“Baby, too much sun is bad for your skin, especially the afternoon sun, come in” Chae Yeon stood in the living room shouting out to Yuki
“I want to stay here” Yuki didn’t move. She continued to sit on the swing but not playing with it.
Chae Yeon sensed that something was wrong with Yuki.
“Darling what’s wrong. Why are you out here the whole afternoon? Are you angry with mummy?” Chae Yeon wrapped her arms around Yuki.
“No, I’m not angry with mummy. I’m just waiting for daddy to come home” Yuki hugged on to Chae Yeon and forced her mother to carry her up.
“Well daddy is busy, he will come when he finishes his work, Yuki is a good girl, mummy will teach you how to make nice Korean dishes alright?” Chae Yeon was preparing Seung gi’s favourite dishes. She was secretly hoping Seung gi will turn up that evening, or if not, she could keep the dishes till he comes on Saturday.
Yuki didn’t have much appetite, neither did her mother. They sat on the dining table, each girl secretly waiting for Seung gi to come. After 9, Chae Yeon decided that Yuki needs to go to bed. She did her nightly routine of reading Yuki a story and tucked her into bed.
As Chae Yeon was trying to sleep, her mind and her heart debated each other.
“Call him, tell him to come for Yuki’s award ceremony tomorrow”
“No, he is busy, don’t disturb him”
“It’s his daughter, Yuki wants him to be there”
“You and Yuki are a burden to him, that’s all you are”
“Just call and let him know. He can come if he wants”
After tossing and turning for an hour, she decided to call him after all.
“Hello? Seung gi please” Chae Yeon called his cell phone
“Seung gi is away now, what can I do for you? I’m his manager” Park answered. Due to hospital regulations, Seung gi left his cell phone outside with Park.
“Well can you leave him a message for me?” Chae Yeon asked
“Go ahead and speak” Park didn’t like girls calling Seung gi
“Can you tell him that there’s a school function tomorrow and it would be best if he could make it” Chae Yeon tried her best to not reveal too much
“School event?” Park questioned
“Yes, thank you very much” Chae Yeon hung up.
“You are…” Park didn’t know who the caller was. It has been 5 years since he heard Chae Yeon’s voice.

“How is your mother?” Park asked Seung gi.
They were at the Seoul National Hospital. Mrs Lee suddenly had a mild stroke and got warded in the hospital this afternoon, just as Seung gi was about to leave for the airport.
“The doctor said he will only operate on her tomorrow if necessary” Seung gi said, feeling very worried.

(Earlier that morning)
“Mrs Lee, Seung gi is leaving for Miyazaki later this morning” Park updated Seung gi’s mother
“That will not work. He needs more time away from that witch. Jinny will be back on Sunday. I need him to be here till then”
“Mrs Lee, there’s nothing much I can do about it”
“Tell him his mother is in the hospital.”

(Present)
“Put the call through again, why is the number still engaged?” Seung gi instructed Park to dial Chae Yeon’s number. Little did he know, Park never really dialled it.
“It’s still engaged. I will keep trying, you should go and accompany Mrs Lee” Park lied to Seung gi.
Seung gi spent the night at the hospital; the doctor told him that his mother is in a dangerous condition. Of course Mrs Lee was just cursing herself. She was in fact as fit and sly as a wolf.
