It was Friday again, and Wang Zi was still not talking to me. The girls kept saying sorry and I kept telling them it wasn’t their fault. I kept on saying sorry and he kept on saying “It’s okay.” And then he ignores me again. He joined us everyday but he was very quiet. He just sat beside me but he doesn’t talk to me.
The classes ended at 3:00, as always, and the girls asked me to come with them. I wasn’t in the mood to go out so I refused. I’ve been coming home early since Monday. Wang Zi had been ignoring me for 5 days and I couldn’t take it. And because of that, I realized, I really loved him.
I arrived home, 15 minutes later and went upstairs. I lay down and hugged my favorite Stitch pillow. I cried, for the nth time, and stared at the ceiling. A few minutes later, someone knocked.
“Who is it?” I asked. “If you’re mom, I’m trying to sleep here. If you’re not Wang Zi, go away!”
No one answered so I decided to open the door. Maybe Wang Zi decided to forgive me already. But when I opened the door, I was surprised to see the face in front of me.
“Why are you here?” I asked.
“To talk to you,” the person replied.
“But I don’t want to talk. Please leave.” I tried to close the door but he stopped me.
“It’s about Wang Zi.” He explained.
“What about him, Aaron? He’s not talking to me. Are you happy now?” I asked, rudely.
“I’m sorry I did that. I really didn’t mean to.” Aaron said. “I’m here because I want to ask permission if I could talk to him.”
“Why?” I asked. “No, you can’t. You’ve done enough trouble.”
“Please, just listen to me.” He went inside my room. “I just want to help you fix the problem that I made.”
“I can handle it, Aaron. Just leave.”
Aaron held my hand and said, “Please, Gui Gui.”
Just as I was supposed to shake his hands off mine, I heard someone drop something and I glanced at the door, Wang Zi was there.
“Aaron, please leave.” I ordered him.
“No, it’s okay. I will leave.” Wang Zi muttered, and left the room.
Aaron and I both ran. Aaron ran faster and was able to stop Wang Zi. The three of us were in front of the house when Aaron held Wang Zi’s shoulder. I was hoping Wang Zi would stop and talk but instead, he turned back and punched Aaron’s face.
“Are you happy now?” He asked, giving him another punch. “You got your girl back!”
Aaron didn’t return the punch. “No! I came because I wanted to help Gui Gui. I wanted you and Gui Gui to be okay.”
Wang Zi hit him again. “Don’t fool me!” He hit him again. “Just leave me alone.”
I didn’t know what to do so I stood in the middle of the 2 guys. I tried stopping Wang Zi from hitting Aaron. “Please, Wang Zi. What he said was true.”
“You know what you real problem is? You don’t listen to your girlfriend!” And for the first time, Aaron hit him back. “Don’t worry, I’ll leave you two alone.” And then, Aaron went for his car and drove off.
“Wang Zi,” I held his face. “I’m really sorry. Are you okay?”
“Yes,” And Wang Zi left too.
I went back to my room, crying again. I saw a cake on the floor, it was crushed. Maybe Wang Zi wanted to reconcile! Maybe he had forgiven me already! I lost the chance! That Aaron ruined everything! I picked up the pieces of cake scattered in front of my door. Aaron shouldn’t have come.
