“Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Hong Kong. The local time here is 9:08am and the weather is cool with just a slight breeze. On behalf of the staff, we hope you enjoyed your flight with us. Thankyou,” The captain said over the loud speaker.
The seatbelt sign had switched off and Moses immediately jumped up from his seat and took his bags and left the plane. The constant chattering of Jessica for the past seven-hour flight was just too much for him.
Jessica followed Moses off the plane and walked behind him towards the immigration area. Moses kept walking and scanned the Hong Kong airport since he hadn’t been back for a few years; he turned his head slightly and saw Jessica behind him from the reflection of a store window.
“Don’t tell me she’s following me,” he mumbled to himself while picking up his pace. He turned his head slightly and looked behind him and saw Jessica picking up her pace and she was still following him. He saw the sign for the mens toilet and quickly turned to go inside.
Moses hid inside for a few minutes hoping Jessica would be gone by the time he went back outside. A few minutes later Moses came back out of the toilet, he scanned around and Jessica was no where in sight. He smiled to himself and strolled outside and lined up at the immigration area. A few seconds later he felt a tapping on his shoulder, he turned around and saw it was Jessica looking at him smiling.
“What do you want?” Moses asked coldly.
“Do you notice anything missing?” Jessica asked.
“What?” Moses searched around his pockets and realised his passport wasn’t in his there.
Jessica handed it to him, “You left it at your seat.”
Moses smiled and took his passport back, “Thanks,” he faced the front of the line thinking Jessica would leave him alone now but she didn’t and continued standing there talking to him.
“So I noticed that you don’t have a Hong Kong passport, how long haven’t you been back here?” Jessica asked curiously.
“A while,” he answered while moving up the line.
“I noticed you carrying a suitcase, are you here on business?” Jessica asked again.
Moses was seriously getting annoyed with the constant chattering and the constant questions, “Yeh.” It was finally his turned to get his passport stamped, he quickly ran to the immigration officer and stamped his passport then walked out of the airport speedily without even saying goodbye to Jessica.

*Kingswood Apartments 39C, 6:11am*
“Charmaine get up!!” Jessica yelled from outside Charmaine’s door, “Get up!!”
Charmaine opened her eyes and reached for her clock and saw it was only 6:11am in the morning. She grabbed her blanket and covered her head with it hoping it would block the sound from Jessica’s yelling.
Jessica banged on Charmaine’s door, “Get up, I’ve got the best news.”
Charmaine took a pillow and covered her face trying to block as much of the sound as possible but Jessica kept on banging on the door. Charmaine got out of bed quite angry from being woken up but she kept lying in bed hoping Jessica would let her sleep.
Jessica ran into her room and grabbed the spare key she copied to Charmaine’s room and opened her door. She ran in her room and jumped on her bed lying down next to her. Charmaine turned around with her semi-awake eyes, “How did you get in my room?”
Jessica ignored Charmaine’s question and placed a letter in front of her face, “What’s this?” Charmaine asked with her eyes still closed.
“Just read it,” Jessica said shoving the letter in her face.
Charmaine rolled over and reached for her glasses then took the letter off Jessica. She read the first few lines of the letter and her eyes bludged wide open, “Marketing Manager? How did that happen?”
“What do you mean how did that happen?” Jessica asked confused.
“To be honest I don’t even want to work there and the interview was a totally joke I think. I didn’t even try nor did I show any remote interest in getting the job, I actually saw a whole lot of other people who were so eager to get this job and they are much more capable than me,” Charmaine said yawning.
“Don’t be so negative,” Jessica said, “and you’re very capable. You have a MBA and a PHD.”
“I only went to the US to study because I wanted to avoid…” Charmaine suddenly stopped talking, she didn’t want to tell Jessica her reason for studying was actually to leave the country to avoid Raymond.
“To avoid what?” Jessica asked curiously.
Charmaine sat up, “Nothing… I don’t think I will take the job. I’m not really that interested.”
Jessica was shocked to hear such a thing, “What? You’re going to come with me today,” Jessica insisted.
“But…” Charmaine tried finding an excuse.
“No ‘buts’…” Jessica pulled Charmaine out of bed, “Get changed we’ll leave in half an hour.”
“But its only 6:21am,” Charmaine said showing Jessica the clock.
Jessica took the clock off of her, “I said no ‘buts’. Get changed.”

