Nicholas was taken out of surgery and placed in a recovery room. Doctors said it’ll take about half an hour for him to wake up. Ekin called Sam to follow him and order Bosco, Ron and Daniel to come guard the area so Nicholas could be safe. Then he advised Gillian to get herself cleaned up. She was a mess from crying so much.

Seeing a woman cry made him moody and never did he once give a dam about them crying. Weak women were game for his amusement and that was about all they were. But he knew if he wanted a calm life for Nicholas he had to choose these weak submissive women, like Gillian. Ekin was convinced she was an angel and the best choice for Nicholas after hearing, from Gillian, about how Joey shot Nicholas ‘cold-heartedly’.

Of course Ekin only cared about his precious brother, Nicholas’s well being. He was filled with anger towards Joey, so he headed towards her room with Sam to teach Joey a lesson about messing with Nicholas’s heart since thought she pretended to be dead and messing with Nicholas’s heath because of the shot.

===============================================================================

Louis arrived at room 404 where nurses were wrapping up Kristy’s injuries. She only had a slight one on her upper arm that needed medication and disinfecting but it was really painful. Kristy was making small talk with the nurse when she saw Louis standing at the doorway. She was quite surprised to see him standing there with a hint of concern in his eyes. She didn’t say anything as he approached her. “Are you ok?” Louis asked.

Kristy nodded. “I’m fine, just a minor injury.” She replied even though it was painful. “It’s nothing.”

Louis looked at the injuries on her arm. “It’ll heal.” He said positively and looked at the nurse. “Is she ready to be discharged?” He asked the nurse. The nurse nodded and he helped Kristy off the examination bed. Kristy felt so good being by his side with his care that she almost forgot about the pain in her arm.

Louis suddenly stopped walking and looked at her. “I think Nnadia’s patient, Joey was actually Joey Yung.” He suddenly said reminding her of the conversation they had a while ago.

Kristy nodded and looked at Louis earnestly. “I think so too.” She said and paused before she continued. “You don’t like Joey do you?” she asked cautiously trying to probe for more answers to the clothing she found under Louis’s. She knew he did a lot of illegal things and was connected to the triads but never had a clue he could be her heartless boss who assigned her to kill so many people.

Louis shook his head. “Nope.” He simply replied. Kristy looked at him confused. He assumed it was because he was ok with Edison’s engagement and continued to explain himself. “I never met Edison’s fiancé until I came back to Hong Kong for the wedding. When I found out the girl he was marrying was Joey, I strongly disapproved but Edison was set on his decision and didn’t want to change it.” He explained.

Kristy bit her lips as she built the courage to press further in her search for the truth. “Why didn’t you like her?” Kristy asked to get more answers. She nervously awaits his reply.

“I never told you this but, she’s a hired killer.” He said as if it didn’t bother him. “I found out she was hired to kill Edison.” He admitted. He was confident Kristy wouldn’t tell a soul the things he told her. He trusted her so much, more than he actually knew he did.

“How’d you know?” she asked now even more positive that he was her boss.

Louis shook his head. “That’s not important. What matters is that she didn’t get her job done and now she’s paying for it.” He said with no sympathy at all. “Some people don’t deserve to live, she’s one of them.” He answered curtly.

Kristy held her breath taking in his reply. She didn’t know what to say or do after hearing it. This cold-hearted side of him was rare. She was even more positive her boss that hated Joey’s guts had to be Louis. How else would he know so much?

“She’s killed a lot of people and it’s about time someone…” Louis was saying when his cell phone rang “Excuse me,” he said to Kristy and picked up his phone. Kristy nodded as she contemplated what to do or say.
===============================================================================

[MEANWHILE…] Joey was shifting in her sleep recalling an event in her past but she couldn’t tell what was actually happening. Many scenes jumped before her mind, she didn’t know which way was left and right or what was up and down.

========= + + JOEY’S DREAM + + =========

“Come here Joey, Come here.” She heard a male voice. It was playful. She ran around frantically looking for the source of the voice but it seemed as if the closer she got the farther away the voice was.

