(( ONE YEAR LATER ))
A young man followed by his chauffer, walked into Neptune Disco II on a Saturday night. The lights were dim. The place was crowded and best of all, the majority were girls. He made his way through the crowd and into the VIP lounge where his two friends were waiting for him.
“Hey Eason, Hey Stephen.” He said then took a seat next to Stephen. “What’s going on tonight?” he asked.
“Hey Nic!” they both said greeting him.
Stephen scanned the room from their panoramic view of the dance floor in Nic’s VIP room. “Nothing much, just the usual crowd of bitches.” He replied eyeing one of the girls on the dance floor.
Eason followed his gaze. “Looks like you have your eyes on one of them.” He teased.
Stephen shoved Eason and stood up. He straightened his shirt. “See you guys later.” he said with a big grin.
Nic and Eason laughed. Nic took out a cigarette. “How about you Nic?” Eason asked.
Nicholas shook his head with his cigarette now in his mouth. Eason stood up and laughed. “I’ll see you later then.” He said getting up to find a girl for himself. He waved bye to Nic’s chauffer, Sam Lee and walked downstairs.
Nic looked at Sam. “Go have fun. Do whatever you like.”
Sam chuckled. “When will you forget about her?”
Nicholas shook his head and chuckled. “When the sun stops rising in the east.” He replied smoking his cigarette.
Sam shook his head. “It’s been over a year. You should get over her. Gillian has…” he was saying but Nicholas cut him off.
“Goodnight Sam.” Nicholas said. Sam shook his head as he left the VIP room. Nicholas exhaled, looked around the room, and closed his eyes. He sat there in silence for a moment.
Then out of the blue he received a hard slap on the face. He opened his eyes excitedly hoping to see "HER" but was disappointed to see another girl sitting in front of him. He glared at her and without answering shoved the girl to the side as he stood up.
“Fuck you Nicholas Tse!” the girl hollered. “What was I, just some tramp you fucked!”
“What the hell do you want bitch?” he asked putting a cigarette in his mouth.
“The name’s Cecilia if you don’t remember!” she yelled.
“I remember. What the hell you want?” he asked smoking.
“I love you!” she cried hugging him. “Please let me be with you.”
Nicholas took a deep sigh. “You want to be with me? Let’s see if you can handle it?” he asked pulling out some hard liquor. “Drink all of this!” he said harshly.
“No Nic, I just want to be with you, please don’t do this to me.” She begged.
“Fuckin drink it or get lost!” he yelled.
Cecelia quickly took one of the bottles and drank it. When she was finished Nic made her take another bottle, then another. She passed out before she even finished the third bottle.
He took a deep breath and called Sam Lee to take her home. “Make sure she gets home safe.” He said.
Sam nodded. “Yes sir!” he said enthusiastically and carried her drunken body into his car to drive home.
Nicholas fell onto his sofa and laid his head against the pillows. “Dam it!” he said angrily pounding the walls. Why do all these girls throw themselves at him but he can never have the only girl he loves.

The next day... Another young man sat in his office looking out into the horizon. He closed his eyes thinking of the last time he was with her. She was beautiful as ever. If it wasn’t for Nicholas, the man he would hate forever and ruined his life with the woman he loved.
His thoughts were interrupted when his secretary and good friend walked into the room. “Edison, I need you to sign these forms.” She said walking over to his desk.
Edison grabbed his pen and sat up straight. “Where do I sign?” he asked.
She indicated the line for him. She could tell he was thinking about her again. He always thought about ‘HER’ and it always crushed her to see him like this. “She’s past away for a year. You should move on.” She suggested.
Edison shook his head. “You don’t understand Charlene. If it wasn’t for Nic, she would be here. I can’t rest until Nic is in jail.” He said bitterly.
Charlene shook her head. “Don’t you understand, it was an accident. Why can’t you let it go?” she asked.
“It wasn’t an accident. He tried to kill me but he killed her instead!” he yelled as he finished signing the documents and threw his pen.
Charlene tensed up and took a deep breath. She knew there was no way of convincing him. That was how he was; stubborn and narrow minded. He only believed what he wanted to. She pulled the documents from him and looked at it.
“You have an appointment with the Andersons in 15 minutes. I suggest you get yourself together.” She said sternly and walked out of the room.
She took a deep breath once outside. She loved him but he didn’t love her. She wanted to give up but couldn’t. She loved him too much. He was everything of hers and that’s exactly why she was his secretary, to be closer to him.

Louis hung up the phone as Kristy walked into his office. “Were you talking to Ekin again?” Kristy asked.
Louis nodded. “He wants Ed out of Nic’s life.” He said.
