Chapter 13

“Justin, Amanda, how are you two doing?” Paul Chun, the host of the evening, asked.

“Mr. Chun, this is my girlfriend, Jenny Ching.”

“Jenny Ching? But she looks just like a woman I know whose name is”

“I know she looks like Amanda Lok.” Justin replied.

“I’m so sorry Miss Ching.” Paul apologized.

Suddenly many of the guests turned their head towards the entrance where the whispering had originated. Justin, Jenny, and Paul were not an exception as they also wanted to know what was happening.

The couple that had just arrived was the son of the multi-billionaire, William Feng, and his date, Amanda Lok. Camera flashes were going off in all directions as reporters were questioning the two if they were dating.

Paul looked at Jenny, then Amanda, then back at Jenny again. “I cannot imagine that two people can own the exact same face.”

William and Amanda made their way towards Paul, “Congratulations on your 40th anniversary with Auntie Gigi, Uncle Paul.” William said with a bright, handsome smile and a handshake.

William seemed to have taken notice of Justin and Jenny, who had both been staring at him and Amanda. He inclined his head forward in a polite manner.

Jenny stepped forward towards Amanda, “I’m Jenny Ching.” She put her hand out.

“I know,” Amanda replied coolly before walking off with William.

Justin had a hard time taking his gaze off Amanda. He watched as William would say something and then Amanda would be laughing the next moment.

He did not realize how he was staring at Amanda adoringly, but Jenny seemed to have noticed and finally suggested to Justin that they dance.

Eventually Amanda and William had joined the dance floor. As the two couple waltzed across the dance floor, they bumped into each other. Amanda and Justin’s eyes met.

“Justin, I’m not feeling too well, do you mind if we leave early?” Jenny asked.

“You’re not feeling well?” Justin asked concernedly, “Let’s get you home.”

After they had gone, Amanda could no longer keep her composure. She let her shoulders drop and as she watched them walk away she frowned sadly because she knew that he no longer cared about her.

Returning to their apartment, Justin gave Jenny her medication. He tucked her in and once he was sure she was asleep, he changed into a pair of jeans and a fleece. Then after checking once more on Jenny, he quietly slipped out to Amanda’s apartment.

The only thing that occupied his mind throughout the entire drive was Amanda. He had so many questions he wanted to ask her. Why had she pretended to be Jenny? What was her relationship with William Feng.

Jealousy had roused up inside of him, the same type of jealousy that had appeared in him that time her had seem her with Bosco. The time when he realized he liked her. And the time when they had started their relationship.

Justin’s greatest flaw, when it came to love relationships, was being too wishy-washy. He could not decide which woman he loved. They both had a spot in his heart. He could not deny that he loved Jenny. Yet, now that he had Jenny back, he felt an emptiness reside within himself. An emptiness because he missed her; her being Amanda Lok. The lost of Amanda from his life seemed to have taken a piece of him away.

Amanda continued to walk, failing to take notice that William had stopped. “Amanda” he called out. She looked next to her and realized that he was missing. She turned around and found him standing a few feet back. “We need to talk,” he sat down, “come sit down.”

He patted the seat next to him on the bench. Unwillingly, she walked over to him and took a seat. The cold metal of the bench hit her skin causing her to feel a chill run through her body.

“Tell me what’s wrong.” He asked her pleadingly.

“Nothing” she lied.

“Mandy, look at me, you know you cannot lie to me. How many years have we been friends? Close to ten years now. If I can’t tell that something is wrong then I should be ashamed to call myself your best friend.”

Amanda leaned on his shoulder and cried, “I really love him, but I know I’m not the one he loves.”

“Mandy, you are a wonderful person. He’s a fool for not noticing what he’s missing out.” He ruffled her hair, “Don’t cry silly.”

“Will, when I become old, wrinkly, and unwanted, will you take care of me?” Amanda asked.

“No matter how old and wrinkly you become, you will still be a beauty in my heart and you most certainly will not go unwanted because there will be me.”

Amanda chuckled, “You and your sweet talks.”

He wrapped his arm around her shoulder, “I practically see you as my sister. I will always be there for you.”

She hugged him tightly, “Thanks Will.”

“You better get one good hug because this may be the last one in a while.”

“Why? Where are you going? Are you going back to Shanghai so soon? I thought you were staying in Hong Kong for a while.”

