Chapter 9

+“Anytime,”+

“Sun Ye ah!-” Yoo Bin didn't get far, before she saw the

five behind me, and stopped herself, “Oh.” Kim pulled Yoo Bin back, and pulled me in, “Sun Ye, you didn't call to

tell us you brought someone along.”

“SomeONES,” Yoo Bin muttered in-between gritted teeth. “Hey,” Seung Hyun raised his hands in his

defense, “i didn't want to see you here, but here you are, huh?” “I WORK here,” Yoo Bin said in the same

tone of voice, “thanks for noticing.” “Yah,” Kim smacked Yoo Bin's arm, “invite them in, won't you, Sun

Ye?” “Uh...um...” i hesitated, “sure. No problem...” Yeah, right. BIG problem. I slowly turned towards

Young Bae, the closest one to me, and i merely squeaked, “Come in.” Thankfully, he had no idea what

was going on through my head, so he nodded, and stepped inside, his friends followed after. I quickly

turned around for a retreat, instead, i met Yoo Bin's glare. “You,” she gave a pissed off smile that, i had to

admit, she hid well, “let's go talk outside.” “Waeyo?” i played dumb, i didn't want to know what she was

up to, “i was just outside, though. And it's cold, believe me, its cold.” “I believe you,” she clutched onto

my arm, “but it won''t be long, arasso?” I didn't get a chance to say anything, for she dragged me outside.

Yes, back into the deep freeze i had just escaped from.

“WHAT is he doing here?!” she said, right after the door closed behind us. “He...?” i said, “as in..”

“SEUNG HYUN,” she went on, “what-” “Long story,” i interrupted, “but look, it has nothing to do with you.

I didn't even know he knew Young Bae.” “Young Bae?” Yoo Bin's voice echoed. “The-um-” i stuttered just

thinking of him, how was i suppose to go back in there? “Oh,” her expression changed, “that guy that was

behind you?” i nodded, thankful that Yoo Bin couldn't see me as i flushed a deep red. “He-i-i...” i sighed.

Breathe. In. Out. Inhale. Exhale. “He...?” Yoo Bin tried to make eye contact with me, “he...what?” “It's

nothing. I ran into him at school the other day, and again just now. I had lost Kenny, and i guess-i guess

he found him. Then he volunteered to drive us here,” it came out all at once. Then i realized...I HAD TOLD

HER I LOST KENNY...! “I-” i had just began, but Yoo Bin stared directly at me. Uh-oh. Thump. Thump.

Hello? Heart? Are you there? Now would be a PERFECT time to stop working...PLEASE...? “You,” she

smiled, causing me to stop breathing, “you RAN into him at SCHOOL?” I almost cracked up laughing, but

instead, i sighed (Glad that she didn't catch the part where i said i lost Kenny). “Oh,” i let out a small

laugh, “yea. It was an accident...” “Are you BLUSHING?!” she exclaimed. “Aish!” i covered her mouth with

my hand, “Yah, don't yell so loud like that! Someone might hear, and think something's going on out

here...!” “Sorry,” came her muffled voice through my hands, “but...are you-”

“Ani,” i pulled my hands away from her mouth, “come on. Let's go back in. I'm freezing out here.” God, i

hope she didn't see right through me...

Surprisingly, she was back to her normal self when we got back into The Palace. The only difference? She

acted as if Seung Hyun wasn't there.

“Oh!” Kim exclaimed as Yoo Bin and i walked in, “we forgot to introduce you two to the others!” Of course,

they probably already knew us, because we were in the same class as them, but i guess Kim didn't know.

“This is Yoo Bin,” she went on, “Yoo Bin, this is Dae Sung, Seung Ri, Ji Yong, Young Bae, and Seung-”

“No need to go any further,” she smiled sweetly at Kim, “i already know the last one.” If only she were as

sweet as her smiles, huh? “Oh,” she looked lost, “ok then. This is Sun Ye. Sun Ye-” “Um,” i laughed, “i

already heard the introduction.” She nodded, and before she turned back around to do chores, she

remembered, “Oh, Sun Ye ah, where were you all evening? Its nearly midnight right now.” Damn, i was

trying to avoid this question. Obviously i wasn't gonna lie to her, but if i didn't...Who knows if I'll ever see

Kenny again... Damn. I wish i had the guts in me to lie to her. “We-” i started, but Kenny cut in. “We went

to get ice cream, then we went for a walk. And we got lost, so Young Bae drove us back.” Wow, he

practically told everything, just not there part where we weren't lost TOGETHER. More like...we got

separated for about two hours... “Oh,” Kim nodded, and smiled towards Young Bae, “that's very nice of

you.” He smiled, that smile that made me go blank all the time. That smile that i always wondered where

he inherited it from. The one that looked SO good on him...

“Anytime,” he said. ANYTIME?! So if i got lost again- Min Sun Ye ah! Don't you even THINK about doing

that again.

I wish my brain didn't have a mind of its own...

Kim nodded, and went back to her chores, which included cleaning and all that other stuff. It

wasn't until Young Bae had caught me staring at him, and i looked away, that i realized... I hadn't done

anything for Kim all day...! “Aish,” i muttered to myself, wanting to hit myself so bad for not noticing

earlier. I bowed to them before i left to find Kim. Kenny was talking to Young Bae, about who knows what,

and Sun Mi was talking to Seung Ri.