“Joey come here, I want to show you something.” The voice called once again laughing light-heartedly. It was very familiar but whose voice was it she couldn’t tell. She ran around. Her mind was spinning in circles like a rippling effect was going on in her mind.

“Kill him and you’ll get your reward.” The voice said. This time the voice sounded cruel and malicious. Her head hurt and she spun around to see who the voice was talking about. It was as if lightening flashed as she saw a photo of Edison.

She fell and couldn’t get back up. Kill Edison? She questioned herself. The voice laughed as a figure approached her. It was Nicholas. His eyes were filled with rage and fury. Suddenly she found herself on a stair case in a beautiful European decorated home and words were pouring out of her mouth she couldn’t control.

She immediately straightened herself out. “How did you get in?” she asked harshly.

“I have my ways.” He replied coldly.

“Get out of my house or I’ll have you arrested.” She said sternly.

He smiled coming closer to her. She stood her ground firmly. There was no way she would show any fear to this man. He finally came face to face with her on the stairway. “Leave.” She said again sternly.

“What if I won’t.” he challenged her.

Now her emotions stirred again. Her head hurt and she fell to the ground. It was pitch dark all around her again. All she heard now were audio hallucinations of a conversation. “You failed on your mission. There’s a punishment for it.” A malicious voice said.

Joey looked up from the ground. She couldn’t see anyone. Was it Nicholas? She wondered trying to bring enough courage to look up for the source of the voice. But instead she heard a female voice. “You’ll leave my home now before I call the police on you.” A female voice said in a threatening tone. She recognized it. It was her voice or at least a voice she once remembered as hers.

He chuckled. “You know the police can’t touch me,” He said rather amused. She recognized that voice, it was Nicholas. She held her head forcing herself to the floor. Suddenly she heard a slap and looked up. Now in her dreams she saw herself standing face to face with Nicholas.

“Get out of my house and leave me alone!” she shouted slowly backing up the steps of the staircase. Furiously he ran up towards her. “Leave me alone!” she shouted running into her bedroom chamber.

He immediately followed her. She tripped over her own foot as she hurried to lock him out. It was too late he got in and caught her. He leaned in to kiss her. She pushed him off her but he forced his kiss on her. He rolled his tongue in her mouth pulling off her clothes as he kissed her full of passion and rage.

========= + + END DREAM + + =========

Nnadia placed her hands on Joey’s hands. They were cold and trembling. Unexpectedly Joey jumped up from her bed screaming. “Aaaahhhhh…” she yelled.

Nnadia immediately wrapped her arms around Joey’s shoulders. “I’m here for you. It’ll be ok.” She said soothingly as she patted Joey’s upper chest.

Joey realized it was Nnadia. “He raped me! He refused to let me go! He…” she said trembling and holding onto Nnadia’s arm intensely. “He…” she stammered.

“Who?” Nnadia asked feeling so much sympathy for the poor girl before her. She thought she had problems but it was nothing like Joey’s problems. The poor girl, Nnadia thought to herself as she brushed her fingers through Joey’s hair soothingly.

Joey calmed down a bit. “Nicholas.” She stuttered. Somehow it didn’t sound right but Joey saw it in her nightmare earlier. “He… he wanted…” she took a gulp of air. “He wanted me to…” she needed more air to finish speaking. “…to kill Edison but I failed so he raped me!”

Nnadia was in complete shock. “He what?” she asked barely able to break through her thoughts. “You mean the Nicholas guy that you had a bad impression of in your dreams hired you to kill Edison?” Nnadia asked.

Joey nodded her head. “When I failed at the mission, he raped me as punishment.” Joey said recalling the events in her dreams and got back up to look at Nnadia. “I have to see Edison. Is he ok?” she asked.

Nnadia nodded but then shook her head. “I don’t know.” She said then recalled Louis rushing to the hospital for his brother. “Is your boyfriend, Edison Koo?” Nnadia asked now thinking about her suspicion of all the event of everything happening around her. She felt Louis was somehow linked to all this and might have not known that Cho Yee was also Joey.

