Charmaine held up the ring, “Will you marry me?.”
Raymond never thought Charmaine would suggest them getting married let alone propose to him, he didn’t know if it would be a good idea or not, “I can’t… I don’t even know how long I have to live. If we get married then I die shortly after that, what’s going to happen to you, you’re going to be widowed. I can’t do that to you.”
Charmaine held onto Raymond’s hand smiling as she shook her head, “I don’t care. We were meant to get married years ago but that didn’t work out. It didn’t work out the second time either. We’ve been through so much, I don’t want to waste any more time, I really want to do this,” she placed the engagement ring on her finger, “You don’t have say in this Raymond Lam.”
Raymond gave up, he wrapped his bandaged arm around Charmaine and held her tightly, this was probably the best gift he could ever ask for before he died.
Charmaine sunk into Raymond’s embrace, at this point she knew she made the right decision despite what some people may say. She knew as long as they loved each other, time wasn’t factor. Raymond and Charmaine held onto each other for a long time, Charmaine’s phone started ringing, she let go of Raymond and picked her phone up.
“Yi Gai Jie, I forgot the electric bill statement. It’s on the kitchen bench, can you bring it to me?” Tavia asked.
Charmaine sighed at her sisters forgetfulness, “How can you forget to bring it when that was the only reason you went out. I’ll bring it to you.” Charmaine hung up the phone and turned back to Raymond, “You heard it… I’ll be right back, in the meantime you can get some rest since your not fully recovered.”
Raymond pouted his lips, “I want to go with you.”
“No,” Charmaine said assertively, “Stay home and get some rest.”
“Wow, so wifely already, what are you going to turn into when we get married,” Raymond joked.
“I’ll be right back,” Charmaine kissed Raymond goodbye and grabbed her bag leaving.
Raymond took the chance to unpack his things, which he found quite difficult with one hand and not being able to walk properly. A while after Charmaine left the doorbell started ring. Raymond grabbed his walking stick and limped over opening the door to see Kevin standing outside.
Kevin looked coldly at Raymond, “Where’s Charmaine?” without invitation Kevin walked inside the apartment, “Where is she?”
“She’s out,” Raymond knew him getting back together with Charmaine would hurt Kevin but when it comes to love its hard to say who is right or wrong, “Mr. Cheng…” Raymond said but he was cut off by Kevin.
“Raymond Lam, you have some nerve you know. You hurt Charmaine not only once but twice and now your back with her, what are you playing at?” Kevin asked.
“I know you’re angry that we are together again. All I can say is that I’m sorry,” Raymond felt really bad and knew how Kevin must of felt.
Although Kevin really wanted to hurt Raymond but he stayed calm because at the moment he knew rage wasn’t the answer yet, “You know Charmaine will just hurt more once you die, do you really want her to go through that?” Kevin turned towards the front door, “Don’t be so selfish Raymond Lam,” and then he left the apartment.
Raymond did think Kevin had a valid point and that was what he is most afraid of if he did marry Charmaine, he sat on the couch and Kevin’s words were resounding in his head. He suddenly thought about the last thing Kevin said, “When I die? How does he know I’m going to die?” Raymond thought it was weird how Kevin knew.

*Coffee Shop, 4:02pm*
Tavia waited outside the coffee shop for Charmaine. Moments later Charmaine came running to Tavia, “Here,” she handed the electric bill to her, “still can’t believe you forgot this…”
Tavia took the statement off her, “Won’t happen next time.”
Charmaine looked at the time, “Well I’m going to go now,” Charmaine turned to leave then turned back to Tavia, “Can you give this to Da Ga Jie,” Charmaine handed an envelop to Tavia.
“Why can’t you give it to her yourself?” Tavia asked not really wanting to go up to the apartment because she was scared of seeing Ron.
“Because I need to do something, please…”
Tavia saw the look on Charmaine’s face, “Fine…”

