I put on my best suit and the tie Myolie had given me last year for Valentine’s Day. I checked myself one last time in the mirror; satisfied, I left for work.
Since Jack’s wedding is on Valentine’s Day, I made plans with Myolie to celebrate a couple of days earlier. I’ve even made reservations at her favorite restaurant.
Tonight was the perfect night because her parents were going over to have dinner with Jack’s parents. I’m really looking forward to tonight; especially since we haven’t spent any quality time together for the past few days.

Myolie stretched as she woke up. Opening her eyes she found a single rose lying on her vanity table. A smile grew on her face; she walked over to smell the rose. She picked up the note underneath the flower.
The card was covered entirely in Raymond’s handwriting. It wasn’t anything particularly creative, but it meant so much to Myolie. Her heart felt warmed seeing the message ‘I LOVE YOU’ repeatedly written. It must have been written at least over three hundred times for it filled the card from corner to corner.
She picked up her cell phone, “Morning,” she answered sweetly as she smelled the rose again, “Thanks for the gift.”
“My pleasure, I’m glad you like it. Have you walked out of your room yet?” Myolie set down the rose, and walked out of her room. I heard her gasp, “What do you think, do you like it?”
Myolie bobbed her head up and down. “I love it!” she exclaimed. She ran around the room, “It looks beautiful.” She walked through the cherry blossoms that were strung together, hanging from ceiling to floor. “I’ll see you tonight. Okay, bye.” Myolie just lit up my morning; things were going so well, nothing could go wrong today.

So I was wrong, things were not as great as I had said earlier. I had been designated to go out to buy lunch for everyone in the office. I didn’t mind, but of course it was just my luck, as I carried the three large takeout bags from McDonalds, it had to start pouring. Moments ago the weather was beautiful; bright sun and clear skies. “Today will be a good day.” I reminded myself. “I’m having dinner with Myolie”

We were coming separately since Myolie didn’t want me to have to go all the way across town to pick her up and then have to drive all the way back to the restaurant. As I waited in the restaurant, I could not help, but constantly look at my watch.
“Why is she not here yet?” I started to get impatient and worried. “Stop thinking bad thoughts” I scolded myself. “Myolie is okay, she must just be stuck in traffic.” I tried to convince myself. I picked up my cell phone and dialed out to Myolie. She didn’t answer.
I sat in the restaurant and waited, from seven to eight, then from eight to nine, making phone calls every few minutes to her cell phone, to her work, and to her apartment. Finally, I decided I would wait no longer; I went back to our apartment complex, where I saw Myolie getting out of her car.
“Myolie,” I ran over and hugged her tightly, “Thank god you’re okay. I was beginning to worry that something happened to you.”
“What would be wrong with me? I’ve just been with Ron, that’s all.”
“You mean you didn’t come to our dinner tonight because you were with him?” I questioned, raising my tone slightly and accusingly.
“Ron, was sick, I had to accompany him to the hospital.” Myolie answered.
“I called you several times, the least you could have done was answer your phone or given me a call back so I wouldn’t have to worry.”
“I’m sorry you were worried, but like I said we were in the hospital. After we left, I had to take him home and make sure he was alright before I left.”
“Do you have to cook and clean for him; tending to his every needs? You sound more like his girlfriend than my girlfriend” I said sarcastically.
“Did you expect me to just leave him all alone? Ron has no family here in Atlanta. I’m his family. I have to obligation to take care of him.”
“Ever since he showed up, you’ve been spending more time with him than me. I’m sorry that I don’t know you as well as he does.” I blurted out.
If you so unhappy about his, maybe we just need to break up.” Myolie suggested and stormed off.

Now that I’ve had some time to cool off and reflected the situation, I regretted my harsh tone and what I had said to Myolie earlier in the night. Tossing and turning, I wondering how I would get Myolie to forgive me.
I picked up my phone wanting to call Myolie to apologize but the more I thought about it, I knew I need to give her some time to cool off.

Myolie laid in bed; she pulled her comforter closer to keep warm. ‘Why hasn’t he called yet.’ She wondered.
She thought back to the argument she had with Raymond tonight, ‘Maybe we should breakup.’ Out of the blue, she started laughing uncontrollably.
Raymond never struck her as being the jealous type, but perhaps that’s how guys are? “Raymond was right; Ron and I have been awfully close. It was hard not to mistake something happening between the two of us.”
The more she thought about it she realized that he made such a big deal only because cared. “But then again, he couldn’t always be this way every time he saw me with another guy, he has to trust me…”

‘I’m really sorry!!! Will you forgive me?’ I taped the note to the box of cookies I had just baked. Walking over, I set the box outside of Myolie’s apartment. I knocked and quickly retreated to my apartment. After two minutes I heard her open the door and then the door closed again. I peeked out and saw the box missing. Maybe that meant she’d forgiven me?
I was wrong; moments later my doorbell rang. I opened the door and found Myolie standing there with my box of cookies in her hand. I smiled at her, but she did return it, instead she thruster the box into my hand and stormed off to her apartment.
I looked down and saw in reply to my note a big fat ‘NO’ written with a black sharpie.
“Did you make Myolie angry?” I heard Damian ask from behind.
I turned around nervously to face him, “No sir.” I answered. Again, the skeptical eyebrow rise, “Yes sir.” I replied sadly. He grunted and returned to the bedroom.
Florence walked out, “Give him some time, he’ll accept you eventually.”
