Tavia and Ron were patrolling around the area of the Tower shopping centre. For some reason Tavia thought that this was one of the longest shift she’d ever done. Mainly it was because Ron didn’t like to talk during work.
Tavia slowed down and walked beside Ron who was walking fairly slowly behind her, “So what happens after you become Potential Inspector?” she asked trying to make conversation.
Ron scanned the streets thinking that the question was quite pointless, “Well… then I do an exam and if I pass I become an Inspector.”
“Cool…” Tavia said trying to sound interested. She tried really hard to think of something else to say but couldn’t come up with anything and once again they fell into silence.
“Can officers patrolling around the Tower Shopping Centre please attend to the crime scene immediately. Assistance is required,” the control centre reported through their walkie-talkie.
Ron spoke back to the control centre, “PI Ron and partner will attend to Tower Shopping Centre. ETA 3 minutes.”
Ron and Tavia ran up the street to the shopping centre. The both of them entered the shopping centre and walked up to the information desk, “Did someone call the police?” Ron asked one of the information ladies.
“I’ll page security to come down,” the lady said calling security.
Tavia looked around the empty shopping centre to see Charmaine sitting near the elevator by herself, “I’ll be right back,” she told Ron and walked over to Charmaine who was starring at the ground, “Hey sis…”
Charmaine still kept staring at the ground half asleep. Tavia tapped her on the shoulder waking her up from her daydream, “Hey,” Charmaine looked up confused to what Tavia was doing here, “What are you doing here?”
“I’m here for a job. What are you doing here?” Tavia asked.
“I’m waiting for dai ga jie, she told me to wait here and its been an hour and she’s still not here,” Charmaine said yawning out loud.
“She made you wait for an hour,” Tavia could feel herself steaming up with anger, usually she wouldn’t mind but because it was Jessica she felt extra mad, “so typical of her, did you call her?”
“Her phone is switched off.”
Tavia reached in her pocket and took out her phone, “typical, typical… think she’s the queen on the world and everyone has to wait for her,” she complained while searching for Jessica’s office number, “What’s the bet she forgot you were here…”
Ron who was still waiting by the information desk looked over and saw Tavia deep in conversation with Charmaine, “I’ll be right back,” he told the information lady.
He walked up to Tavia and stood right behind her looking over her shoulder to see what she was doing. Charmaine saw Ron standing behind Tavia and tried warning Tavia but she was too distracted in complaining about Jessica Charmaine couldn’t get a word in.
Ron stood closer to Tavia, “What are you doing?”
“Bah!” Tavia squealed a little not expecting Ron to be right behind her, she turned around and gave an awkward smile, “Nothing.”
Ron kept staring at Tavia not moving. The more Ron kept looking at her the more uneasy she would get, she began fidgeting. Charmaine raised an eyebrow and looked over at Ron than at Tavia think how strange everything is.
“This is my sister,” Tavia said randomly.
Charmaine stood up and smiled at Ron, “Hi, she was just giving me something. It won’t happen again.”
“It’s alright,” Ron smiled back then turned around and walked back to the information desk.
Tavia gave her phone to Charmaine and followed Ron, “Call her office.”
Charmaine took Tavia’s phone and dialled Jessica’s office, “Hello, Jessica speaking.”
“Ha! You are in your office,” Charmaine said.
“Who’s this?” Jessica asked not even recognising the voice on the phone was her sister.
Charmaine sighed, “Not only do you not recognise your sisters voice, but you also left you sister waiting downstairs for an hour.”
Jessica stopped doing her work and suddenly was reminded by Charmaine that she was still waiting for her outside, “I’m so sorry, just come straight up to my office.”
Charmaine pressed the button and waited for the elevator. Just as she entered the elevator Raymond and Kenneth walked towards the information desk. Raymond stood at a distance but directly across from Charmaine. Though Charmaine saw Raymond but she knew that there was no turning back between them, the fact that he has limited conversation and treats her like a stranger was a clear answer that he had given up on her a long time ago.
Raymond looked over and saw Charmaine standing in the elevator as the doors closed. Her image had suddenly become more familiar to him, he had defiantly seen her somewhere before but just couldn’t figure out where or when.
“So what exactly happened?” Ron asked as he and Tavia took down notes.
“Well, I had received a call to back Raymond up at the level five parking lot. By the time I got there…” Kenneth began to say.
Tavia was busily taking down what Kenneth was saying. She looked up at Raymond who was still starring at the elevator that Charmaine was in, the more she looked at him the more familiar he became to her. Tavia had never actually met Raymond when he was dating Charmaine but she did see photo’s of him but it had been years ago so her memory of him was quite vague.