*Phoenix Apartment, 5:19pm*
Tavia waited outside the front door, “Please be home Da Ga Jie…” she mumbled to herself as she rang the doorbell.
A few seconds later the door opened, Tavia looked up and to her Jessica opened the door, she pulled Tavia inside, “Moses and I are going out, we’ll be back later,” and walked out the door.
Jessica slammed the door behind her leaving Tavia in the apartment by herself. She looked around the apartment hoping Ron wouldn’t be home. She walked towards the rooms and peaked around. Tavia stepped in front of Ron’s room when suddenly Ron opened the door.
Tavia stood there for a while, “Hi,” and quickly ran back to the couch.
Ron took a deep breath and sat across from her, “So… how was your day?” he asked trying to make conversation.
“It’s alright…” Tavia felt so self-conscious at the moment.
Ron knew they couldn’t carry on like this otherwise they would never be able to be in the same room as each other, so he decided to play it cool. He stood up and walked towards Tavia, “Do you want anything to drink?”
“Orange juice would be nice.”
Ron got up and poured a glass of orange juice. He walked back towards Tavia, “Here…” little did he notice his miscalculation of space and tripped on the corner of the coffee table.
Tavia looked up and it was as if it was in slow motion as she saw Ron slowly falling on top of her. Though she felt she had time to move but her mind didn’t function fast enough.
Ron also felt as if he was falling in slow motion, he landed right on top of Tavia spilling orange juice all over her and all over the floor.
“I’m so sorry,” Ron stood back up right really fast but slipped on the split juice and fell on Tavia again this time accidentally kissing her.
It was as if time had stopped, Tavia and Ron stared into each others eyes, it was as if it was an impulse, Ron leaned forward and kissed Tavia again then back away. Tavia’s face had gone all red, she didn’t move or knew how to react, her felt her heart beating really fast as she stared at Ron.
Ron for some reason felt something different, something he had never felt before. It was a sweet feeling inside of him, looking at Tavia made this feeling even stronger; uncontrollably he leaned forward and kissed Tavia again. Tavia suddenly felt that same feeling Ron had and kissed him back.
The both of them suddenly heard keys rattling at the front door and jumped up just in time as Moses and Jessica walked in. Tavia and Ron looked around trying to make it not so obvious that something was going on between them.
Jessica sensed something weird but she couldn’t figure out what it was, “Something weird just happened here,” she gave a suspicious eye to Tavia and Ron.
“Nothing happened,” Ron and Tavia said very in sync.
Moses walked into the kitchen to prepare dinner, “Tavia are you staying for dinner?”
“Umm…” Tavia glanced at Ron, “I uh…”
Ron looked at Tavia and smiled slightly wanted her to stay.
Tavia couldn’t resist but grin a little, “Ok…”
Moses and Jessica finished cook and set the dinner table up. All four of them sat around and started eating. Every so often Ron would glance at Tavia then turn away quickly scared that Jessica or Moses might see. Tavia would also do the same but she mostly kept her head down.
Jessica saw the two of them peaking at each other, she put her food down, “Seriously, what’s up with you two?”
“Nothing is up…” Ron answered.
“Yeh, nothing…” Tavia repeated.
Jessica continued eating knowing something defiantly happened between the two.

*Tower Shopping Centre, 8:39am*
Charmaine returned to work after her time off taking care of Raymond. She stepped into the shopping centre, although she felt uneasy but she still had to work. She walked towards the elevator when she saw Kevin, immediately she turned around and walked the other way but Kevin ran chased after her.
Kevin pulled on Charmaine’s arm, “Where have you been? You haven’t returned my calls.”
Although Charmaine wasn’t going to tell anyone what Kevin did but she was still extremely angry with him, “Do you really think I would want to see or return your calls after what you did?”
Kevin pulled Charmaine close to him and hugged her tightly not letting her go, “Charmaine, I can’t live without you.”
Charmaine was struggling to release herself from Kevin, “Kevin, stop it!” Charmaine yelled, “You can’t be like this, you can’t do what you did and expect me to forgive you. I trusted you.”
Kevin let Charmaine go, his sadness had turned to anger when he saw Charmaine wearing an engagement ring on her finger, “This isn’t about what I did. It’s about Raymond Lam isn’t it?”
“I can’t believe that you still think you’re not wrong,” Charmaine was sick and tired of Kevin thinking he was still right. She didn’t want to explain to him anymore and walked off.
Kevin clenched his fist; he knew that if he couldn’t have Charmaine then no one could.
