(23 June 2004 – Wednesday – HH hospital – Gallen’s ward – 3.45 p.m.)
TAVIA: (looking at her watch) Where had your Gor gone? Lost in time?
RAYMOND: I think he’s still visiting Prof Chan, but… (sighs)
TAVIA: Hey, Ray, don’t you agree with me? There is no right or wrong in love!
RAYMOND: I don't know whether I can agree fully or not…
TAVIA: That’s your Gor, don’t you think you should support him?
RAYMOND: But I don’t believe in being a third party. In either direction, there will be someone hurt!
TAVIA: Speaking from personal experience?
RAYMOND: (forces a smile) I know exactly how it feels to be hurt, and I don’t want to my Gor to be hurt!
TAVIA: Can’t you have some confidence in him? How do you know for sure that he’ll fail?
RAYMOND: That’s even worse! He will be a wrecking their happy family!
TAVIA: Ray, seriously, there’s something that I truly believe – Fate!
RAYMOND: Fate?
TAVIA: I don’t really believe it in the past, but now I seriously do, it takes more than love to keep a couple together, do you know that? (Raymond sighs) Thinking about Michelle again? You’re sure stubborn, man!
RAYMOND: How can I just forget someone I love so easily?
TAVIA: Awww… what can I say? It runs in the family?
RAYMOND: (smiles) Maybe!
TAVIA: Then you should try to support your Gor! Listen to me, life is short and one should pursue the best he or she wants! If not, his or her life will be just wasted like that!
RAYMOND: (chuckles) That means at the extent of hurting others?
TAVIA: Who has never hurt others before? It’s inevitable! When your mum was carrying you, wasn’t she experiencing pain? When she was giving birth to you, wasn’t the pain almost unbearable? When you were rejoicing over your success in some competition, wasn’t someone disappointed because he or she did not clinch the trophy? Therefore, everything you do, there will be some regrets, but it is so unavoidable! What can I say? That is life! Reality! And sometimes it does hurt!
GALLEN: (entering) Well said!
RAYMOND: (turning around) Gor?
TAVIA: (grins) Hi, Gallen Gor!
GALLEN: (proceeding to his bed) Hi, Tavia!
RAYMOND: Of course you’ll agree with her, Gor! You two are on the same side!
GALLEN: (smiles) But doesn’t that makes sense, Ray? Think!
RAYMOND: Yes, but… I still think…
GALLEN: Think what? You think and hesitate so much, Ray! That way, you’ll only age faster!
TAVIA: (chuckling) Agree!
RAYMOND: (shakes his head) I can’t outtalk you two!
TAVIA: Then do try to accept our theory of love!
RAYMOND: (smiles) I’ll try. But Gor, you went to visit Prof Chan?
GALLEN: Uh huh.
RAYMOND: So how is she?
GALLEN: Still the same, but at least she’s out of danger, that’s a console. But I wonder what I can do for her further…
RAYMOND: But Gor, staying in the hospital won’t help! You shouldn’t waste the hospital’s resources!
GALLEN: Hey, you sound like I am doing this on purpose. I’m unwell, ok? Sometimes I really wonder if you’re my natural brother! Ada and Tavia sounds more like my siblings!
TAVIA: Because we support you!
RAYMOND: Don’t support blindly, Tavia!
GALLEN: (teasingly) How I wish you were my little sister-in-law and take care of this troublesome Sai Lo of mine on my behalf! (winks)
TAVIA: (blushing) Awww… Gallen Gor, I’m on your side and you’re teasing me!
GALLEN: (chuckles) Don’t you think so, Ray?
RAYMOND: Hey, Gor! Better worry about yourself first!
GALLEN: (recalls) Ah, Tavia, can you get me some colored papers? Those used for handcraft!
TAVIA: Oh… you do want to fold paper cranes for Prof Chan?
GALLEN: Uh huh, as much as possible, if you can!
TAVIA: (winks) Ok, no problem!
RAYMOND: (shakes his head) You two are so childish!
GALLEN: I am still considering whether to disown you!
RAYMOND: Hey! (lets out a gasp) Ok, I’ll support you, will that do?
GALLEN: Sounds a bit insincere, but I’ll make do with it!