Joey nodded. “Yeah, Edison Koo. He’s a lawyer.” Joey stated wondering how she recalled that part of her memory. Slowly things were coming back to her.

“I think Edison is in the hospital but he should be ok.” Nnadia said pulling out her cell phone to call Louis and check up on the situation for Joey. Joey watched Nnadia dialing the numbers anxiously.

===============================================

“WHAT?!?!?” Louis yelled. “Stay there, I’m coming!” he said hanging up his phone. “Nnadia just called. She said she was with Joey.” He said to Kristy somewhat surprised. “We have to get her away from Joey, it’s dangerous for her to be around that psycho woman.”

“What? Why would she be with her?” Kristy asked hoping to know more of what he knew.

“Joey has many enemies and I’m sure they’re not going to let her live in peace. Nnadia could be in trouble just being around her.” He said dragging Kristy with him.

===============================================

Nnadia hung up the phone. “Louis sounds strange.” She said looking oddly at Joey.

Joey could sense something was terribly wrong. “Louis?” she asked. That name didn’t sound friendly in her memory. “I remember a guy named Louis.” Joey said as if she was asking a question. “He was Edison’s brother and he didn’t like me.” Joey added holding her head as she got another image in her head of Louis holding a gun at her and opened fire. “Louis wants me dead!” she exclaimed dropping her head onto her lap.

“What?” Nnadia asked confused. As far as she knew Louis was a respectable lawyer. How could he want anyone dead? She wondered. “Are you sure maybe you’re confused and recalling jumbled up images in your head.” She suggested since she was a Psychiatrist and Joey’s mind was in a state of disorder.

Joey shook her head. “I know Louis is after me and so is Nicholas she said even though her images were blurry. But she just felt that it was the truth. “I have to get out of here!’ she exclaimed trying to get out of the bed. Michelle and Myolie who were watching and listening from the other side of the mirror, got themselves ready to stop her escape.

Now, Nnadia was confused. All the people in her life seemed to be part of a big conspiracy. She helped Joey off the bed hoping to treat Joey at her clinic. Just then the door opened and Ekin stood in the doorway. He was shocked to see Nnadia with Joey since he had no idea they knew each other.

“Ekin?” Joey said standing up next to Nnadia and shook her head as images of him rushed into her mind. She knew he was a womanizer and Nicholas’s brother. “He’s Nicholas’s brother.” She whispered to Nnadia.

“Brother like brother.” Nnadia said softly since she was dispirited by the news and believed Nicholas was just as the bad as Ekin, the way Joey kept recalling bad things about him in her memory.

“What are you doing here with her?” Ekin asked pulling Nnadia towards him.

Nnadia pulled her arm out of his grasp and shoved Joey behind her. “That’s not your concern!” she snapped back. “Get out of my way!” she yelled. Joey looked out the hall and noticed the police guarding the room had supposedly ‘fainted’ behind Ekin. Apparently they drugged the police officers. Sam stood behind Ekin.

Ekin ignored Nnadia’s remark and pulled her closer to him then ordered Sam to get Joey. Joey ran back into the room. Sam chased her. She threw the pillows and blankets at him but that didn’t stop him. He got a firm grip around the blanket and used it like a whip against her. She backed away trying to avoid him.

“Leave Joey alone!” Nnadia said pounding on Ekin. He held her arm and ignored her pounding since it didn’t really hurt as he watched Sam trying to catch Joey. Nnadia was running out of breath as she tried to shove Ekin off her. “Let me go!” she hollered.

Joey felt the IV unit behind her and used it against Sam. She twirled the IV unit around the blanket he was using against her and pulled him forward making him fall then came forward standing on the bed sheet as she pointed the IV unit at him. Sam noticed her standing on it and pulled hard causing her to trip. She fell back and slipped onto the floor then crawled under the bed. Sam got up and jumped over the bed, but right when he got over Joey picked up a heart regulator machine that she saw under the bed and slammed it over Sam’s head.