Kristy shook her head “Of course Ekin is Nic’s brother. But Ed isn't giving up.” she said.
“That’s what I’m, worried about. Ekin has enough power to make sure we all don’t live if Ed keeps going about this plot against Nic.” Louis said shaking his head. “But Ed’s my brother and I have to help him.”
Kristy shook her head. “It was an accident. Nobody wanted it to happen.”
“But if Nic didn’t try to kill Ed, she’d still be alive.” Louis sighed.
Kristy decided to change the subject. Every time they talked about this subject it lead nowhere. “I have some documents for you to sign.” She said handing him the files in her hands.
Louis signed them. Kristy observed him diligently. The man she loved more than her own life. She met him five years ago when she got this job. She didn’t know at the time she would fall in love with him. Many would consider Louis a dishonest lawyer but Kristy found him to be wonderful and full of potential.
Louis looked up at her. “Is there something on my face? Why are you looking at me like that?” he asked.
Nothing.” Kristy replied coyly as she left his office. She sat back in her desk nervously as she smiled thinking about Louis.
A young woman snuck up to Kristy. “Hey! What are you thinking of?” she asked.
Kristy jumped a little. “Nnadia, you scared me!” she exclaimed.
“I wanted to.” Nnadia said with a sly smile. “So what were you thinking of?” she asked mischievously.
“Nothing.” Kristy replied looking away shyly.
Nnadia didn’t believe her. She turned Kristy around. “I caught you!” she exclaimed.
Kristy was stunned. Did Nnadia know she loved Louis? Nnadia laughed. “You were thinking of a guy weren’t you?” Nnadia asked. “Who is the lucky guy?”
Kristy was relieved Nnadia didn’t know. “Nobody. I was just thinking.” She lied.
Nnadia was about to persist but Louis opened his office door and called her. “Nnadia, come in here.” He said. Nnadia stuck out her tongue at Kristy and walked into his office happily.
Louis closed the door and looked at her sternly. “How many times do I have to remind you that you’re a grown woman? You can’t act like a child. You’re a grown psychiatrist now!” he said.
“I was just joking with Kristy.” Nnadia pouted.
“I don’t mean to be strict on you but you’re my girlfriend and I only want the best for you.” he said placing an arm on her shoulders.
Nnadia nodded her head. Louis smiled. “Let me take some files and we can go to dinner.” He said.
Nnadia nodded. Her whole life has been set by either her parents or Louis and they trusted Louis only thought of the best for Nnadia so they usually let him decide for her.
She’s known Louis forever and he was a perfectionist. Everything of his had to be perfect. Sometimes she wondered if people can actually be that perfect. She’s dated him since high school but didn’t know much about his business dealings. If she did, she’d know he wasn’t so perfect.
===============================================================================
It’s 2 am in a cold dark hospital room. It’s so quiet you can hear a pin drop three halls down. A young nurse walked around checking on the patients. Suddenly she hears a scream coming from a patient’s room three doors from her. She rushes quickly into the patient’s room to find the female patient sitting up frightened with beady eyes, hugging herself and shaking.
The nurse rushes over quickly to her. “Calm down I’ll get a doctor here.” She says pressing the doctor button as she tries to comfort the patient.
The patient shakes her head holding it as she lets out another scream. “Where am I? What am I doing here? Who are you?” She asks in freight then suddenly the patient realizes she doesn’t know her own identity. “Who am I?” she asked the nurse.
“I’m Tavia Yeung, a nurse here at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. You've been in a coma for the last year.” She replies then shakes her head. “I don’t know who you are.”
The patient looks at Tavia then looks around her surroundings. She quickly tries to get off the bed but Tavia stops her. “Please stay in bed until the doctor gets here.” She advises.
Right then, a young male doctor walks in. He rushes over to the patient. “I need to run some test. Help me Tavia.” He says pulling out his stethoscope.
The female patient backs away afraid of the doctor. She doesn’t know why but she’s afraid of everything around her.
“It’ll be ok, I’m your doctor, Raymond Lam.” He says coming closer to the patient.
“Why am I here?” the patient asked again backing into the wall of her bed.
“Here let me talk to her before you perform testes on her.” Tavia advises.
“She’s been in a coma for over a year. I need to check on her. It’s my duty.” Raymond says sternly.
Tavia rolls her eyes at him and looks back at the patient. “We’re here to help. Please trust us.” She advises the female patient.
The female patient feels a friendly vibe from Tavia and nods her head. Raymond smiles as he proceeds to check the patient’s reflexes and injuries. Tavia stand besides him to help. The patient starts to feel more comfortable with them after a while and relaxes.
