(Thursday – Kwok Mansion – Garden – Night)
Flora and Ada joined in the chat with Raymond and the rest, while Jessica and Roger stood at the poolside.
JESSICA: Why did Joe behave sneakily and drag you to a corner just now? He wants to take a loan from you again?
ROGER: (sipping his champagne) Uh huh, he mentioned that he has some financial difficulties at his gallery.
JESSICA: (rolls his eyes) Since when had he no financial difficulties? Look at all his absurd works, how many people can actually appreciate that? I told him he should have got a degree and be more practical instead!
ROGER: (smiles) To each his own, Jess!
JESSICA: I agree, but he could have pursue a higher level in arts if he really wants to depend on it for a living!
ROGER: Well, I think artists do have weird thinking, as it is commonly believed. You two just can’t get along! (grins)
JESSICA: But it doesn’t help if he keeps on borrowing from you!
ROGER: I don’t really mind, he’s Flora’s brother and we are one family!
JESSICA: I know you are rich, but you should take your dad’s teachings seriously. Anyway, how much is the accumulated amount?
ROGER: (shrugs) I’ve lost count!
JESSICA: I take my hat off to you! Hey, your tie is crooked! (adjusting the tie for him)
(at the other side)
ADA: (teasing) Hey, you better keep a close watch at your hubby before someone steals him away!
FLORA: Nah, I have utmost confidence in myself and him.
ADA: But I just have a feeling that Jess likes him… (thinking)
FLORA: You must be reading too much of that Gallen Yip’s works that you somehow acquire some of his weird and absurd imagination! Fancy saying that of your sister!
ADA: (rebuking) How do you know his ideas are absurd? Do you ever read them?
FLORA: (rolls her eyes) Of course not!
ADA: Then you are in no position to judge, Prof Chan!
FLORA: You are worst! You enjoy each and every of his works, regardless of whether it’s good or bad!
ADA: That’s because none of his works are bad! (sweeping her eyes across the pool) Hey, look! Don’t ever say I don’t warn you, this sister of mine certainly knows how to work her charms on the opposite sex.
Flora turned and looked into the direction where Ada was referring. Roger was holding Jessica by the waist, dancing? A tinge of jealousy suddenly grows inside her as she approaches them.
FLORA: (forcing a smile) Hi, Jess, why aren’t you chatting with your other friends?
ROGER: (releasing Jessica awkwardly) Eh… Flora, don’t misunderstand… Jess lost her balance and I was just giving her a hand.
JESSICA: (grins) Erm, excuse me… (walks away)
FLORA: (pouting) This accountant of yours is surely weird!
ROGER: (pinching her cheeks) Come on, my dear, don’t be jealous! There is nothing between us! (raises up his hand) I swear!
FLORA: (grins) Fine, I believe you! I wouldn’t want to spend too much time thinking of you!
ROGER: (smiling) Are you sure? (tickling her) Sure?
Jessica turned and cast a glance at them, she grimaces a grin, then turned around, only to knock into someone. The champagne spilled on her gown.
JESSICA: (turning around) Hey, look where you’re… It’s you? (rolls her eyes)
MYOLIE: (apologetically) Eh… I’m sorry, let me clean it for you. (taking out her handkerchief)
JESSICA: (taking her handkerchief) I can do it myself…
MYOLIE: I’m sorry, Jie…
ADA: (walking up to them) What happened?
JESSICA: (forces a smile) Nothing, I’ll go to the washroom. Excuse me. (walks away)
MYOLIE: It’s my fault for being so careless and dirtying her gown…
ADA: Nothing serious, silly girl! Jess won’t take it to heart.
MYOLIE: But I know she dislikes me…
ADA: It’s just a matter of time. Anyway, what do you want to tell me?
MYOLIE: Eh… I need a model for my upcoming presentation, so can you… (pleading look)
ADA: Oh… using me as a guinea pig again? (pouts)
MYOLIE: Eh… Please, Jie, I have no others to turn to… (puppy look)
ADA: Just teasing you, silly! I have utmost trust in your designs!
MYOLIE: Yeah, and wearing them will only enhance your beauty!
ADA: (laughs) Ok, no bootlicking, I will keep my promise to you! (patting her head)

(The next day – Friday – campus)
JULIAN: (calling) Flora! (walking up to her)
FLORA: (turned around, surprised) Julian? When did you come back? You never told me!
JULIAN: Just arrived yesterday. (smiles) I wanted to look for you in your office, but never expect to run into you here. Ah… just as pretty as before!
FLORA: (rolls her eyes) And you’re just as plausible as before!
JULIAN: (winks) Yeah! Let me introduce someone to you… (waving) Here, dear!
ANNIE: (walking towards them) Hey, told you to wait for me, and you are teasing girls over here? (pouts)
JULIAN: (laughs) I wouldn’t dare to. This is Prof Flora Chan, my best friend in college! (to Flora) And Flora, this is my fiancée, Annie.
FLORA: (smiles while shaking her hand) Hi, nice to meet you. (to Julian) You certainly have good taste!
ANNIE: Whoa, you’re a professor? But you’re still so young!
JULIAN: Yup, she’s a high flyer you see!
ANNIE: Oh… that’s cool!
JULIAN: Anyway, Flora. I am here to give you the invitation to our wedding party, held next Sunday!
FLORA: Oh… congratulations!
JULIAN/ANNIE: (smiles) Thank you!
FLORA: (smiles) I’ll be there early!
JULIAN: Hey I heard you’ve got good news soon also!
FLORA: (smiles) Yup, around 7 weeks later!
JULIAN: Congrats to you too!
ANNIE: (spotted someone) Excuse me… (running to Raymond) Hey Ray!
RAYMOND: Annie? Long time no see!
ANNIE: Certainly, how’s Gallen Gor recently?
RAYMOND: Arghhh… he’s the only one you would ever care about!
ANNIE: Of course not, but I miss him a lot!
RAYMOND: Then you should ask your Dai Gor and Dai So for his news, they are closer! But I never heard you were coming back from the states, why so sudden?
ANNIE: Not sudden actually, me and my fiancé, (pointing at Julian) we decided to come back to HK for our wedding!
RAYMOND: Whoa, never expect someone would ever wants you!
ANNIE: Hey you! Nah… I don’t care, I want you to be the bestman!
RAYMOND: How come you two don’t have ready bestman and bridesmaid? Asking for me to fill the gap? Nah…
ANNIE: Hey, are you still my friend?
RAYMOND: Strictly speaking, no! You’re more familiar with my Dai Gor, so perhaps he should take the honor instead!