Sam fell to the floor since his head was injured. Ekin then let go of Nnadia and rushed forward picking up the IV unit Joey had dropped earlier and hit it down hard on her. Joey used the heart regulator machine to block but Ekin was stronger and she couldn’t dodge his powerful attacks. She dropped the machine and felt the pain in her hands. She backed up into the wall and didn’t see anything around her for her to use against him.

Nnadia ran up to Joey. Ekin blocked her with one hand. Nnadia bit hard on it. Ekin flinched. Joey immediately used this opportunity to kick Ekin down. He dodged her attack by bending backwards mid way and kicking her down with a sideway kick. Joey fell down as she twisted herself around to kick him but he was faster and ended standing firmly on his ground. Now he stood towering over her as he looked about ready to stomp on her.

Nnadia immediately jumped on top of Joey and stared bewilderedly at Ekin. “Leave the girl alone already!” She yelled. “What has she ever done to you? Why does everyone want to hurt her?” she hollered hugging Joey.

Ekin stopped and shook his head. “She fired a gun at my brother!” he yelled. “Nobody and I mean nobody tries to hurt or even kill my brother!” he shouted pointing at Joey.

“It was an accident!” Nnadia yelled. “Unlike you!” she said standing to face him now. “She didn’t intentionally hurt him! You think a physical wound is bad? Have you ever thought of an emotional wound! Even time cannot mend the emotional wound you’ve put in my heart!”

Ekin froze. He never thought about the way he treated women. They always seemed better off being the submissive women he liked to believe they were. But Nnadia was extraordinary. She made him think about things he never imagined.

Nnadia shoved him with all her strength “What makes you and your brother exceptions from being hurt when you two have probably caused more than enough pain for other people?” she hollered. Ekin didn’t say anything.

“POLICE!” Michelle yelled. Her and Myolie arrived in the room nervous holding their guns to Ekin. They knew they were in no position to mess with the power that backed him up in the triad world. Sam was conscious again and stood back up.

“Nnadia!” Louis shouted worriedly as he rushed forward to see what was happening and if Nnadia was in trouble. He and Kristy now arrived at the hospital room wondering what was going on. Everybody could see Nnadia standing furiously before Ekin protecting Joey. Sam was behind Ekin on the floor with a head injury.

Nnadia looked over at Louis, huffing and puffing from yelling at Ekin. “Louis?” she said wondering why he had rushed to look for her. Ekin glared over at Louis but was silent as he was wondering what Louis’s relationship to Nnadia was. Louis didn’t move. He didn’t know what was going on.

Finally after a moment of silence, Ekin turned to Sam. “Let’s go.” He said walking right out past Michelle and Myolie. He eyed Louis. “Follow me.” He commanded.

Nnadia helped Joey up and wondered where Ekin was going with Louis. Kristy walked into the room with Michelle and Myolie. Michelle immediately pulled out handcuffs and cuffed Joey. “Don’t cause trouble for me or I have to take you to jail and put you in a real jail cell!” She said annoyed.

Nnadia shook her head. “She’s injured and needs hospitalization.” She intervened. “The government of Hong Kong has its own health regulations, I’m sure you know that.” She said sternly to Michelle.

Michelle glared at her but complied because she couldn’t confine Joey to a normal jail cell with all the injuries Joey just acquired on top of her previous ones. “I’m still cuffing her to the bed!” Michelle said angrily and did just that as she left with Myolie to revive the other police officers outside the room.

Nnadia looked at Kristy. “Are you ok? I heard you were at the party and hurt too.” She said.

Kristy nodded her head. “I’m fine but are you ok?” She asked. “I noticed you and Ekin were in a heated argument.” She said since she saw the scene earlier.

“You know Ekin?” Nnadia asked as more things were unfolding before her. “Maybe you can tell me why Ekin just asked Louis to follow him then.” She said.

Kristy gulped. “Louis is Ekin’s lawyer.” She informed Nnadia. “They’ve known each other for almost 4 years.”

