Raymond pointed at Sammul who was sitting at the witness stand, “You lied, I didn’t do it, I didn’t give him money.”
Michael stood up, “Objection your honour, there is no proof that my client gave Sammul Chan the amount of money this is only based on his word.”
“I’m not lying, I have the cheque with me. I was going to cash it in today after court because Raymond said that’s when he will transfer the money onto the cheque,” Sammul took the cheque out and showed the judge. The cheque clearly stated that the money was from Raymond Lam with his signature.
The courtroom was filled with whispering. Raymond looked over at Charmaine but she didn’t look back at him instead her face was full of disappointment. Tavia and Jessica both looked at each other not believing Raymond would do such a thing.
The judge banged on the table, “Quiet,” the judge called both the prosecution and defence lawyers to his stand, “What’s going on?”
“Clearly his client paid off the witness to lie in court,” the prosecution said.
“There is no proof that the cheque paid to Sammul was for this,” Michael rebutted.
The judge thought about it and sent them back to their stands, “Because of the situation that has just happened, I’m going to push back the trial date and disregard Sammul Chan as a witness for the defence but what he said will be passed on the police for further investigation.”
“Court,” the courtroom clerk announced and everyone stood up and bowed the judge as he walked back out.
Charmaine got up and walked straight out of the courtroom without ever waiting for Raymond. Kevin watched and knew exactly what was going on, although he hid his smirk really well but for people noticing him he had a happy aurora around him.
Raymond saw Charmaine walked out the courtroom and chased after her while Tavia, Jessica, Moses and Kevin followed.
Raymond pulled on Charmaine’s arm stopping her from walking; Charmaine turned around and slapped Raymond’s face hard just as everyone reached outside.
“I didn’t do it. You know I wouldn’t do such a thing,” Raymond explained.
Charmaine swung Raymond’s hand away, “That cheque clearly had your signature on it,” Charmaine shook her head, “no wonder you kept saying everything will be fine. Its because you paid someone to lie in court.”
“I didn’t so it, you have to believe me,” Raymond pleaded as he grabbed her arm.
“Don’t touch me, I can’t be with someone who is so dishonest,” Charmaine brushed Raymond’s arm away and turned around leaving.
“Charmaine!” Raymond ran after her but she had already jumped into a taxi and drove off.
“Why doesn’t she believe me?” Raymond asked himself.
Tavia, Jessica and Moses walked up to him, “Maybe she needs some time to think it through then she’ll realise that you didn’t do it.”
“Do you guys believe me?” Raymond asked.
“Yes,” the all said very in sync.
Kevin watched from the entrance of the courthouse, at this moment he just really wanted to laugh out loud in front of Raymond’s face and shouting in his face that he had lost.

*Phoenix Apartment, 7:42pm*
Tavia was sitting in Ron’s room while he was researching some stuff on the computer, “Do you really think Raymond would pay someone to lie in court?”
Ron knew exactly what was going on but because of what he and Charmaine were planning to do he had to be in partial, “I can’t give my opinion, you know that.”
Tavia got up and stood behind him, “I trust Raymond, Dai Ga Jie and Moses also trust Raymond but why is it that Yi Ga Jie doesn’t?”
“Well theoretically speaking Raymond could of paid the witness,” Ron said.
Tavia folded her arms not very pleased with Ron’s comment, “So you don’t believe him?”
Ron spun around on his chair and held onto her hand, “Being a police officer you can’t rule out all possibilities. Plus there is evidence.”
Tavia swung Ron’s hand away, “In other words you don’t trust him.”
“Tavia, you’re a police think more logically and you can’t just trust him base on the fact that you know him. People can change you know?” Ron lectured her.
Tavia grabbed her bag and stormed out of his room. Ron jumped up after her, he pulled on her arm stopping her, “Where are you going?”
“It’s not based on the fact that I know him, it’s instinct. Something you taught me, to follow my instinct.”
Jessica and Moses walked out of their room and saw Ron and Tavia arguing, “What are you guys fighting about?”
“Ron doesn’t trust Raymond,” Tavia said.
“I’m basing my argument on evidence,” Ron raised his voice a little.
“Whatever…” Tavia pushed Ron back and walked outside slamming the door behind her.
Ron knew he shouldn’t of argued with her but if he didn’t do that he was scared that his plan might fail.

