He look at her with the same face. “Oh, yes. I’m glowing of happiness”
“Hey, what happened?!” She asked eagerly but he just laugh out loud without saying something and then continue to cook.
“Weird.” She muttered.
“You what?! You kissed him?!” Lei asked Kate who is sitting quietly at her bed with her knees up in her chest and chin rested to her knees.
She nods slowly. “A kissed of death.” Kate said under her breath. “Am I an evil? I did that to him.” Her tone is very low and with no emotions.
“Yeah, you’re an evil because you’re not just going to hurt him you also gave him a venom.” Lei sit with her in the bed and comfort her. “Kate, you can still change your plans. You know what he will feel, you’ve been this before. So please don’t do it.”
Kate hugs her friend and just cries on her shoulder. “Lei…please…” And as the time of that day passes by the misery is slowly sucking every bit of her. Time is like moving slowly taking one hour into one year and second into hour.
He takes a deep breath to at least lessen the nervousness he’s feeling inside him and the butterfly in his stomach. “You can do it Andy, just give her a call and ask her out.”
“That’s not it, what if she said no to me?”
“Huh! I don’t think so. She loves you, I think…Why? You’re scared?”
“O-f course not! “ Andy quickly defended his self but then admits it. “B-but…kinda, I guess. By the way, who’s not?! I don’t want to get busted!”
“Just give her a call and then ask her out! You, I mean WE prepared this the whole day so don’t waste it. Go! Go!”
“Kay… Kay…just shut your mouth.” He’s dialing her phone number when his phone rings. He answers it and chokes up when he hears her voice. “Andy, I need to say something. We need to see.” Though her tone is sad Andy did not notice it.
“Good, I was about to invite you. I’ll send you where we will meet at exactly 7pm.” He shuts his phone excitingly and at the same time nervously. “Yes! Yes! She ask me out and she’s going to say something to me.”
“Don’t forget all my tips, okay?”
“Yeah, I can do it. It’s just a simple thing. Asking her to be my girlfriend and plus I can feel she does loves me back.”
“Yeah! That’s the spirit!”
Excitingly Andrei rush to go to his room and starts to preparer his self. He takes a bath and put his new suit. It’s a white tuxedo with a red ribbon and a white leather shoes, he also fixes his hair and puts a perfume. With his looks you’ll mistaken him as a prince. After which he hit the road to get the flowers that he ordered and also to prepare it to the restaurant. When he gets to the restaurant he prepares it without wasting every second. Every now and then he’s checking his watch to see how much time he has left so that to make sure everything will be on place before she arrives. It’s already 7pm when Andy finally finishes it all and with relieve he wait for her to come.
The door of the restaurant opens slowly making Andy nervous. As soon as Kate opens her eyes she was surprise of what she is seeing. There are different flowers everywhere, and each of the flowers has small twinkling lights with also different colors. A background music is being play that is a violin melody which is her favorite. Then Andy appears walking in the aisle of flower looking very handsome with his suit. He offers his hand to guide her in their table like a princess. While walking Kate look at his beautiful and happy face having a thought that this maybe the last time she will ever gonna see him happy like this. Kate look away trying to hold back her tears but still it runs down in her cheek. She wipes it with her hand carefully so Andy will not notice it. When they get to the table Kate did not sit and has a serious looks in his face, Andy become confuse and nervous. Confuse because all of a sudden Kate become serious and nervous because of what she’ll about to do or say. But before she say anything Andy, interrupts her. “I know it’s been 2 weeks since I told you what I feel for you. But I want this to be more formal and more romantic. Kate…I…” Kate did not allow him to finish his sentence and cuts him with a sarcastic laugh that made Andy confuse.
Aunt Jen can’t stay in one place she’s pacing back and forth in their living room, very worried about the plan of her niece. “Do you think this is right? Letting her to do this?” She asked to Lin who is worried sitting in the couch.
“Aunt Jen, this is all wrong but…she’s doing this for him and we’re doing this for her. We can’t afford to see her like before, she was a living dead until Andy saved her.”
“But we’re going to loose her too.” She said as she sits beside Lin. “Please, Nate…take care for her.” Aunt Jen, beg to Nate that’s outside the restaurant where Kate and Andy is. Lin puts her arm around Aunt Jen and answers her. “He will…he will…”
Kate stop for a while and takes a deep breath before she looks in his face. “So you’re doing this all for me? Haha! So stupid and pathetic!!” She said sarcastically. “Andrei are you dumb? I don’t love you and did not love you!”
Still confuse Andrei look at her with his very cold and serious face. “What are you doing? I don’t understand a word.”
“Okay, let me tell you what my problem is. What we had together is all according to my plan. This is all revenge! For the parents of Nate!”