Nnadia nodded and looked at Joey. She couldn’t imagine what she has been naïve about all these years. “Louis was a lawyer for a big triad leader al these years and I never knew?” Nnadia chuckled as she said it. “It seems like you’re more perfect for him than I am.” She chuckled lightly thinking that her decision to marry Louis was wrong and that she was sure Kristy had stronger feelings for Louis and maybe even he felt the same.

Kristy and Joey looked at Nnadia. “I’m sorry.” they said in unison then looked at each other oddly.

Nnadia shook her head. “I want to know the truth. What are you people hiding from me!” she declared.

Joey gulped. “I’m a hired killer. I was hired to kill Ed but I failed because I fell in love with him.” Joey confessed. Nnadia looked like she was going to faint. Joey continued. “Kristy and I met from that assignment.”

Kristy nodded and continued to explain to Nnadia. “My sisters and I were working for Koo & Associates when she took on that job and we befriended each other.” She said.

They both told the truth but didn’t think they should reveal everything to Nnadia all at once. Joey didn’t know how Nnadia would take it and Kristy just didn’t want to talk about her life of being an assassin.

Nnadia nodded and trusted they told her what she needed to know. “Thank you.” She said smiling at them.

Joey took Nnadia’s hand, “I’m sorry, I just can’t remember too much of the past. I don’t want to burden you.” She said apologetically. “There’s so much going on now I feel awful.”

Nnadia shook her head. “That’s not your fault. Hopefully you’ll recover all your memory soon.” She said.

“How long will it take?” Kristy asked nervously. Nnadia looked at her then at Joey. “Sometimes it takes a bigger trauma to remember the horrible ordeal that caused you to forget.” Nnadia said as she patted Joey reassured. “You’ll remember your past, don’t worry.”

“I will remember.” Joey said confidently. “Don’t worry about me.”

“I’ll be right back.” Nnadia said going to look for Louis and Ekin. She found it strange that they knew each other especially after the pictures of Grace and Christy. Everyone seemed linked in some way.

Joey nodded because in a way she wanted to talk to Kristy alone. Nnadia smiled to Kristy who she still didn’t know knew Joey. “Take care of her for me.” Nnadia said as she left. Kristy nodded.

===============================================================================

Nicholas woke up within that half hour. He quickly opened his eyes and shouted “JOEY!” as he struggled to get up, but couldn’t really move.

Gillian hung up her cell phone from inside the hospital room, shoved something in her pocket and quickly ran to his side. “Nic, don’t try to get up.” She said helping him lay back down.

Nicholas refused. “Where’s Joey?” he asked panicking as he gripped her arms hard.

Gillian was hurt not only by the pain she felt in her arms, but more so by the pain she felt in her heart. “Why are you so concerned about her? She shot you and almost killed you.” She said upset that he still cared for Joey.

“Where is she? I need to find her.” he said trying to roll out of bed. He was too weak and couldn’t really move let alone stand and run over to Joey’s hospital room.

“You’re too weak. You might get hurt.” She said with tears in her eyes as she tried to stop him.

Nicholas shook his head. “I need to see her.” he replied without thinking about it. “Help me.” He said extending his hand to hers as he struggled to get out of the hospital bed.

Gillian shook her head unbelievingly at how Nicholas was more concerned over Joey than his own health. “You can’t even stand up! You don’t have any strength. I’m worried she might hurt you again or even kill you!” she shouted hysterically trying to stop him.

“I don’t care! Joey’s more important to me! What’s the point of living without her!” he shouted back because of frustration from not being able to get up. She stared disbelievingly at him. He was astonished by his own words.

Bosco, Daniel and Ron entered the room when they heard Gillian’s shouts. They thought something was wrong with Nicholas. “Nic ok?” Daniel asked.

Gillian shook her head in tears. Nicholas motioned them outside. “I’m fine. I just need to talk to Gill.” He said calmly this time. The guys nodded and closed the door again as they left the couple in private. They were quite for the first few minutes then Nicholas spoke. “I’m sorry Gill. I tried to forget about Joey but I couldn’t. I had images of her in my head everywhere I went and with everything I did.” He confessed.

