Chapter 43

Epilogue

Sun light was breaking its way through covered windows into stuffy room. The mirrors, hanged all over across the four walls, seemed to double the heat twice. And the thing that really was missing in this image probably was a powerful air conditioner.

Somehow five muscular figures, dancing along catchy music rhythm, didn’t care about that. All their attention was focused on steps they had to make, turning their exhausted and sweaty body actions into harmonious movements.
Step to right. Jump. Bent down. Up. Left. Turn around.
Everything continued in lasting line, followed by memorized steps.

“Repeat last part. You made a mistake again, Yunho. Maybe it’s enough to practice for today, you can rest if you’re tired.” a thirty years old or so trainer said.

“No. Leader can’t do mistakes” Yunho replied to trainer and continued to repeat his dance moves.

“It’s okay, Yunho, let’s go” Junsu said and now the persistent guy had to give up to his friends plea, since everyone else already were packing their stuff.

“We are debuting after few days, don’t you guys care?”

“We already know everything. It’s perfect, Yunho. We are just nervous. It’s normal. Besides we aren’t robots, if we’ll do a mistake, we’ll do, so what?”

“So what?! You’re saying so what? After transferring to new company, after working our asses out this whole time, you just say so what?! Did we work all this time for nothing? We have some expectations, you know, it’s not like we gona show up and everyone will fell to their knees. It’s not that simple. This isn’t Korea.”

“That’s why everything will be fine, we worked hard, hyung.”
Yunho was determined to brick again but a loud sneeze disturbed his thoughts, and voices in the room settled down.

“Who just sneezed now? Don’t tell me someone is sick?” Yunho asked, but this time with concern and worry.

“Nah, I guess it’s from dust” Changmin said covering his nose.

“Go to hospital” Yunho said simply.

“But-“

“No buts, go to hospital. End of conversation.”

“It’s really not necessary, hyung. Besides I don’t know this city yet. It may be worse if I’ll get lost, so I just stay at the hotel for today and rest. I’m sure I’ll be fine.”

“JaeJoong knows where the hospital is, he’s been stalking everything here with his new camera, right, Jae?”

“I’m not stalking. I just want to have something to look at when we’ll come back to Asia. Things really are different here and no one will believe me if I’ll just tell them, I need proves” JaeJoong replied.

“Whatever, just take him to hospital and we’ll make dinner at home.”

“Yay! Ice-cream!” Junsu jumped excitedly.

“Ice cream is not good for your tummy, Su, we can boil some soup, okay?” Yoochun came closer to Junsu hugging him from the back, which made other guys look away to the window, flies or other not so disturbing things.

“If the soup won’t be pretty, you’re dead. Now let’s go, Changmin” JaeJoong said taking his bag.

They went down the stairs toward the green sign “exit”.

“I’m really not sick” Changmin complained.

“Just think of it as an opportunity to escape that dull gym. We are here for more then a month, but we didn’t even check the clubs. I even feel embarrassed, can you believe that?”

“You feel embarrassed because you didn’t knock some chick in the club? Geez, you wasn’t like that few years ago.”

“Ah, my little Changmin, at first I didn’t say a word about any chick, it’s you to whom clubs associate with fucking.”

“You know they don’t.”

“Don’t play a monk. Besides we are getting older, you should find yourself a nice woman, Changmin, something to marry, you know.”

“Find it yourself.” Changmin replied and met his friend’s eyes, which looked too pitiful to look at; he turned away, thinking he have better kept that last phrase to himself. “You know she’s not coming back, so you should use your advise yourself…and by the way, your suggestions are kinda late, I didn’t want to tell anyone, but if it happens like this….before we took off with the plane, there was someone, waiting for me, at least she said she will. I never considered her seriously, but when you said this, I remembered her words, that she’ll wait for me no matter what.”

“What’s her name?” JaeJoong asked.

“Crystal…that’s why you should find someone too, otherwise you’ll simply look like a pathetic gay.”

“I actually don’t really care.”

While they were walking through buzzing streets, JaeJoong was taking pictures, which seemed quite funny for Changmin, since you can google every museum or anything anyway.

“Aww, do you see those cute little kids?” JaeJoong spoke again.

“Over there, look.” He pointed at playground after Changmin looked around unsuccessfully.

They came closer to playing kids. Some of them were building sand castles, some played star wars, and rest, well rest were doing nothing except for searching treasures in their nostrils. After a while, JaeJoong and Changmin noticed two kids that somehow didn’t fit to these three categories. They were sitting on small yellow bench, counting something under their noses.

