“What do you do for a living Raymond?” Michael asked.
“Raymond’s a music composer for his dad’s company. He was working in the US, but his dad wants him to take over the branch her in Hong Kong, so that’s why we decided to move back.”
“And what about you Nancy, what are you doing now?” Sheren asked curiously as to what occupation her daughter had chosen.
“She’s a ‘bak yi tin see’ (nurse).” Raymond answered for her.
Sheren and Michael could not believe it, “That’s wonderful sweetie, we’re so proud of you.”
It was Raymond’s turn to question, “What about you Myolie? What’s your occupation?”
“It’s nothing as great as what you or Nancy is doing.” Myolie answered.
“I’m sure it must be something you enjoy doing.”
“I teach piano.” She answered simply.
“Oh, so you’re into music too,” Raymond noted. “Nancy never told me.”
Myolie shook her head, “It’s nothing really.”

Raymond shook hands with his friend, Kevin, who was the owner of a music store as well as a music studio. “You’ll get that piano in for me, right.”
“No problem, it should get here by next week. I’ll give you a call then”
“Thanks man.” They continued to talk and Raymond threw his head back in laughter and gave Kevin a pat on the shoulder when something, or rather someone, caught his eye.
“What are you looking at?” Kevin asked, “Spot a babe here?”
“That’s my fiancée’s sister.”
“You mean Myolie?” Kevin asked. Raymond nodded, “She teaches piano here and in her spare time she’ll practice in the studio. She’s a real talent, but too bad she doesn’t use it. It’s quite a waste in my opinion.” Kevin stated. “She won so many awards when she was younger, if she had continued; I bet she could be famous right now.”
“Is there any way for me to listen in?” Raymond asked curiously.
“Invading her privacy, don’t you think? I haven’t gotten her permission…”
“I just want to hear her play and know what she sounds like.” Raymond tried to defend himself.
“I was just joking. You don’t have to be so serious. This is the control room and it connects to the practice studio. You know how to work the equipment right?” Raymond nodded, “And if she catches you and asks, I didn’t see you go in.” Kevin teased before leaving.
An hour later, Kevin went to check on Raymond, “Man, I can’t believe you’re still here. You’ve been listening to her the whole time.”
“She sounded perfect, almost flawless.” Raymond said unbelievably.
“I told you she was good.”
“Too good…too good to be wasted here.”
“Hey now, she teaches a lot of students I have here. They are paying big bucks just to have her as their instructor.” Raymond frowned upon hearing that Kevin was not willing to let go of Myolie. Kevin broke out into laughter, “I was only kidding man, I’ve always encouraged Myolie to get out there and do something great with her talent. If her opportunity has come, I won’t stop her.”
“Thanks buddy.” Raymond grabbed the disk and slipped it into his jacket pocket. “You know, I don’t think I’ve heard of the piece she played, do you know what it is?”
“It’s Myolie’s composition.”
“Not only does she play well, but she composes too. What else does she do? Let me guess, she sings too.” Raymond joked.
“Probably wouldn’t be a bad idea. I bet she has a beautiful voice.” Raymond nodded mindlessly as he was replaying the Myolie’s melody in his head.
Raymond stood outside waiting, “Myolie” he called when she came out.
“What a coincidence to run into you here.”
“Actually, I was waiting for you.” Raymond confessed.
Myolie was confused, “Waiting for me?”
“I heard you playing earlier and I want to offer you a job.” Myolie smile, shook her head and began rolling her wheelchair away. Raymond followed after her, “Is there something wrong?”
Myolie stopped her wheelchair, “Nothing is wrong, I’m just very content with my current job and I don’t feel the need for a new job.”
“But don’t you find yourself wasting your talent?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m just a very average piano player. I’m sure you can find someone much better than me.”
“If you call yourself average, I don’t know who you would consider to be exceptional.” Myolie continued along her path again, “Will you at least consider my offer.” Raymond asked.
Myolie stopped again, “I don’t think there is a need.” She left, leaving Raymond standing there dumbfound as to why she would not accept the job.

“How was work?” Nancy asked as he set the last dish down for dinner.
“It was okay, I went to see Kevin to see if he could help me get that piano.” He picked up some egg with his chopsticks and between bites he added, “I saw your sister today.”
“You saw Myolie, where?”
“At Kevin’s store, where she teaches. I heard her playing the piano, she was really good.”
“Yeah, Myolie won a lot of awards playing piano when she was younger.” It made Nancy think back to certain memories of when they were younger.
“I really wish she would come and work for me. Too bad she declined my offer.”
“Did she say why?” Nancy asked curiously.
“She said she was happy with her current job.” He took a few more bites of the egg, “Do you think you could ask her for me?”
Nancy was skeptical, but she gave Raymond a small smile and agreed, “Sure, I’ll ask her tomorrow when I go home for dinner.”
Raymond continued to praise Myolie, “I’ve never heard anyone play so well before…”
Nancy could not help but feel a little jealous hearing Raymond compliment Myolie. She hated how Myolie always stole the attention away from her. But she had faith in herself and Raymond; Myolie would not win the spotlight this time.
Plus, her return to Hong Kong this time, other than for Raymond’s business, was to patch things up with her parents and possible even Myolie. They were sisters after all.