Gillian continued the stream of tears cascading down her face as she pulled out a folded paper from her pocket. “The girl wearing red is Joey isn’t it?” she asked as her heart sank. Nicholas nodded. She ripped up the paper madly and threw it in the air. “After everything I did for you and all the love I gave you, how could you still love her?” she asked softly with despair. “Why?” she suddenly demanded in an angry tone.

Nicholas lowered his head in shame. Gillian shook her head. “Why can’t you love me? What’s wrong with me? What is it that I can’t compare to her?” she asked. She was deeply hurt that everything she did for his affection amounted to nothing.

Nicholas shook his head. “You’re better than her in many ways. You’re a lovely, wonderful, sweet, caring, and understanding person but you’re not her. My heart is very small and Joey has occupied more than my heart. She’s part of my soul, my breath, my life.” he replied.

Gillian felt as if million knives had pierced into her heart and were now being turned slowly as the blood was seeping out and her life was draining out of her. Nicholas was everything she was working on for in her life he was the reason she was trying to lead a straight life. He was why she had sacrificed so much of her time, energy, and especially her heart.

===============================================================================

[MEANWHILE…] Ekin and Louis were on the hospital balcony talking and Sam was sent away by Ekin to get his injuries checked. “I don’t think I can do that.” Louis said sternly with his arms folded across his chest.

Ekin had his hands in his pocket and didn’t even bother to look back at Louis who was behind him. “You don’t think so?” Ekin asked in a threatening way.

Nnadia looked in a few places and finally noticed their silhouette behind the linen curtain of the hospital. She approached and was shocked by what she was hearing. Louis chuckled. “You can’t threaten me. Nnadia won’t do it. She has a mind of her own.” He said firmly.

“I don’t care.” Ekin said now turning to look at Louis. “I don’t want you marrying her. Figure something out to leave her on the wedding day.” He said with a glint of jealousy in his eyes.

Louis could detect the annoyance Ekin felt about his marriage to Nnadia and wondered if Nnadia was Ekin’s newest interest. “Have you developed an interest in her?” he asked bluntly feeling as if holding onto Nnadia could do more good for him.

Ekin smirked. “Are you willing to make an exchange?” he asked.

Louis chuckled lightly. “How much are you offering?” he asked.

Ekin took his hands out of his pocket and showed Louis an old crumpled up paper that was folded. Louis nodded smiling at the offer Ekin gave him. “She won’t know.” Louis said nodding to Ekin.

Nnadia gasped at what she was hearing. Was Louis selling or giving her to Ekin for some sort of profit? What the hell was he doing? What was he thinking? She wasn’t his property!

[BACK WITH JOEY & KRISTY…] “How’s Edison?” Joey asked thinking Kristy would know.

“He’s ok, especially since he’s with Charlene.” Kristy said with a smirk. “After all they’re lovers, of course she would treat him particularly well.” She said grinning.

“Liar!” Joey shouted struggling to get off the bed. It hurt her to hear these words. Edison loved her not Charlene.

Kristy shook her head. “I am telling you the truth!” she shouted coming closer to Joey.

Joey shook her head. “I don’t believe you!” She shouted shoving Kristy aside and running towards the door dragging her bed with her since she was cuffed to it.

Kristy dragged her back but she pushed Kristy aside with her free hand. “Leave me alone!” Joey shouted. She was furious at the information she heard. It sounded so wrong, the person she thought she loved, the one that made her heart complete in all of her images was sleeping with another woman.

She opened the door but couldn’t get out of the room being cuffed to the bed. Kristy pulled out a gun and pointed it at her. Immediately before she could pull the trigger, Joey shoved the bed, with a lot of strength, at Kristy’s abdomen causing her to drop the gun onto the bed. She rolled over the bed and grabbed the gun then shot the handcuffs. She looked at Kristy who fainted and ran out of the hospital room.