===============================================================================
(( A WEEK LATER ))
“She didn’t have any ID or anything. We can’t track her to anybody.” Raymond said sternly looking at Tavia.
“I still don’t believe we should discharge her back into the street like she’s a healed patient because she obviously can’t remember who she is. She needs more time in the hospital.” Tavia says just as sternly.
“Look, she has no insurance, no identification, and she’s awakened from her coma. The state isn’t paying the hospital to support her until she regains her memory. We have other patients that need the room. She can’t live here forever.” He said.
Tavia rolls her eyes. “You’re a doctor! How could you be so cold hearted?” she asked.
“I’m a doctor and I have responsibilities. She’s not my only patient.” He explains to her. “I can’t look after one patient forever.”
Tavia realizes he’s right. She can’t argue that he’s one of the best doctors in the hospital and has many patients depending on him. “Fine!” she shouts leaving his office with a hard slamming of his door.
Raymond rubs his face with the palm of his hands. He hates arguments like this with Tavia. She’s just too stubborn and head-strong for her own good. He heard a soft knock on his door. “Come in.” he said.
A young woman walks into his office. “I just saw Tavia leave. Was she upset?” she asked walking in. She took a seat in front of his desk.
“Yup.” He said letting out a sigh. “Like usual she thinks I’m being a selfish doctor.” He replies.
“How could anyone think that about Raymond Lam?” she asked in a mocking voice.
Raymond smiled. “Enough mockery Michelle, so what are you here for?” he asked.
“I just wanted to see if you were free for lunch?” Michelle asked with a mischievous smile.
Raymond couldn’t help smiling at her. She was beautiful with her sparkling smiles. “Sure, but let me go visit one of my patients first.” he said.
She nodded. “Can I come along?” she asked. He nodded and they left to see the female patient.
Michelle hooked her arm in Raymond’s arm as they walked down the hall talking. Michelle and Raymond have been dating for a few months now. They met when Tavia introduced her best friend, Michelle to her co-worker Raymond. They hit it off to a great start and were now very happy.
======================================
“Hi.” Raymond said knocking on the female patient’s door. Michelle curiously peeked in but waited outside.
The patient smiled at him then noticed Michelle and her smile faded. Something about Michelle was very familiar to her but she couldn’t think of what it was. And it wasn’t a good feeling either. She reminded her of someone, someone that didn’t give her such a safe feeling.
“I know you’re having a difficult time and probably have amnesia. The best thing I can do right now is recommend a Psychiatrist for you. I can ask her not to charge you until you find a job and get yourself on you feet but that’s a much as I can do to help you.” he said sincerely.
The female patient nodded. “Thank you very much. You and Tavia have been very kind.” She said.
“Tavia doesn’t seem to think so.” Raymond mumbled softly.
“What did you say?” the patient asked even though she heard him. She just wanted to make sure she heard right.
“Nothing.” Raymond said then took out a business card from his pocket. “This is my cousin, Nnadia Chan. She’s the best Psychiatrist around. She might be able to help you find out who you really are.”
The patient took the card. “Thanks.” She said looking at the name. For some reason even that name was very familiar to her. She heard it before but couldn’t recall it.
===============================================================================
Tavia walked into her apartment with one small knapsack. “You’ll stay with me. I don’t care what Ray says.” She said with a warm smile as she looked at the female patient.
“Thank you. You’ve been so kind.” The female patient says sincerely. “I don’t know how to repay you.”
“No need to repay me. I became a nurse to help people. This is the least I could do.” she said showing the female patient her room. “All you have to do is get better.” Tavia said with a wink.
The patient smiled. “Thank you. You’re very kind.”
Tavia got her all settled then looked at her. “Since you don’t know your name how about you give me one so I can address you until you remember?” she suggested.
“That would be good but I have no idea what to name myself.” She said.
Tavia thought about it. “Well you were admitted into the hospital in June so why don’t we call you June for now?” she suggested.
June nodded her head. “Ok, that’s a lovely name. I can accept that.” She said happily. Having a name was very exciting for her.
“Now that you have a name, why don’t we go shopping for some clothes? You don’t even have the outfit you wore into the hospital.” Tavia said.
“What happened to it?” June asked curiously.
“It was cut off you for the operation.” Tavia replied.
“Do you know what happened to me?” June asked.
Tavia shook her head. “I have no idea. I only know that you suffered severe burns and a head concussion” Tavia said pointing to the scars on June’s shoulders.
June nodded and touched her wounds. For some reason she felt a shiver as she touched them. It felt as if there was something she needed to be afraid of.
“Come on, let’s go.” Tavia said grabbing two coats; one for June and one for her self. “We can go see Nnadia first.” She suggested. June nodded her head.
