“Eh, earth to Gui Gui?” Xiao Xun waved her hands in front of my face, trying to get my attention but I wasn’t in the mood to talk so I ignored her.
Months had passed after Wang Zi left, I was alone again. Though my friends were still with me, I still wanted him back. I wanted my best friend to be with me. Graduation was coming and I wanted him to graduate with us but I knew it wouldn’t happen since he was in England. Pft.
Months had passed since Aaron and I talked, or fought. Though my friends were still with me, I still wanted to see him, and tell him how much I loved him. I wanted him back. Graduation was coming and I wanted him to see me go up the stage and get my diploma. It’s not that I wanted him to be my father; I just wanted to see him. And kiss him.
Months had passed and yes, I was back to the normal Gui Gui. Normal Gui Gui as in the one who loved to space out and the one who loved moping around because 2 people she loved left her.
“EH!” This time, Xiao Man hit my back. It was so painful that I suddenly jerked.
“What?” I asked, slightly irritated. I tried my best not to be annoyed with them because I knew that they were just trying to cheer me up. “I’m okay, guys. Don’t worry about me!”
“No you’re not okay!” Ya Tou squeaked. “You started the school year like that… Are you going to end it like that too? Summer vacation’s coming! You’ve got to get yourself together.”
“What? Are you going to lock me with some guy in a hotel room again?” I asked them with my voice full of sarcasm.
Xiao Man hit her head and said, “How did you know?”
All of us laughed. They were right. Even if Wang Zi and Aaron weren’t with me anymore, I should still enjoy life. After all, high school was about to end!
“You guys know what?” I stood up and inhaled. “I’ve got an idea!”
The three of them looked so excited. I didn’t really have any idea; I just wanted to say it. I thought for a moment and smiled. “Why don’t we go shopping?” The idea was pretty simple and really uncreative but girls love to shop, right?
Ya Tou smiled and jumped in excitement. “Yay! Gui’s ready to have fun again!”
“Of course I am!” I beamed and pulled them out of the school.
“Wait, wait!” Xiao Man protested. “Aren’t we……” Xiao Man faced Ya Tou and then faced me. “Ahhhh… Never mind!” She shook her head and proceeded walking.

Xiao Xun laughed as she walked in the mall. We were having a lot of fun and I surely missed hanging out with them. “I missed you girls!” I hugged them tightly.
They all returned my hug and said that they missed having the bubbly Gui Gui too. Just then, I realized that I shouldn’t be thinking about Aaron too much. I knew he had moved on already, and I should too. It might be hard but it’s okay.
“HEY!” Ya Tou shouted. “Are you spacing out again?”
“No, I’m not!” I argued. I was ready to say something again but suddenly, my phone vibrated. I looked at the screen and saw the name ‘Aaron.’ I gasped and answered it. “Hello?”
I waited for someone to respond. “Hello, Gui?” It was Ah Wei.
Apparently, Ah Wei just borrowed Aaron’s phone because he lost his phone and Ah ben left his at his home. He just wanted to ask Ya Tou where she was. I told him that we were together at the mall. When he knew about it, he got so excited and said that they were going to the mall too… with Aaron.
When he hung up, I panicked. “Aaron!”
The three gave me a puzzled look and I told them, “Aaron’s coming with Ah Wei!”
“Oh my god,” Ya Tou tried to act surprise. “We already know that!”
“WHAT?” I asked, fuming. “Did you plan all these again? Oh my Ya Tou! How could you do this to me? I haven’t seen in months and now… now, I LOOK NASTY!”
And right there, they cracked up. “I thought you were going nuts because you didn’t want to see Aaron!” Xiao Man said in an odd manner. “Don’t worry, Gui.” She got something out of her bag and it looked like a make-up kit. I stared at her and she winked. She laughed at my expression and pulled me towards the nearest comfort room.

As my best friends tried to put some make-up on my horrid face, I suddenly got curious. “Hey, wait. How did you know that Aaron’s coming?”
Xiao Xun chuckled a little. “Actually, we planned on meeting them today! We were going to talk about YOU!” She smiled and continued rubbing something on my face.
“YOU’RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT ME BEHIND MY BACK?” I asked and stopped all their hands from playing with my face.
“We didn’t want to,” Ya Tou shrugged. “But Aaron does!”
I gave her a quizzical look.
“He called us and said that he wanted us to help him.” Xiao Man muttered openly.
“Help?” I asked, still confused.
“Yeah, he wants to talk to you already but he’s afraid. I don’t know why he’s afraid though, he always seemed to be the most courageous amongst the three of them.” Xiao Xun stated and sat down.
I thought about it and pictured the three guys—Aaron, Ah Wei, and Ah Ben. Among the three of them, the only person I didn’t know that much was Ah Ben because we never really had the chance to speak with each other. Aaron, the most courageous one? Psh.
“If he was courageous, he would have talked to me since the day I called it off!” I suddenly exclaimed. Every time I say ‘call it off,’ the girls already knew what I meant and they just crack up for some reason I don’t know. “What? Why are you laughing at me?”
“Well, you see… You are also the most courageous one between the four of us! Why didn’t you talk to him first when you realized that he’s the one you love more?” Xiao Xun articulated while laughing.
I wanted to say something but my mind was all blank. “Errrr….”
And that only kept them laughing.
I frowned at them, and noticed that my phone was vibrating again. I picked it up and held my breath, hoping it was Aaron this time.
“Hello?” I asked.
“Hey, we’re at the mall already. Where are you?” And to my disappointment, it was still Ah Wei.
“Oh,” was the only thing I managed to say at first. “We’re at the comfort room. We’ll meet you near the entrance.” Then, I hung up.
“Let’s go! Ah Wei’s here,” I turned around and stared at the mirror. Someone in front of me was wearing way too much make-up and I figured it was me. “AHHH! What did you do to me?”
“Why? You look beautiful, Gui!” Xiao Xun encouraged.
“I’m wearing too much make-up and yet I’m beautiful? I look horrible! Take it off, take it off!” I revolted.
Xiao Man laughed, “concealer, lip gloss, and eyeliner is too much make-up?”
I sighed in disgust and proceeded walking. I knew there was no way that those girls would take it off.

I looked around the mall, trying to see Aaron. I almost injured my neck but I still didn’t find him. After a few minutes of looking around, I finally gave up. I just let my feet lead me to our destination and as we walk nearer and nearer, I saw two familiar faces—Ah Wei’s and Ah Ben’s. But Aaron’s face, I couldn’t find.
“Hi,” Ah Ben greeted me and I tried to smile. Where’s Aaron?
“Hello, Gui! Long time no see, yeah?” Ah Wei greeted and went to Ya Tou.
“Where’s Aaron?” Xiao Xun asked. Thank god, Xiao Xun asked.
“He didn’t come. He just let me use his phone.” He looked down. “I forced him but still refused.”
“Why?” I asked in displeasure.
“Apparently, he’s too much of a coward to see you.” Ah Ben answered and gave me an apologetic look.