“Hey, little ones, why aren’t you playing with your friends?” JaeJoong asked.

“We don’t have friends.” The girl raised her head and answered.

She was about four years old, rare beauty, with dark hair, pale skin, and raspberry lips. JaeJoong was surprised not only by the fact how such a pretty girl can be without friends, what really seemed strange to him were girl’s eyes. Her gaze was mysterious and kind of sad, but this gave even more advantage to her big blue eyes, moreover, without a doubt she was at least half Asian.

“So why such a pretty girl doesn’t have friends?” Changmin asked while JaeJoong still stood with open jaw.

“Because others say that we are different. They say that we are weird. And that our eyes are odd. And they don’t want to play with us” little girl complained with every word puffing her bottom lip.

“Then forget those jerks, they didn’t deserved to be with such princess like you. Here.” Changmin took some candies from his bag.

“Thank you” the kid that sat beside girl took the candies and shove them into his mouth.

“Hey-“ Changmin wanted to object to the thief, but he looked identically the same as the pretty girl, except the fact that he was dressed in blue and had shorter hair.

“So you’re siblings or what?” Changmin asked confused.

“Uhu, this is my brother Chang Soo, and I’m Jandi.”

“Nice to meet you Jandi, and Chang Soo.” Changmin shook their small hands.

“Ahjussi, we are the same, see.” Girl pointed at her eyes.

“Yeah, haven’t you ever seen Asians before?”

“Nope, nope, nope and we can’t talk to strangers. Besides today mommy gets that new job, Jandi, we should pick those flowers for her” Chang Soo said suddenly and ran away. For a moment Jandi hesitated, but then she stood up from the bench too, bowed, and ran after her brother.

“Did you take their picture?” Changmin asked smiling turning to JaeJoong.

“No.”

“Why? Those kids were so beautiful. I wish I could have their picture.”

“Me too.” JaeJoong replied, but his thoughts were somewhere else.

“You know they remind me of something, but I can’t remember exactly what.”

“Me too.”

They walked down the alley leaving the kids playground far behind their backs. The red cross appeared in their sight and they headed towards the building without any word.

“Your blood pressure doesn’t seem good. I’m afraid we’ll have to do analysis.”

“Analysis? What analysis?” Changmin asked the nurse with fear in his eyes.

“Oh don’t worry just to take some blood and this” she put a small plastic bottle on the table.

“What am I suppose to do with it?”

“You have to pee in it, you dork” JaeJoong said.

“The bathroom is at the end of the corridor; when you’ll finish just bring this to laboratory, which is on the second floor, okay sweetie?”

“Yeah” Changmin said confused and left.

“Look, you go do your thing, and I’ll wait outside of the hospital, somewhere near the front door, okay? Sweetie?” JaeJoong teased.

“Yeah, sure.” Changmin groaned.

Finally the weather chilled out a bit and JaeJoong enjoyed warm summer evening outside. He watched how young and old people were passing him without any interest. It reminded him times when he wasn’t famous, when he was poor kid, wondering around the streets, but those days were so far away, it seemed that they actually never existed.
And now again, he was found alone in unfamiliar streets, with no hint of rich & famous.

From all the people that were circling around area, JaeJoong suddenly saw a familiar face. Two familiar faces. Adorable kids he saw with Changmin at playground, but this time they weren’t alone. A tall and handsome blond man was carrying the girl in his arms and holding boy’s hand. Somehow JaeJoong wanted to take those kids away from the man, who at the first sight already seemed odd to him.

“Mommy! Mommy!” Jandi started calling. She stretched her hands that held a lily blossom to the air, trying to reach something, but no woman was in sight. At least for few seconds, until two arms gracefully took little one and pressed her cute face to warm chest covered with white silky dress.

JaeJoong watched everything in slow motion. How dark hair twisted in air, how sun shine on all of their smiling faces, how unfamiliar man hugged the woman and how they begun to move away from him. Leaving him on cold stairs.
He wanted to scream, to shout as in one of those nightmares when you can’t wake up, but he couldn’t, his muscles were paralyzed.

Small rain drops begun to fall from sky and JaeJoong blinked, reviving his senses.

“Wait!” he screamed from all of his lungs.

Everyone turned at him, thinking that he run away from psychiatry across the street. Except for one person.
The women that held little Jandi in her arms turned around, and faced JaeJoong, not letting her eyes away from him. She put down the child, and stepped forward to the man that called her.

JaeJoong did the same and soon just two steps where between them.

They looked at each other and you couldn’t tell if it was rain that started to pour, or tears rolling down their faces.