“I’m flying to New York tomorrow night.” He told her. “But if Justin Cheung even dares to bully you and make you cry again, you let me know and I’ll be on the next flight back to teach him a lesson.” Amanda laughed. “What you don’t think I can take him on?” She laughed harder and he laughed with her. Finally he became serious, “Promise me that you won’t shed anymore tears because of him.” Amanda nodded.

Together they walked back to Amanda’s apartment, laughing and giggling. William saw Justin pacing in front of the main gate. He signaled with his eyes for Amanda to look over. Her eyes met with Justin and he walked over towards the two.

“Amanda, can we talk?”

“I’ll call you later.” William said to Amanda. She nodded.

Amanda began to walk towards her apartment building. Justin pulled her back, “I want to know why you left. Why did you pretend to be Jenny? Why did you lie to me?” He asked, each word carried the hurt he had felt by her actions.

“Does it matter?” She asked nonchalantly. “You are back with Jenny are you not?”

“I…she is ill.”

“Is that what she told you?”

“She had cancer.”

“I don’t care, Justin, just admit it, she’s the one you love.”

Justin walked up and forced a kissed on Amanda. She backed away and slapped him. “That’s enough Justin Cheung. Will you please not torture me like this.” Amanda bit her lower lip to keep from crying. “I’ve had enough. I’m trying to moved on and just forget about you, about us, why must you do this to me?” she questioned as a tear rolled down her cheek. She used the back of her hand to wipe it away.

She walked away. Justin chased after her, “Amanda”

She looked at him pleadingly, “Please, just let me be.”

He took one last look at her. Her words replayed in his mind, ‘I’m trying to move on and just forgot about you, about us…’ This perhaps marked the end of their relationship.

Hope everyone liked Feng Shao Fung’s guest appearance. Two more chapters!

celes: I’m glad I got the right person….I’ve been wondering for a long time but I keep forgetting to ask and finally I remembered. Haha…hope you didn’t end up drowning in your history books….I’m about to drown in my notes for cell bio….Oh….you don’t want to make a guess….lol, are you afraid that I will change my story just to be different….lol, jk….

my0t1 sis – Haha, that is Justin’s big flaw, indecisiveness. Haha, you and triumph sis both thought that Feng Shao Fung would be Amanda’s ex….how funny…I’m sorry for making that mistake, I thought you were in the same age group as hkangel, MagicSwallow, and Dawnlite….haha…I doubt that you are much older than us. Oh, I thought about engineering back in high school….is it any special field? Chemical, Civil, Mechanical?

haha08 – Am I making it confusing…lol…I’m trying to trick you guys….haha, well, most people are supporting Amanda, but she just ended the relationship officially…

sd – haha, Justin seemed not to know, but then again when he did…Amanda seemed to not want to be with him…what am I studying? I am going to Pharmacy school.. I don’t really consider myself very smart….but thanks for thinking so…lol…

Lamer – Thanks for reading and commeting!

Tcc- are you a Myolie fan? Thanks for your comment!

PinkAngel sis – keep trying to figure it out…otherwise you will find out soon enough...no, Feng Shao Fung wasn’t Jenny’s doctor, but that would have been a good character for him….

guesswho – Thanks for the comment!

triumph sis – Feng was only a good friend of Amanda…. That would have been a good idea to have his name be Justin…lol….then there would be two Justin’s and everyone would be happy…that would be something very typical of me to do probably since I’m all about happy endings, most of the time at least. You probably hate me after this chapter….especially the last line….it’s the end of Justin and Amanda…

Joyce sis – Yup I updated again, I was so proud of myself. School has been going somewhat slow this week so I still have time to fool around and get with people to hang out. You don’t know who you want Justin to be with? LOL…Well, you’ll find out very soon who he will end up with.

MistyK sis – I’m glad you enjoyed the chapter! Haha, I liked your idea of the role Feng Shao Fung should play too. That would have been good. I take it you are in full support of Amanda. LOL…

Tracy sis – Haha, Justin does love Amanda…he even kissed her! But Amanda wants to move on…..ekk…What did you think of Feng Shao Fung?

nachos_ger sis – I liked triumph sis’s idea too, if only I had thought of it sooner. LOL You’re still rooting for Amanda huh….we’ll you’ll see soon….
