“Erm…”
“We need two rooms” Chae Yeon interrupted
“Oh I apologize, I assumed you were a couple, you two look compatible” The staff was embarrassed by her self imagination
“You don’t have to be sorry, we are very compatible” Seung Gi smiled shyly and said it after Chae Yeon left to look for a pay phone.
“Mr Lee your room is 1970, and Ms Lee’s room is 1971” The staff at the hotel front desk gave the keys to Seung gi.
“Can we borrow a phone charger?” Seung gi asked the staff. Both their phones batteries were dead by the time they reached Tokyo.
“We will send one up to your room Mr Lee. Just to inform you, we are experiencing some slight tremors since this afternoon. There is a warning for more after shocks”
Seung gi and Chae Yeon went up to their respective rooms. After 2 minutes, Chae Yeon came banging on Seung gi’s door.
“Seung gi!”
“What’s the matter? Are you alright?” What greeted Seung gi was a Chae Yeon that was very excited.
“Yuki is in Miyazaki. She’s with Hee Chul, they are both there!”
“Great. Lets go back shall we?” Seung gi knew how much Chae Yeon wanted to be with Yuki. He was willing to make anything happen just so Chae Yeon could be reunited with Yuki.
“Its almost 10, I hope there will still be a flight back” Chae Yeon said as Seung gi called to porter to hold their luggage and call for a taxi.
They entered the hotel elevator, and Seung gi saw a smile on Chae Yeon’s face. It was the first time in 5 years since he saw that smile.
“Everything is fine now” He said as he moved closer to her.
Suddenly, BANG
The elevator suddenly stopped and it was all dark. They were trapped in the elevator with no signal whatsoever.
After half a minute of dead silent, Chae Yeon got scared.
“Seung gi, where are you?” She tried to feel around her, looking for Seung gi
“I’m here darling” he grabbed her and pulled her into his arms
They sat on the ground of the elevator, glued together like they used to be.
“How long do you think they’ll take to rescue us?” Chae Yeon cuddled safely in Seung gi’s arms
“Maybe soon, I think this is because of the earth quake”
“There was an earth quake the first time I moved to Tokyo with Yuki” Chae Yeon recalled
“When was that?” There are so many things he wanted to know. Little details about their life, the things they do, everything.
“In 2008, after Yuki was one year old”
“Don’t worry about Yuki, I’m sure Hee Chul is taking good care of her” With Chae Yeon beside him, Seung gi felt that his life is complete. He had nothing to ask for anymore.
“I miss my baby” Chae Yeon turned around and hid her face in Seung gi’s chest. She didn’t want to start crying again.
“Thank you” Seung gi said, and gave Chae Yeon a kiss on her head
“What are you thanking me for?” She lifted her head up, trying to see if she could make out his face.
"Thank you for bringing Yuki into this world, thank you for bringing her up” Seung gi pulled her back into his arms
“Yuki must be having fun with Hee Chul” Chae Yeon tried to make herself and Seung gi feel better.
“Does she usually spend a lot of time with Hee Chul?” Seung gi stroked her hair and continued to give her little kisses.
“Not a lot, but she likes him a lot, they keep a lot of secrets together, Hee Chul is just like a child”
“Was Yuki a natural birth?” Seung gi was enjoying this time trapped in the elevator. It was a chance for him, to talk to Chae Yeon without her running away. He got her trapped in his arms tightly. She didn’t have anywhere to go.
“She’s a premature baby; they had to deliver her because her heart was getting weak”
“I’m sorry” Seung gi kissed Chae Yeon again. He wished that time could turn back to 5 years ago, where he could be with her, and go through all these with her.
“I’m sorry for lying, I didn’t want to be a burden to you” Chae Yeon said. She felt dizzy. It was either the air around or the comfort she felt in his arms, she felt very tired and just wanted to go to sleep. She didn’t even have the energy to push herself out of Seung Gi’s arms.
“I won’t ever leave you again, never” Seung gi picked Chae Yeon up and carried her like a baby. He hugged her closer to him, as though he never want her out of his arms ever again.
