Jessica said.
Kevin signed the contract, “Great doing business with you Mr. Leung.”
“Same to you, I have to go now, we’ll meet up for a golf match one day.”
Kevin shook his hand, “Sure.”
All three of them walked outside the restaurant and strolled along the street. Jessica and Moses were clinging onto each other as if Kevin wasn’t there. Kevin sighed, “Look at you two, this is still considered work time you know.”
Jessica stuck her tongue out at Kevin, she turned to Moses, “Can you buy me a bottle of water?”
“Sure,” Moses headed off the connivent store.
Jessica watched as he walked inside then kept on walking with Kevin, “Want to see something funny when Moses comes back?”
“I do enjoy humour,” Kevin laughed.
“You’ll love this then,” Jessica grinned.
Moses walked out of the convenient store with a bottle of water, he walked pass a jewellery store. At the corner of his eye he saw a set of rings displayed at the window. Moses smiled to himself and walked inside the store to the counter, “Hi can I look at the rings at the display window?”
The sales lady showed Moses the pair of rings. In Moses eyes it was perfect, “I’ll take it.”
He walked back outside and met up with Jessica and Kevin. Moses handed Jessica the bottle of water, “Here.”
“Thanks,” Jessica looked at Kevin and winked at him, “Hey Moses, do you remember how you were talking about our future children and stuff?”
“Yeh,” Moses answered.
“Well that got me thinking,” Jessica was trying to hold in her grin, “Do you want to get married? Now?” Jessica waited a while for Moses reaction.
Moses didn’t say anything for a while, he then smiled, “Sure, I think the registry is up that way,” he pointed.
Jessica’s grin had disappeared and turned into shock, “What?”
Kevin watched Jessica’s reaction and thought it was hilarious, “This is funny.”
“I think this is a great idea,” he held onto Jessica’s hand, “although we’ve only been going out for a while but I feel strongly about this relationship and I can’t imagine spending my life with anyone but you.”
Jessica’s eyes had suddenly gone watery, “Really?”
“Yes, were you being serious about getting married now?” Moses asked.
Jessica could feel herself getting butterflies in her stomach, “But we don’t have any rings or people to witness the marriage.”
Moses pulled out the rings he bought, “I guess it was fate.”
“What about a witness for the marriage?”
Kevin put his hand up, “I’m free now.”
Jessica didn’t know what pulled her to do this but at this moment she really wanted it, “We’re really going to do this?”
“If you want then we will,” Moses smooth with his words.
Jessica had a huge smile on her face, “Ok then, we’ll do it,” she pulled Moses and ran towards the marriage registry.
Jessica and Moses filled in a few forms and lined up, they held tightly onto each other, “Can’t believe we’re getting married.”
Moses, Jessica and Kevin waited in one of the rooms. The nerves in Jessica felt like they were about to break. A minister walked in and looked around at the three people, “Are we expecting others?”
Moses stood up, “Nope, just the bride, myself and our witness.”
“Ok then,” The minister began the ceremony.
Kevin sat across from Moses and Jessica.
Moses started reading the vows, “I take Jessica as my wedded wife, to love her in sickness and in health till death do us part.”
Jessica picked up the vows, her hands were shaking like madness, “I take Moses as my wedded husband,” Jessica’s voice suddenly cracked a little, she cleared her throat, she looked him in the eyes and was suddenly calmed by his smile and the love in his eyes, “to love him in sickness and in health till death do us part.”
“You may exchange rings,” the minister instructed.
Moses and Jessica exchanged rings, at this very moment although a simple and very rushed wedding but the love was there and nothing else mattered. Moses kissed Jessica softly and embraced her holding her in his arms knowing this was the right decision. Kevin was extremely happy seeing his best friend marry, he knew if everything went right that one day Charmaine would be his bride.

*The Davidson Apartment, 2:26pm*
Charmaine stood at Raymond’s door; she had been there for about fifteen minutes, just standing there. By this time she didn’t know what she was feeling, she turned around wanting to leave but then turned back around and just stood there again.
Raymond was inside his apartment having no idea that Charmaine was outside, he grabbed his phone and opened his front door. To his surprise Charmaine was standing right in front of him, “Can I help you?” he asked coldly.
“Raymond Lam, what are you doing?” Charmaine asked.
Raymond had no clue what she was talking about, “What?”
Charmaine’s confusion had turned into anger, “What exactly are you doing? Why are you being so distant yet you say things like I am more important than your life? And why did you save me in the elevator if you didn’t care about me? I really don’t get you, all your actions and words are just messing with my mind,” Charmaine could feel tears appearing in her eyes.
Raymond’s heart was once again aching, he had to make a decision now whether to tell her the truth or just let it go, “Charmaine I…”
Charmaine shook her head, “I don’t even know why I’m here,” tears dropped from her eyes, “I’m going to go…” she turned around and ran out of the apartment.
“Wait!” Raymond was about to run after her but another pain struck in his head, he grasped his head and took out his medication, a seconds later the pain was gone, “Charmaine…” he muttered to himself as he ran out after her.

*Kingswood Apartment, 3:09pm*
Charmaine ran into her apartment leaving the door wide open. Tavia walked out of the kitchen she looked at Charmaine, “Hey.”
Charmaine didn’t answer but bumped into her dropping the ring on the floor, she looked up at Tavia blankly, “Sorry,” and continued walking.
Tavia bent down and picked up the ring, “You dropped this,” Tavia looked closely at the ring recognising it was the hers and Raymond’s engagement ring, “Why do you have this?”
Charmaine turned back around and took the ring off her, “I really don’t get him, I don’t get anything… Why are things so complicated?”
“He can’t help it that he’s going to die,” Tavia accidentally blabbed out.
At this time Raymond had just run into their apartment, “Tavia, no!” but it was too late, Charmaine already heard what Tavia said.
Charmaine was confused once again, she looked at Tavia then at Raymond, “Who’s going to die?”
Tavia opened her mouth but Raymond pulled on her shirt, “Don’t…”
“What’s going on?” Charmaine wanted to know what was happening, it was so obvious they were hiding something.
Tavia brushed Raymond’s hand away, she couldn’t handle it anymore, “I’m sick and tired of watching you two like this. You either tell her yourself or I will do it.”
Charmaine was so confused, “Who is going to die?” She looked at Raymond waiting for a response.
Raymond stared into Charmaine’s eyes and took a deep breath, “I’m the one who is going to die.”