“Jae-Joong…is that really you?” woman asked with trembling voice.

JaeJoong couldn’t keep the waiting. He already waited more then four years. And now the chance came up the least he expected to. He brushed her pale face with his fingertips and realized that it’s the same skin he used to cherish, the same blue eyes he used to look at, the same hair he used to smell from far away. This isn’t nightmare; he finally woke up from it.

“If I could turn back time, I would have done everything to keep you. I’m sorry I didn’t.” JaeJoong whispered.

Have you ever felt how life hits you when sun sets in golden summer fields? Have you ever felt how blue butterflies lands in your stomach and it feels like you just won the jackpot? Have you ever met someone that may bring you a new perfect world just because that someone is here beside you?

He took her in his arms, hugging her gently, afraid that her fragile image may fade away. Their arms were tight around each other, uniting their bodies.

Sudden warmth overwhelmed JaeJoong’s body. He felt her heartbeat, her breaths, her smell and warmth. And he wasn’t going to let go of all of this time.

The women looked at the men that hold her tightly, of course she was happy. All the days she had spend after coming back home were challenges one after another and now all of this somehow seemed worth suffering.

JaeJoong wanted to say the words he has been keeping in his heart for so long, but his mouth was shut with longing kiss, they both were greedy for.
Their lips couldn’t part. It seemed they belonged together, like there’s no other use for them just to taste each others raspberry scent. This was the magic they missed in their life, and now when it was back it seemed so good… maybe even too good.

“Alex” a man behind their backs called.

The women suddenly turned around and faced the blond tall man, holding her precious little girl.

And this was the moment when JaeJoong’s heart sank.

He couldn’t believe that this was happening. That once again he may loose his happiness.

“Edward…I-I…This is JaeJoong” Alex said slowly. “JaeJoong, this is Edward”

“It can’t be.” Edward replied. “So this is that fuck who hurt you then” he said coming closer.

“Yeah. This is the fuck that loves her, and he isn’t going to give up this time.” JaeJoong interrupted.

Alex turned to him; she couldn’t hide her smile after those words. The small girl that was hiding inside her giggled and screamed ‘hooray!’ .

“Then I assume you’re familiar with Jandi and Chang Soo.” Edward said and kissed girl’s forehead not letting his eyes away from JaeJoong.

Jandi watched how amazement appeared on handsome man’s face, she saw back then in the park.

“Yeah, uncle, we met him already, he had this big black camera” she said showing a big circle in the air.

Despite her cute actions, the ache in JaeJoong’s throat was moving up, choking him. He breathed hardly, until his eyes finally let go of Jandi’s face.

“Alex…” he whispered.

She led him by his arm closer to the kids, took the girl from Edward’s arms and spoke.

“JaeJoong, please meet my family: my junior son - Chang Soo, my adorable daughter – Jandi, and my caring brother – Edward. So then let me ask you one thing: would you like to join the club, and be part of the family?”

A colorful rainbow appeared in bright sky, passing out the dark clouds.

“From the moment I saw you…I loved you. Everything: your daydreaming, when you look at passing by people; your smell, which spreads all over the room; they way you sleep curled up in sheets, the way you can’t cook, the way you always try your best, even if you sometimes mess up cutely. I love the days and nights you were by my side. And I can’t wait longer for those times to come back. Because I love you.” JaeJoong said looking directly into blue Alex’s eyes the same ones as Jandi’s and into Chang Soo’s, the same ones as his own.

He stepped forward and bended in front of a boy.

“I’m not a stranger.” JaeJoong said to him “I promise, you’ll never feel lonely, just let me be with you, let me take care of you.”

Little Chang Soo for a moment looked into man’s face, exploring his features.

“Okay.” He replied simply and hugged his small arms around JaeJoong’s neck.

He lifted up the boy holding him tightly and faced Alexandra with Jandi in her embrace.

“So you’re in?” she smiled.

“Do I have a choice?” he chuckled and took her closer to him.

“Actually… No. There isn’t any other way then this. Now shut up and kiss me. “She replied, sliding her fingers into his soft hair and reaching for his sweet desirable dazzling lips…

I would turn around and you are always there smiling at me
Always like a gentle breeze

You were so dazzling that i could close my eyes
Turning into teardrops

I've trusted only you
And I've hurt only you
After all, we were always looking for a future
A future far away from us

When i stop walking, and you for some reason would look down
Quietly, like falling raindrops

There is no change from the day we met
even if we turn into teardrops

My eyes are only on you
It's got to be you
After all, we were always dreaming of a future
A future far away from us...
