“Mummy, were you with daddy that night?” Yuki picked up a punnet of strawberries and place it in Chae Yeon’s basket.
They were shopping at the grocery store on a weekday afternoon. Yuki was having her holidays.
“We went to Tokyo to look for you” She picked up a packet of cream
“Did you talk to him?”
“When are you going to confess to me about your secret with Uncle?” Chae Yeon threatened to question Yuki back on the incident that day.
Hee Chul said it was all a misunderstanding, and that if she trusted him as a friend she won’t pursue it further. She didn’t intend to find out the truth, she trusted Hee Chul. But she wanted to tease Yuki. She knew Yuki is very afraid when she asks about the secrets Yuki kept with Hee Chul.
“I thought Mummy agreed not to ask about that day”
“Then why is Yuki asking mummy about that night?”
“Because I want to know what happen to daddy” Yuki said softly
“Do you not want mummy anymore? Do you just think about Daddy now?” Chae Yeon whined to her 5 year old daughter
“No. I will always want mummy” Yuki happily hid behind Chae Yeon’s skirt and followed her mother around the store. Yuki loves to see her mother whine. Because she knows that her mother needs to be in a good mood before playing with her like that.
They drove into the porch of their house and saw a male figure standing outside.
“Is that Uncle Takashi again?” Yuki asked Chae Yeon
“I don’t think so” Chae Yeon pulled up. She knows Takashi is history now.
Yuki hop off the car to see who that man was.
“Hello little one” Seung gi picked Yuki up and carried her. He turned around and walked towards Chae Yeon
“Mummy is going to bake me a cake, Uncle can join us” Yuki didn’t wait for her mother to respond and invited Seung gi.
Chae Yeon looked at them and unlocked the door. She didn’t know what to say. She knows that Yuki likes Seung Gi. After all, he is Yuki’s father, the father she always wanted to meet.
“Yuki, will you be a good girl and go keep these in the cooler?” Chae Yeon passed the grocery bag to Yuki.

“Thank you” Chae Yeon looked at Seung gi and said
“What are you thanking me for my love?” Seung gi smiled at her
“Thank you for being there last week. But our life is back to normal now; you don’t have to worry about us”
“Are you trying to run away from me again?”
“I’m just saying that we are well and good here, there’s no need for you to take any responsibility. Yuki, she’s starting elementary school next year. You can visit her if you want. Just let me know, I will arrange”
“What if I want to visit you? Will you arrange that as well?”
“…”
“This is not about taking responsibility. You don’t know how happy I am to have found you. And to know that Yuki exists, that tells me that you still love me. I will start from scratch; I will chase you just like I did, all over again. No one can take you away from me now. I want to marry you; I’m still waiting for your answer from 5 years ago.”

That evening, a florist delivered 1950 stalks of red roses to Chae Yeon’s house. It filled the entire living room and porch.
“Mummy, we have no room to walk around” Yuki stood on the flight of stairs with her mother, looking down on the immense number of flowers
“We could make pot-pori with them” Chae Yeon commented, wondering which senseless person would do such a thing to them
She squeezed through the mess and grabbed a nicely wrapped box. The box had a card along with it.