*Cheng Mansion, 8:48pm*
Tavia sat in Myolie’s room extremely angry with Ron, “Not only does he not trust Raymond but he also thinks I’m wrong in trusting my instincts. Such a hypocrite.”
Myolie sat and listened to Tavia complain, “I knew this day would come. That guy just isn’t good enough for you.”
“Well his not that bad,” Tavia tried defending Ron, “it’s just that I’m so angry with him and also with Yi Ga Jie. I’m angry at the both of them, I can’t believe that they don’t trust Raymond. Ok, fine that Ron doesn’t trust him, its because of his whole stupid work ethics.”
“Aren’t you a police too, why don’t you have these ethics?” Myolie asked out of curiosity.
Tavia cleared her throat, “Anyways… but Yi Ga Jie, this is her husband.”
Myolie had never seen Tavia so angry before, “So what are you going to do?”
“Nothing…” Tavia thought about it for a while, “Actually I feel like hitting someone, that Ron, what kind of a boyfriend is he?”
Kevin knocked on Myolie’s door and walked inside, “Are you doing anything tomorrow?”
Myolie thought about it for a while, “Don’t know… haven’t decided.”
Tavia’s phone started ringing, she picked up, “Hello.”
“Tavia, have you seen your sister?” Raymond asked quite stressed, “I haven’t seen her since court. She hasn’t been home and she’s not answering my calls.”
“Yi Ga Jie hasn’t call me either,” Tavia said, “I’ll try and call her.”
Kevin listened to their conversation; he felt that it was time to make a move. He suddenly remembered that Charmaine had once said when she is upset or angry she liked to go to the peak and watch the sunrise. Kevin decided to take his chances and see if he could find her.

*The Peak, 10:12pm*
Charmaine sat on the bench overlooking Hong Kong, the view was absolutely beautiful. The lights from the buildings were sparkling amongst the sky. Her phone started ringing again and it was Raymond. He had been constantly ringing ever since she left him at the courthouse.
She really wanted to pick up but couldn’t, “Sorry…” she rejected his call again.
Charmaine kept staring at the view, moments later a car pulled up behind her. She turned around and saw Kevin walking out of the car.
Kevin sat next to her on the bench, “Hi.”
“How did you know where I was?” Charmaine asked.
Kevin smiled, “I remember you once said when you’re unhappy or upset you would watch the view and sunrise from here. So I tried my luck.”
Charmaine had a slight smile on her face.
“How are you feeling?” Kevin asked actually concerned about Charmaine.
“I just can’t believe Raymond would do such a thing, I just can’t accept the fact that his using this method to prove his innocence. I trusted him so much,” Charmaine eyes started to fill with tears, “I don’t even know whether I can trust that he didn’t kill Paul Ching.”
“I’m sure he didn’t do it on purpose, he probably just wasn’t thinking,” Kevin tried to comfort Charmaine but at the same time tried making things worst.
“I really can’t be with someone who is like that,” Charmaine sobbed harder, “why did he turn into that kind of person.”
Seeing Charmaine cry felt so heart broken, Kevin knew what he was doing was hurting Charmaine but he knew that this was the way to win her back, “Charmaine… don’t be like that.”
“How can I be with someone who does things like that,” streams of tears were flowing down Charmaine’s cheeks.
Kevin turned facing Charmaine, “Forget about Raymond, what he did was unacceptable. You deserve someone better,” Kevin held onto Charmaine’s hand, “I know I’ve hurt you once and I regret it so much, I promise that I will never do anything to hurt you again, forget Raymond and be with me.”
Kevin wiped the tears off Charmaine’s cheek as he waited for an answer. Charmaine smiled and hugged Kevin. He wrapped his hands around her extremely happy that Charmaine finally accepted him again but it was because he won.
Charmaine hugged Kevin, although it may be cruel to mess with Kevin’s feelings but for what he did she had no choice. The only thing she was worried about now was what would Raymond’s reaction be once he finds out.

thanks for reading.. for those who forgot who Sammul was.. in the beginning chapters he was a security guard who hated Raymond so thats why he was so willing to help Kevin.. also because Kevin gave him money too..
well things r happening.. Ron and Tavia fighting.. Charmaine breaking up with Raymond going back with Kevin.. although Kevin is a bit of a psycho but he actually does love Charmaine.. if it wasnt for the fact he can't lose he would probably let her go..
anywho.. I've got about 4 more chapters to go then i will be finished with this fanfic..