*Tower Shopping Centre, 7:26am*
“I’ll park the car, wait inside for me,” Jessica instructed Charmaine.
Charmaine walked inside the Tower Shopping Centre, it was practically empty with only a few cleaning ladies and a few security guards. Charmaine stood near the entrance reading store locations.
“You’re not meant to be here, the shopping centre isn’t open yet,” a familiar voice said to her from behind.
Charmaine turned around and saw Raymond standing behind her wearing a security uniform. Once again she was stunned, she didn’t know how to react, “I’m waiting for my sister…”
“The shopping centre doesn’t operate until 9:00am only authorised staff are allowed in before trading hours,” Raymond said coldly, “Could you please wait outside? Thanks.”
Raymond turned around and began walking back to the control room.
“Raymond Lam,” Charmaine shouted out, without thinking she walked up to him and stood behind him, “I have to ask you something.”
Raymond stopped walking and stood there with his back facing her, he suddenly felt a strange feeling inside of him, he didn’t understand how she knew his name. Raymond turned around and looked at Charmaine.
Charmaine took a deep breath, “How have you been?”
“I’m good,” Raymond answered thinking how strange it was for a random stranger to ask him how he was.
“Umm…you…umm…why…” Charmaine found it difficult to put the words together to make a sentence.
Raymond gave her a strange look, “I have to get back to work, but if you have any problems you can talk to the information desk.” Raymond turned around and started walking again.
“Why didn’t you come?” Charmaine shouted out uncontrollably, she ran up to him and stood in front of him, “Why didn’t you come?”
“Come where?” Raymond asked confused to what she was talking about.
Raymond’s walkie-talkie had begun to beep, “Raymond, there’s an emergency on the level five car park, assistance is required straight away,” someone said over the walkie-talkie to Raymond.
“Be right there,” Raymond turned to Charmaine, “I have work to do, talk to the information people, they can help you,” and left Charmaine standing alone.
Raymond took the fire escape stairs to get to the level five car park. He reached the door leading to the car park and suddenly he heard an alarm system go off from the car park. He ran outside and saw two young men holding onto bats smashing two BMW cars.
“Hey!” Raymond ran towards them and spoke into his walkie-talkie at the same time, “I need backup!”
One of the young guys wearing a blue cap saw Raymond running this way, he stopped smashing the car and aimed his bat at Raymond and took a huge swing. Raymond saw the swing coming and jumped back dodging it, the second guy also took a swing at Raymond. He took a quick step forward towards the guys grabbing his hand with the bat and disarming him. The first guy came back up taking another swing at Raymond but having quickly reflexes Raymond kicked him in the shin making him fall to the ground.
At this time Kenneth came running from the other side of the car park. Raymond suddenly felt a strike of pain in his head, he clenched his head hoping the pain would stop.
“Raymond behind you!” Kenneth shouted out.
Little did Raymond know there was a third person behind him, he turned around and saw the bat swinging his way. It was as if time had slowed down, he had suddenly flashed an image he had never seen before.
#Flashback 5 Years Ago#
Raymond’s body smashed into the oncoming car, breaking the windows then rolled back to the ground. Blood was oozing out of him as he held tightly onto his ring. He turned his head and could see a blurry image of woman standing by the immigration entrance.

Raymond was still just standing there frozen as the bat swung in his direction. Kenneth quickly pushed Raymond onto the ground with the bat missing him by an inch. Kenneth grabbed the third guys arm and tripped him onto ground then hand cuffing his hands together.
Kenneth walked up to Raymond and helped him up, “Are you alright?”
Raymond stood there confused from the images in his head, he couldn’t make clear of the images and only managed to capture a name, he looked blankly at Kenneth, “Who’s Charmaine?”
