Chapter 2

Hellllllo mommy

Sitting on an airplane for over sixteen hours was no fun. I had no ipod, no books, no magazines, I had absolute nothing. All I could do was listen to any conversations that were loud enough for me to hear.

“Aigoo, how can you let your daughter have sex before marriage?”

“YAH! Can you move your arm away from me?!?”

“Oppa, I can’t believe I finally get to meet your parents.”

“Umma, I’m bored! Umma! Umma! Ummmma!!”

I sat there fidgety trying to sleep. It was as if I was on crack and I couldn’t stay still. I could tell the poor old lady sitting next to me was annoyed with me. Every time I moved she would give me a death stare and let out a little “aish” under her breathe. If wasn’t my fault that annoying people was what I was best at.

I got off the plane, grabbed my suitcase and started looking around for my mom. It was typical that she wasn’t standing there waiting for me. It would’ve been too time consuming for her to actually pick up her only daughter at the airport. Such a wonderful mom isn’t she? Tch...yeah right.

It was extremely hot in Korea, a completely different weather from California. I took off my sweatshirt, stuff it in my bag and tied my medium length brown hair in a messy bun. I was wearing a white wife beater, navy basketball shorts, and black flip flops while exposing four of my tattoos. I had one pretty flower on my foot, two Latin phrases, one on each sides of my inner wrist, Vita Dolce and Moderato, and one Korean character, strength, on the back of my neck. If I were to expose my midriff I would expose two more tattoos and a navel piercing. I had part of a blossom tree on my right inner hip and outline of birds flying away on my left inner hip.

I looked like crap, yet everyone was looking and staring at me. Elderly couples shook their heads in disappointment. Children stared at me with shock. Young girls that seem like teenagers cupped their hands and whispered into each other ears.

Am I that beautiful that EVERYONE has to look at me? Damn bitch, the fuck you looking at?

I had only step out of the terminal for a couple of minutes and people were already giving me deathly stares.

I started looking around more until I saw one particular guy caught my eyes. He was wearing a black suit, white shirt, white air forces, a skinny black tie, a Bluetooth on his right ear, and sunglasses. His hair was kind of short, brown and spiked up. When we seemed to have made some sort of eye contact through his sunglasses, he smirked at me. He looked like he was some kind of undercover agent, either that or a hit man.

He made his way over towards me, all I could do was stand there. I tried walking away, but my feet wouldn’t move an inch. The next thing I knew, he was standing in front of me holding his right hand out.

“Hi, I’m Im Taebin, but you can call me Danny.” The hit man said in perfect English with a low smooth voice.

Chills went down my spine. I couldn’t hold my smiling in. I held out my hand to shake his. It was rough but his hold was gentle.

“I’m Kim Yo-“

“Kim Yoobin. I know. Your mom sent me to pick you up.”

My smile faded.

He picked up my heavy suitcase with ease and led me to his car. It was nice, sleek, black and shiny.

I sat in the seat behind him. Looking out the window, millions of questions popped into my head again. I didn’t want to think about it. I didn’t want to be here. I was too jetlagged to think straight. All I wanted to do was go to sleep. After a couple of minutes of swaying side to side I dosed off.

“Rise and shine sunshine. We’re here at your new home”

The next thing I knew we pulled up in a long driveway. I looked at the house in amazement. It was a huge two story house,

At least mom had it better after the divorce.

Danny opened the door for me, I couldn’t help but just stare up at him. After a couple of seconds I got out of the car. Danny shut the door, went to the trunk and grabbed all of my stuff. I stood there raisings my arms to the sky, stretching and letting out groans and moans.

Danny pushed me into the front door while the maid smiled holding the door. I took off my flip flops and looked around. My eyes shift from left to right. The house was perfect, there were no other words to describe it.
Out of no where a middle aged woman came up to me with open arms. She hugged me tightly in her arms, but I didn’t move an inch.

“Well aren’t you going to hug back sweetie?”

I stepped back, making her release me. I didn’t say a word.

“Oh honey come to the living room, your new family is ready to meet you” she said sweetly.

She grabbed my arms and took me to the living room. I just looked at her.

How could she act so comforting when she didn’t even call, write, or even email me once over the past three years?

When she left our family without a word I was mad at her, but I got over it quickly. But for some reason the fire inside of me started burning. I felt my bitchy side coming.

“Honey, meet your new father” she motioned her hand at a middle aged man.

“Welcome to our family” he waved at me smiling.

“And this is Seungri, your step brother” she motioned to a young teenage boy.

“Annyoung, Seungrimida” he stuck his hand out with a big smile on his face.

To my surprise my Korean language kicked in. I haven’t spoken a single word in Korean for the past years yet I still remembered the “formality”.

My eyes shifted from his hand to his face. I gave him a disgusted look. I started biting my tongue to prevent me from saying anything unnecessary.

How could he be so informal and greet me like that. I know he’s my family now, but this is the first time we’re meeting.

“That means “hello, I’m Seungri’” he said in perfect English giving me another smile while nodding his head as if he was talking to a child.

I couldn’t hold my tongue any more.

“I know that you dumb fuc-“

“HEY! You’re living with me now remember?! I don’t know how you were living when you were with your dad but from now on you’re living by my rules again. Understand?!?” my mom retorted at me.

“Yeeeuup” I said lazily. “So where’s my room?”

Seungri smirked. He tried to cover it by rubbing his nose, but I saw it a second too soon.

I could tell from the look on my mom’s face that she was annoyed with me. I scratched the back of my head to annoy her by exposing my tattoo to her. Her eyes widen in shock. She grabbed my arm to examine if it was real or not.

“What the hell is this?!?”

“That’s a rhetorical question ma. I think you already know the answer to that” I said calmly, reassuring her.

If steam could come out of people’s ear I would see two big cloud of smoke coming out of her ears.

“There’s more, do you want to see?” I said happily, putting on a fake smile.

“Seungri, show your sister to her room”. My mom couldn’t take it anymore.

Seungri walked past me, picking up my suitcase and leading me upstairs to my new room. I kept looking down the railing to see if my mother, she didn’t bother looking up.

I stopped walking abruptly. I had almost bumped into Seungri who suddenly stopped in front of one closed door.

“babababa” he made some sound effects while opening the door “Here’s you neeew room!” he said cheerfully.

He placed my belongings in my room and headed for the door.

“You should sleep, you’re probably tired from the flight” he said caringly.

“Thanks” I said emotionlessly laying on my bed.

“Later Yoobin. Nice tats by the way” he said right before closing the door.

It was hard for me to hate him, he was too cheerful.

I fell asleep right away, but only to wake to loud whispers.

“DAMN! She’s hella fine!”

“Shh!! You’re talking too loud, she’ll hear you!”

“Aye Seungri, let me get at her.”

“Oh shit! We got the same tattoo! That gotta mean something!”

I opened my eyes only to see Seungri and four other guys in my room, staring right at me next to my bed.
