Myolie and I just spent our three years anniversary together last December. She is so much different from when I first met her. I’ve seen her smile ten times as much as she did which is amazing because she has the most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen. I’m not exaggerating; seeing her smile brightens my day. Gosh, I still remember the day when we first met quite vividly, I landed myself with a slap on the face. I have to admit, we didn't get off on the best start, but luckily I got through to her heart and we spent our first Christmas snow together and have been together ever since then.
Of course a lot has changed since Christmas three years ago, Myolie and I have both graduated, and we are no longer working at Starbucks. I’m a mechanical engineer, while Myolie is working in business administration.
Then again, there are some things that haven’t changed and that’s we’re still neighbors. Fred has moved to Utah, leaving me all alone. I’ve asked Myolie to move in with me because I find it silly that we each have our own apartment when we’re either at her apartment or my apartment. I don’t understand why we don’t just get rid of one, but Myolie insist on having our own personal space and I respect her decision.
Today is February 1st, I have exactly thirteen days left until Valentine’s Day and I have a BIG surprise for Myolie. I just hope she likes it.
I thanked the sales clerk as she handed me the small package. Before leaving I opened it up to inspect the content. Satisfied, I slipped it into the inner breast pocket of my blazer. Looking at my watch, ‘Oh no, I totally forgot! Jack and Myolie are going to be so mad at me.’ I hurried to my car and drove off to meet them.

“I’m so sorry Jack.” I apologized. “I tried to come as soon as I could.”
“It’s okay man, we’re just about to start.” Jack gave me a pat on the shoulder, “I’m not too sure if Myolie is okay with it though.” I thanked him for the heads ups and walked over to Myolie who had her back towards me.
She angrily closed her cell phone, “Jack! Let’s not wait…” when she turned around to finish her sentence she saw me standing there. I gave her my megawatt smile, but instead of returning it with a smile a frown was plastered on her face, “How come you’re late?” she questioned with her hand on her hip.
“I was stuck in traffic” I lied, but luckily she bought it. I don’t see why she wouldn’t because she gets stuck in the Spaghetti Junction every other day.
“I tried calling you for the past hour. How come you didn’t answer?”
I pulled out my Motorola Razor cell phone, “It was out of batteries.” I showed her with a guilty look on my face. “Don’t be mad at me. Plllleeeeeease.”
“I’m not mad, I was just worried something happen to you.” Her tone softened while she had a cute pout on her face.
“I didn’t mean to make you worry; I promise it won’t happen again.” She smiled again, “And you look beautiful.” I gave her a kiss on the lips and she giggled.
We’re here to take wedding pictures today. No, it’s not for Myolie and me. How I wish it were, but it’s for Jack and his fiancée, Selena Li. She had asked Myolie to be her bridesmaid while Jack asked me to be the best man. Of course Myolie and I agreed because Jack is our best friends.
They’re getting pictures taken while we’re getting our final fitting for our dresses and tux. We confirmed that everything was the right size and fitted perfectly before changing back to our clothes. Myolie and I sat on the side to admire Jack and Selena take their wedding photos.
Jack is no longer a baker at Starbucks; two years ago, Myolie and I had urged him to enter in a local competition which he won and went to the regional competition and won there as well. One of the hotels in downtown Atlanta was very impressed and hired him to be one of their co-executive pastry chefs.
Selena is a food critic for the newspaper so naturally that’s how she and Jack met. She did an interview with him, he made her some cookies, they went on a couple of dates, and finally became official, and now they would be getting married in thirteen days. That’s right; they are getting married on the most romantic day of the year, Valentine’s Day. I’m so envious of the two, but at the same time I was extremely happy. I just wonder when my day will come.

We finished taking the pictures and went grocery shopping. After we returned back to my apartment with our purchase, I began to unload and place everything away. Myolie sat on the couch and stretched her arms before reaching out on the coffee table for her Sudoku puzzle. She is absolutely addicted of the game making me feel jealous. She often neglects me over it.
I began cooking dinner, “What do you want tonight?” I asked Myolie who was sitting on the couch.
She didn’t answer; I thought she was too deep in concentration she didn’t hear me. I turned around and found her to have fallen asleep. I quietly walked over. I chuckled seeing her cute face. I removed the Sudoku puzzle she was working on away from her lap and grabbed a blanket and pillow from my room. I stuck the pillow under her head gently and place the blanket over her.
Brushing her bangs away from her face, I gave her a quick peck on the forehead before returning to cook dinner.
Myolie awoke an hour later, “I’m so hungry!” she exclaimed. I chuckled at her silliness and walked over to the kitchen to pull out the dinner I had cooked.
She excited jumped up from the couch and joined me in the kitchen. “You didn’t have to wait for me.”
“I wasn’t hungry yet, plus, I wanted to have dinner with you. You’ve been so busy lately; we haven’t had time to spend with each other.” I reheated the food and we enjoyed dinner together.
We snuggled on the couch together after washing the dishes together. I enjoy every minute we get to spend ‘together’ no matter what we were doing. “We’re you busy at work today?” Myolie asked me.
“I…uh…” I began stuttering. I normally don’t lie to Myolie, but I didn’t want to spoil her surprise. I laughed to cover up for myself, “I had a brain lapse, couldn’t remember what I did today for a moment. Yeah, it was a bit busy since Joe’s wife just had a baby so he’s on leave.” She nodded to my response and leaned on my chest and fell asleep again. She must have been the one with a busy day.
I couldn’t help but smile, everything was perfect between Myolie and me all these years. We haven’t had any major argument or fights, no third parties, nothing. Everything’s perfect; perhaps too perfect. We’ve never experienced any major obstacles in our relationship, but that’s not a bad thing is it?