(outside ward)
TAVIA: (smiles) I’m glad at least Gallen Gor sounds better!
RAYMOND: Yep, at least he could joke now! Anyway, thanks!
TAVIA: No problem, helping others would bring me joy too! (saw Sammul) Hey Sam! (to Ray) Excuse me!
Tavia walks to Sammul and chatted loquaciously like a sparrow to the latter, as usual. Raymond did something he had never done before, he took some time to observe her, her mannerism, her little gestures. For the first time, he finds her rather adorable. Perhaps he shouldn’t reject her outright that time! But she was still taking it so easy and remaining friends with him. A bright grin starts to dawn on his face. And he counted himself lucky! For having such a cheerful... friend? Or could it be a little more than that?

(The next day – 24 June 2004 – Thursday – HH hospital – 6.30 p.m.)
Roger held Flora’s hand tightly and caresses her cheek lovingly. Ada was silently accompanying him by the side. She felt confused again. If she were Flora, she would choose Roger with no regrets. He had been treating Flora so well and standing by her side to brave all weathers and storms with her. If she had such a boyfriend, she would die smilingly.
But there was Gallen, someone she adores, someone she promised to support! Was she planning to break her word? But that doesn’t sound very nice. Should she toss a coin to decide?
JESSICA: (knocked and entered) Roger…
ROGER: Jess? What’s the matter?
JESSICA: I need your signature urgently for this document, and… (taking something out) This is for Flora, it’s from Wong Tai Sin.
ROGER: (receiving) An amulet? Thanks, Jess!
JESSICA: You’re welcome, I would like to see Flora wake up soon too!
ADA: (grins) Furthermore, she’ll be your sister soon… isn’t it?
JESSICA: Ada! Anyway, Roger. You do need some rest, you can’t possibly go on like this. Shuffling between KK and hospital, it’s bad for your health!
ROGER: I know, but I’m worried!
ADA: I agree with Jess, Roger! You just go home and take some rest, I’ll inform you immediately if Flora wakes up!
ROGER: But will you be here every minute?
ADA: (mumbling) I won’t, but someone will be…
ROGER: Huh? Who?
ADA: Erh… I mean… we take turns to visit her…
ROGER: Ok, I’ll come later. (looks at his watch) At ten, ok? Meanwhile, I’ll have to trouble you!
ADA: (smiles) What are friends for?
ROGER: Thanks! (giving her a hug before leaving) Bye!
JESSICA: (grinning) Look who’s blushing to the face!
ADA: What, Jess?
JESSICA: Now I understand!
ADA: Understand… understand what?
JESSICA: (grins) Understand why you were defending Gallen yesterday when he came to visit Flora!
ADA: (stammering) What? He is my friend, and he… he just want to take a look, so what’s wrong? We should be fair, Jess!
JESSICA: (shakes her head) I think it’s more than that!
ADA: Speak for yourself, can’t expect you’ll accept Joe, Jie!
JESSICA: (rolling her eyes) I don't know what you’re talking! The pot calling the kettle back!
ADA: Yeah yeah! We are sisters, that's why! It runs in the family!
JESSICA: So who will you support actually?
ADA: Arghh… Hard choice! I’ll help the one who is fated to be with Flora!
JESSICA: Extra!
ADA: Well, isn’t that so true? (looking at Flora) Awww… Flora dear, please wake up soon and choose yourself! For now, I think…
JESSICA: You think what?
ADA: I think I’ll sit on the fence!
JESSICA: Nah… you can’t do that. It’s going to be hurting!
ADA: Fine! I’ll try to help both!
JESSICA: (chuckling while shaking her head) I really take my hat off to you!

PS: Awww... I pray for Flora to wake up soon too, but she needs to sleep for a while more! ;)
