I finally made up my mind and decided to go to the Starbucks where I work at to grab a bite. I threw on my peacoat and secured my scarf around my neck and I was out the door.

Fred took a seat at the small dining table. He stuffed a slice of toast in his mouth while reaching over into his messenger bag. “Here’s your mail.” He handed a stack of envelopes to Raymond, “Oh, this one is to the wrong address.”
Raymond took a look, “The address is to our neighbor. It probably just got stuck to ours by accident. I’ll take it next door later today.”

As usual, the ten minutes drive ended up being close to thirty. I pulled into the parking lot, but there were no spaces left. I circled around once more and finally found a spot, small as it was my Saturn ion fit perfectly.
“Myolie, what are you doing here today?” The manager on duty, Cindy, asked. “I didn’t see you on the schedule.”
“Some jerk must have either thought it was funny to play Christmas at seven in the morning or maybe he’s just plain inconsiderate.” I answered still fuming. “Since I was up and there was nothing to eat in my apartment, I figured I’d come get a large blueberry muffin and a grande hot chocolate.” I ordered.
“Here you go?” the cashier handed me the cup and my muffin packed in the bag. I thanked her and headed to a table in the very back.
Pulling out my large history textbook I let out a loud sigh. Finals are coming up and I am so behind on my readings. I highlighted the text as I read making my comments in the margins; after finishing two chapters I glance down at my watch. My eyes bulged, ‘I only have twenty minutes to get to class. I’m going to be so late.’ Was the only thought running through my mind. I dashed out to my car, turned on the engine and was on my way. ‘I can make it’ I tried to convince myself.

Raymond carried a small box he’d dug out from his closet towards Fred.
“What are you about to do?” Fred asked, but as soon as Raymond lifted the lid off he knew what was happening.
Raymond took the small box of ornaments to his large Christmas cactus and began decorating it like a Christmas tree.
Fred only shook his head, laughing at how much Raymond enjoyed Christmas.

As expected, I am sitting in traffic. I do not understand, it is 10:45 in the morning, people should already be at work and the roads should be clear. The traffic today was just bad, worst than usual and I know exactly why.
What’s so special about Christmas? Nothing, in my opinion, it only seems to make things worse. It’s only the first day of December and the conditions are already like this. I know as the week, or weeks, passes it will only become more hectic. There are more people out on the street meaning more germs being spread, more cars on the road meaning more traffic or more accidents. Me and my big mouth, the car behind me just hit the rear of my car. I officially hate Christmas.