I spotted Kim in the supply closet, dusting things. “Yah,” i spoke up, “let me clean. I think you've

done enough today.” “Oh,” she turned to look at me, “ani. It's okay. I got it.” “Please,” i went on, “let me

clean. I haven't done anything all day.” Wow, i was BEGGING to do chores... Who would've saw that

coming? “Don't say that,” she laughed, “you took care of Kenny.” Oh. Yea, right. I only LOST him. “Ani,” i

took the duster from her, “let me clean. Please? You can go rest, or something.” She smiled at me, and

said, “Sun Ye ah-” “PLEASE,” i interrupted her, “i just want to do some chores.” She laughed, and finally

gave in, “Arasso. But don't work yourself too hard. You don't deserve that, you hear me?” Of course i do! I

nearly LOST your three year old son!

I nodded pathetically, “Arasso.” She smiled, and with that, she left.

“Sun Mi ah,” Seung Ri approached her. Sun Mi stood there, confused out of her mind...'This

couldn't possibly be the same Seung Ri from the bar the other night... It CAN'T be...right?' She stared at

him, not sure what to do. Should she greet him, or...WHAT OTHER OPTION WAS THERE...?

“Annyeonghaseyo,” she ended up greeting him. He smiled, “Hi.” That was it, a simple 'hi' and she nearly

stopped breathing...

She smiled in return, fighting the urge to look up at him, she looked down at her feet instead. He laughed

lightly, “Yah, are my feet that good looking?” Sun Mi blushed, not wanting to look up even more. When

she didn't say anything, he continued, “I-i was just kidding.” “Oh,” she looked up at him and smiled, it

was this smile of hers that did him in, “of-of course, i knew that.” It was when she looked up at him, that

she noticed how much the lights loved his face. They were literally REFLECTING off him. If he looked good

in the dark, he looked GORGEOUS in the light. 'So how would he look like...if it was broad daylight...?'

Sun Mi couldn't help thinking. His eyes met hers for a split second, and she looked away. The two stood

there, not saying anything. Its a surprise they were even breathing.

“Sun Mi,” Ye Eun cut in between the two, breaking the moment (if there was one...), “Kim says

that- Oh. Did i interrupt you two...or something...?” She looked from Sun Mi to Seung Ri. “Oh,” Sun Mi

shook her head, laughing, “ani. We weren't really talking at all.” Sun Mi glanced at Seung Ri and saw him

smile and of course, she blushed, for he was smiling right at her. “Well,” Ye Eun went on, not

understanding the situation, “Kim went home already, and she left the spare key with Sun Ye.” “Your

point is...?” Sun Mi laughed, not quite sure where this was going. “We can go home now,” Ye Eun

answered, picking up her things from behind the counter. “Oh...” Sun Mi replied, a bit sad that the day

had to end already. After all, it WAS a quarter pass midnight. “Hurry up!” Yoo Bin exclaimed, in a rush to

get out the door. “We still have school tomorrow...” So Hee muttered quietly, gathering up her things, and

joining Yoo Bin at the door.

Young Bae and Ji Yong were nonchalantly talking back and forth at a table opposite from the entrance.

“Yah!” Ye Eun exclaimed from behind the bar, of course there was a bar in The Palace, “has anyone seen

my coat? I am NOT going out there, in the cold, without my coat!” She backed up unaware that Dae Sung

was right behind her, holding her sweater, and she knocked him against the wall. She turned around, and

saw Dae Sung against the wall, with her coat. “Oh!” she exclaimed, “omo-Yah, I'm sorry. I didn't mean-i

didn't know-”

“Ani,” he held out her coat to her, “its okay.”

“Gw-gwaenchanayo?” she asked, “i'm sorry if i hurt-”

“I'm alright,” he laughed, “and you can take your coat now.”

“Yah!” Ye Eun almost yelled, “why didn't you say anything when you were behind me?!”

“I-” he laughed, “i didn't know your name, what was i suppose to say?”

“HEY,” Ye Eun answered, “'hey' would've worked.”

“Well, 'hey',” he couldn't help laughing, “here's your coat.”

“Aish,” she muttered, taking her coat from him, “it's Ye Eun, by the way.”

“Dae Sung,” was all he said, before he turned around and walked off laughing. “What's with him...?” she

mumbled under her breath as she walked in the opposite direction with her coat.

“Come on!” Yoo Bin pouted from the doorway, “yah, hurry up!” She dug through her bag for her keys-

“Aish,” she muttered, irritated, “tell me this is a joke...” “Mwoya?” So Hee asked from behind Yoo Bin,

“what happened?” “My keys,” Yoo Bin looked up from her bag, “have you seen them?” So Hee shook her

head, “Waeyo? You lost it?” “Where did you last leave your purse?” Ye Eun asked. “Over-” Yoo Bin pointed

to a table where Seung Hyun happened to be sitting in, at the moment, “oh my gosh, ARE YOU

SERIOUS?!” She stomped over to Seung Hyun, and slammed her purse down on the table, “Yah! Did you

take me keys?!”

He slowly looked up at her, “What?” “Did. You. Take. My. Keys?” she asked again, irritated, “Gosh. Its like

talking to a rock!”

“Are you calling me a...ROCK?” he laughed. “WHERE ARE MY KEYS!?” she demanded. Seung Hyun

shrugged his shoulders, “Why are you askin me?” Yoo Bin slammed her hands down on the table, causing

a commotion. Ji Yong and everyone else looked over at them. “Dammit, Seung Hyun,” she muttered, so

only he could hear, “i know you have my keys.” He laughed, “Hey, you remembered my name, eh?”

Really, Yoo Bin came so close to choking him with the handles of her purse. “Where. Are. My. Keys?” she

muttered through gritted teeth. “What...are you talking about?” Seung Hyun looked up at her through

arched eyebrows. That was when she did it. Yoo Bin yanked her purse off the table, and swung it at Seung

Hyun.
