-AARON’S POV:-
“hmmm…” Guigui moaned as she tried to open her eyes.
“Gui… Are you… are you okay?” I asked.
“Aaron?”
“Yeah Gui? I’m here” I said as I held her hand.
She no longer said anything. ~
-GUIGUI’S POV:-
As soon as he held my hand, I felt calmer, as to knowing he was with me. I sighed and had not said another word. I wanted him there, despite my hatred for him. Hatred? I begin to question myself with that word. Do I really hate Aaron? He’s not the cold person I met. He’s much nicer and better. I personally think that he’s the nicest rich guy I’ve ever met. All that I forced myself in thinking was that I had to recover fast. Tomorrow’s our flight to Boracay!
“Guigui… Are you okay?” Sr. Yan asked.
I slightly opened my eyes and looked up. There I saw Sr. and Mrs. Yan looking at me dearly, with a worried face on. “Wo… I’m fine” I sighed, still looking at their innocent faces. I had never felt so much people caring for me. I have never seen anyone show as much love as the Yan family. When the secretary told Ah Pei, Xiao Mei, and I that Aaron was forced by his parents, emphasizing Aaron’s dad, to work non-stop for the business, I found it all a lie. I had questioned the reason for such lies being shared to the public. Sometimes, I feel as if I’ve known them forever… But it’s impossible. There’s no way I could have such relation with this family… but there must be a reason why they treat me like this. Why do they care greatly on an assistant?
“Guigui, will you be able to go to Boracay with Aaron?” Mrs. Yan asked eagerly. She held my hand tight, as Aaron was holding the other hand, and looked at me. She squeezed it and took a deep breath. “Guigui, we can’t afford to lose you… so please be careful next time okay? We’ll have a talk with Selina to clear things out, just rest for now.” Sr. Yan encouraged. We can’t afford to lose you? What did that mean?
Sr. and Mrs. Yan exited the hospital room, leaving me alone with Aaron.
“Ya Lun, what did they mean by they can’t afford to lose me?” I asked him, preventing eye contact. “I don’t know. They must really care for you, Gui.” Aaron smiled. This made me feel good, but at the same time confused. Why did I mean so much? I have to get to the bottom of this…
-AARON’S POV:-
What Guigui asked me made me wonder… mom and dad are hiding something. They are hiding something great. I have to figure it out. I have too…
I then looked at Guigui who looked confused herself. She slowly let her eyelids close. I squeezed her hand, afraid that she might let go. Was Selina right? Did I really change? I looked at Guigui, who was now fast asleep, and whispered, “Ever Since I Met You…” I smiled and continued, “Ever Since I Met You, I’ve found the true meaning of love. The true meaning of actually caring for someone besides myself. Though I may not be sure of my feelings towards you, I know that I always want you beside me…”
It all seemed to happen fast. Just earlier today, I acted like I didn’t care seeing her with Jiro. Yes, I didn’t care, but I also wanted Selina to disappear. “Hmph, I see how it is Aaron.” Someone said from the back. It sounded familiar… Selina! “Look, if you’re looking for trouble, just leave. Find it somewhere else. I can’t tolerate with your nonsense, Selina.” I seriously said, looking her straight in the eyes. “Just remember Aaron… I have so much against you. Leave me, and you and your family will be hurt. Especially that Guigui of yours.” Selina smirked and walked away. She herself changed! Even if I changed, it was for the better. I don’t even know Selina anymore. All I knew was, she wasn’t the one I liked…
2 hours later – 7:00 pm:
“hmm” Guigui moaned as she tossed and turned on her hospital bed. She was indeed uncomfortable. Maybe she got too used with the luxurious beds at home… “Aaron?” Guigui straightened her body and looked at Aaron who was now lying his head down on the bed beside her. Her hand was still wrapped in his. Her sudden move startled Aaron, as he immediately stood up and stared at Guigui. “Guigui, are you okay now? Ready to go home?” He asked her with sweet smile on his face. “What time is it?” Guigui asked. “It’s past 7:00 pm.” Aaron answered. “Oh okay…” Guigui sighed. “Anything wrong?” Aaron asked as he picked up her bags and belongings. “Oh nothing. I’m just nervous. I don’t think I can face Selina anymore…” Guigui answered. Aaron walked towards her and hugged her. Instead of pushing him away, Guigui wrapped her arms around him, still worried. “It’ll be okay. I’ll be here for you.” He ensured her. They broke the hug and headed for the front desk.
“Miss, patient 235 is checking out.” Aaron told the front lady.
“Okay. Just sign here, and you’ll be able to leave.” The lady replied.
As they made their way down to the parking lot, Guigui looked at Aaron, making Aaron look back at her. She stood for a moment, and then asked: “Why are you so nice all of a sudden?” Aaron placed their bags down and stared Gui straight in her eyes: “You really want to know? Truth is, I think I’m…” before Aaron could continue, Guigui cut him off and said: “Save it. Let’s go.”
Guigui skipped to the car without any further ado. Though it looked as if she didn’t care, she really wanted to know what he was going to say, but she had stopped him because she didn’t want any feelings developed between them. Why? Because she hated guys. Yes, it’s been years since the last person who broke her heart, but she didn’t want to risk it. She got too hurt to move on…