“Who the hell is Nate?” he asked with his normal cold tone voice.
With stiff look she says. “My…Boyfriend…who lost his parents because your grandfather killed them. And that Nate is Nathan whom you all know is my brother.”
Andrei’s eyes did not go anywhere it just stayed in her eyes. “Why are you doing this to me? Is this your way of sending me away? I know because I already did this to you before.” Kate stays her eyes into his and all she can see in it is nothing. It’s empty, he’s not angry nor surprise but she can feel from his voice that he is hurt. “Kate, is there any problem? If you’re not ready yet I can give you time and space. I can wait.” He said calmly and not like begging.
“I don’t need to waste your time and especially my time thinking if I do love you. I told you I don’t. I already have a boyfriend. Is that hard to understand?”
His eyes also change from cold ones to very soft. “So you’re telling me this all your plan?! A stupid revenge?! All you’ve done? All your smile? Your laugh, your cry, your pain, your kiss and your…love? He said feeling every pain in it and even Kate felt that, that’s why it made her tears fall down to her cheeks but she quickly wipe it out. “Andrei, this is over just accept it!” She runs away not minding her violet satin dress to get ruin while Andy did not do anything but to watch her run away from him but as he watch her without noticing it teardrops run down in his face. Until he remembers what he said to her at the beach and so he follows her but when he gets outside from a far he see her hugging Nathan but it’s all like comforting her. Then they go in the car and drive off.
Without any thoughts he run after the car and just go as fast as he can. “Kate! Kate! Kate!!!” He called.
While in the car Kate did not stop crying in Nate’s arms. “I did it…I did it…” She said sadly while sobbing. Nate put his hand at her head and taps it lightly. “Kate, he’s following us…You can still change your mind. You can stop the car and think of another plan.” Nate suggested but her decision has been made.
With sweat all over him his feet did not slow down. His heart and mind sets only to reach on her. Then rain starts to fall down like the heaven is crying with them and having it’s sympathy to them. While running after the car Andy slowly recall all their memories and think if it’s all just according to her plan. Then he calls her again still don’t want to believe of what she said.
As the door swing open Aunt Jen and Lin are waiting there to comfort her. She hugs Jen and cries in her, like a child. “I-I can’t even look into his face. I really did hurt him.” But then suddenly something breaks her tears. She hears his voice calling out loud outside. And whenever he calls her name they can feel that he is really hurt and how he really does loves her.
“Please tell him to go now.” She beg on Nate to tell Andy that but before he continue to go Kate handed Nate something. “And Nate, give him this.” Kate handed to Nate her black thin sweater.
“Do you think he will still believe that you hate him if you’ll gonna give your own jacket?”
“Just make some excuse; I don’t want him to get sick.”
So Nate take an umbrella from the car and left there the jacket then he go straight to Andy. “Yow!”
“Nathan, where is Kate?”
“You can call me Nate since you now know that I’m not really sick that its all a lie. I’m not her brother I’m Nathan Ho.”
“Shut up! Just call Kate! I don’t wanna talk to you!” Andy said angrily while holding his collar under the strong rain. Nate did not react but he just open the umbrella. “I need to talk to her! Please.”
“You already heard everything and that’s all the truth. Just accept that I’m her boyfriend.”
“No! Because I know you’re not!” Angrily Andy grip the collar of Nate really hard.
“Well, I don’t care. Now, go! She doesn’t want to talk to you.”
He releases his grip to him and just stand there. “Then I’ll have to wait here till she shows up.” His fierce but eager eyes look straight into Nate’s. In just a minute Kate walk in. “Kate.” Both of them said in unison. Nate quickly put the umbrella on her but she takes it and whisper to him that she can do it by herself. So Nate leave them and goes back inside the house.
As soon as Nate leaves Andy speak to her. “Remember what I told you? I will follow you so whatever your problem is I will always be here.”
Kate can’t afford to see his painful face so she tries to avoid it. “My problem is already over because I can see you hurt now.” She said as coldly as she can.
“If that’s so then why do you have to tell me that I should not love you? Don’t tell me it’s part of your plan.” He moves closer to her under the umbrella and look at her eyes straightly. She quickly turns her back at him and her tears falls down again. He hug her very tight like he doesn’t want to let her go. Even if it’s really painful for Kate she put all her courage to say these words. “Don’t ever show your face to me again. I don’t want to see you anymore.” She’s about to break into his arms when Andy ask her something that she’s afraid to hear. “For the last time before I let you go just tell me honestly. Did you not really love me?” Kate bites her lip and then covers her mouth to keep her sobbing quiet. “Yes, I did…not.” So it is then when Andy decides to let go of her and sacrifice his own self just to make her happy that’s how much he loves her but what he don’t know Kate love him more than of anyone can expected.
