Nancy woke up the following morning and found herself lying in the hospital bed. She had a bandage around her head and a few cuts and bruises on her body.
“Are you okay?” Sheren asked.
Nancy felt confused. She thought her parents would be mad at her. After all, Myolie had to be dead after getting hit by the truck. They should be blaming her for the loss of their precious daughter, should they not?
The door opened and to Nancy’s horror, Michael walked in with Myolie next to him.
“Nancy, are you okay?” Myolie asked concernedly as she approached the bed.
Nancy lifted her hand and pointed her finger at Myolie. She looked perfectly fine, not even a single scratch or dent on her. How was it possible? Her finger, as with her voice shook as she spoke, “How is it that you are okay. You have to be dead after what happened.”
“Nancy, how dare you say such a thing about your sister? She just saved your life.” Sheren scolded.
“But…but I saw it. I saw it with my own eyes. There was a truck coming towards me. Its headlights were really bright. Every thing was happening so fast; the truck was coming towards me so fast. I felt Myolie push me out of the way and before I fell unconscious I saw her get hit by the truck. There was blood everywhere. There’s no way she could have survived.” Nancy recounted the event of last night.
“What are you talking about Nancy? I didn’t get hit by a truck. You ran out into the street and I pulled you back. But then you slipped on an aluminum can and hit your head.” Myolie told her version of the story.
Nancy refused to believe what Myolie was telling her. She was lying. Myolie was hit by the truck; she was positive of this fact.
A few days later, Nancy was released from the hospital and they went home. Nancy avoided Myolie because she believed there was something abnormal about her. Her days at home were now very quiet. She rarely argued with her parents or disobeyed them.
The school year ended and Nancy brought up to her parents that she wished to study overseas the following year and continue her education in the States. Without much effort or discussion, her parents agreed to her request.
Nancy knew they would not care where she went or why she wanted to go. They would just pretend that they never had her as one of their daughters.
Nancy was determined to start her life over. She wanted to be away from her parents and especially her sister, Myolie.

Nancy rang the doorbell, “I hope they still live here.” She said as she resumed to link arms with her fiancé.
“I’m sure they would have let you know if they moved.” He answered.
Nancy was not quite sure about that. They had not kept in contact for the past ten years. Sure, they paid for her college expenses for four years, but after that, she made it on her own. Her parents never came to visit, they never bothered to call, they didn’t even attend her graduation.
“I wonder if they even want to see me again.” Nancy began to doubt herself. Was she doing the right thing?
“It’ll be okay.” He assured as he gently patted her arm.
Sheren opened the door. “Mom” Nancy called out.
Sheren took a moment to recognize her daughter, “Nancy…” she paused for a moment not knowing what to say, “Come on it.” She invited.
“Who is it?” Michael asked
“It’s Nancy,” Sheren answered.
Michael walked out from the kitchen. Nancy walked forward and smiled brightly as she gave each of them a hug. “I’ve missed you…Mom, Dad.” It felt so good to use those terms again.
They took a seat in the living room where Michael and Sheren observed Nancy. Both, Michael and Sheren, could not believe that this was their daughter. She seems so well mannered. The young woman sitting in front of them was a completely different from the teenager they had sent away ten years ago.
She had traded her short, bubble gum pink hair for a nice, long, natural, black, silk mane, which she had pulled back into a ponytail. She no longer wore a short skirt and a spaghetti strap top, but instead a beautiful spring flora skirt with a soft, petal pink sweater.
“Mom, Dad, I’d like you to meet my fiancé, Raymond Lam.” She introduced.
He extended his hand forward, “It’s nice to meet you”
Nancy hesitated before asking, “Where’s Myolie?”
Before either, Sheren or Michael could say anything, Myolie answered for herself, “I’m right here.”
Everyone turned towards the direction of the voice. Nancy was shocked, there was her sister, dressed in a long, plain, white dress with a white sweater on top, shoulder length hair, sitting in a wheelchair.
How was it possible? That same question aroused in Nancy’s mind. Myolie was able to survive being hit by a truck ten years ago, but now she has become confined to a wheelchair?
“What happened?” Nancy could not help but ask.
“I was involved in a car accident a few years ago, but I am really fortunate to still be living. The others were not as lucky.”
Nancy nodded as she tried to absorb what Myolie had just said, but she still felt it was unbelievable. Was what she saw ten years ago merely a dream? Nancy snapped out of her thoughts. “Myolie, meet Raymond, he’s my fiancé.” She introduced.
Myolie smiled brightly at him, “Nice to meet you Raymond.” He nodded politely in response.

Blueheart – thanks for reading even though you’re not a big Rayolie fan! Nope, Myolie didn’t die.
Michelle – You’re so optimistic Michelle…well…I don’t think the accident really brought the family any closer…but Nancy has changed…
haha08 – hopefully I’ll get to some Rayolie action in the next chapter or so!
toby – It’s okay, Myolie didn’t die! And she’s not in a coma or anything…she actually came out of the accident without a scratch…
mystery – no….Myolie and Nancy didn’t become good friends just because Myolie saved her…but you do have some good guesses there.
StrawB3rryz – Hey! I’m glad you liked the first chapter! I’m a Nancy fan myself. Haha…too many TVB series for you…probably me too…
my0t1 – It seems like everyone feels bad for Nancy…Myolie became handicapped, but not from the accident. …
Eternal_s2 – Hey! Yup, another Rayolie story from me! The accident didn’t turn out to be too bad right?