“Did you get all of that Tavia?” Ron asked confirming she took everything Kenneth said down. He turned to Tavia who was looking at Raymond, “Tavia!”
“Um… yeh, everything is right…” Tavia said randomly.
“What?” Ron asked knowing Tavia wasn’t paying attention.
“I mean yes sir everything is noted,” Tavia quickly said realising she wasn’t answering Ron’s question.
*Tower General Manager’s Office, 8:57am*
Charmaine knocked on Jessica’s door and waited for an answer.
“Come in,” Jessica shouted out.
Charmaine walked inside Jessica’s office, which was fairly large and furnished, “Ah… you’re here,” Jessica said standing up, “I’ll show you your room.”
Charmaine stopped Jessica, “I never said I’m taking the job.”
“What?” Jessica was shocked to hear such a thing, “but I already organised everything for you. You can’t back out now.”
“I can’t work here, I mean I don’t want to work here,” Charmaine said thinking about not wanting to work at the same place as Raymond.
Jessica pulled her outside, “Why not? If your reason isn’t good enough for me then you will have no choice but to work here.”
“I just can’t… I mean I don’t want to work here,” Charmaine rephrased herself.
“Why do you keep saying you can’t work here, what’s wrong? Something must be wrong? You can tell me,” Jessica insisted.
Charmaine sighed not wanting to answer her questions, she finally gave in, “Fine, show me my office then.”
Charmaine and Jessica were on there way to Charmaine’s office when Jessica’s phone began to ring, “Hello?”
“Hey Jess, I’m just wondering if the new Marketing Manager is there yet?” Kevin asked from the other side of the phone.
“I’m showing her around now,” Jessica replied thinking how weird Kevin was to ask, “Why?”
“Just asking,” Kevin answered trying to be casual.
“Where are you?”
“I’m in Canada now, I’ll be back soon. Are you showing her the office?” Kevin asked again trying to be casual.
Jessica looked at Charmaine who was browsing around the office, “Since when do you care so much about employees?”
“I care about my employees. Look I have to go, call you when I’m back.”
Jessica hung up the phone with Kevin and walked up to Charmaine smiling at her, she knew something was up with Kevin, which had something to do with Charmaine.
Charmaine looked up at Jessica smiling at her in a kind of creepy way, “What are you smiling at?”
“Oh, nothing…” Jessica opened up the doors the Charmaine’s office, “well here you go, you new office.”
Charmaine browsed around, “It’s big but why does it look the same size as yours?”
“Don’t know. Anyway I think we should celebrate, how about me and you dinner tonight?” Jessica suggested.
“So you’re just not going to invite Tavia?”
Jessica rolled her eyes, “Right, Tavia. I guess you can ask her to come too.”

*Gateway Restaurant, 7:12pm*
Jessica, Charmaine and Tavia all exited the elevator to the Gateway Restaurant. Jessica and Tavia had not spoken the whole there, and Charmaine being stuck in the middle really didn’t want to intrude in their silent battle.
“I’m going to the restroom,” Tavia told Charmaine then walked off.
Jessica strolled along and sat down, “Did you see the attitude? I’m her older sister, see how she treats her older sister?” she whispered to Charmaine.
Charmaine gave a little grin, “That’s a nice story.”
“Why is it that you show little interest in our argument?”
Charmaine shrugged her shoulders and picked up the menu, “You’ve known me for about twenty-nine years of my life, you should know the answer to that question.”
Tavia was walking out of the restroom and sending a message at the same time, she was concentrating on sending the message she accidentally bumped into someone dropping her phone.
“Sorry, here let me help you,” a familiar voice said while picking up her phone, “Here.”
Tavia saw it was Ron and immediately stood up straight, “Sir.”
Ron gave her a weird look, “Take it easy, we’re not working you know,” he said handing the phone over to her.
Tavia gave a little smile, “What are you doing here?”
“My brother and I are having dinner but we didn’t make any reservations so we have to wait.”
“I’m having dinner with my sisters, do you want to join us?” Tavia asked.
Ron smiled, “Sure, thanks. I’ll just get him.”
Tavia walked back inside and sat beside Charmaine not even slightly looking at Jessica, “I invited an officer and his brother to sit with us,” she told Charmaine, “here they are.”
Ron walked up to the table with his brother following behind him, “Hi, thanks for letting us join. This is my brother Moses,” Ron introduced stepping aside.
Moses stepped forward and froze in shock when he saw Jessica.
