Rose (Kenix Kwok) shakes her fist in anger. "I can't believe it! Where did my plan go wrong? After that fat lady gave me her cheap gift, I opened it to see what was inside. To make Chris hate her even more, I sprayed those cookies with a pepper, salt, and vinegar mixture spray..." Her eyes bulge. "So that's it! I made the taste even worse and intensified its reception in Chris's memory." She screams and throws a pillow on the floor. "I should have known... they told me that the fat lady was a horrible cook. Why did I go and make her cookies even worse? Now Chris is going back with them to Hong Kong. If this continues..."
"Rose, where is Chris?" Mr. Suen (Michael Miu Kiu Wai) demands.
"He left with his family for Hong Kong."
"You let him out of your sight?"
"I'm sorry, daddy."
"What are you doing just sitting here? Go to Hong Kong with him!"
"I need to get some things ready first. I told him that I would meet him in Hong Kong later."
"You mustn't let him remember what happened that day. If he does, then you and me, we're..."
"I know, daddy. But don't worry! I was researching amnesia online a few weeks ago and it said that patients rarely remember what caused the accident. So I don't think we need to worry!" Rose smiles. "Besides, he and his family all love me, so there should be no problem. I'll go to Hong Kong and win over the hearts of his other crazy family members and then get their consent to take him back to Shanghai as soon as possible. This way, they can still keep in contact, but he won't be as likely to remember any more than he needs to."
"Good."
"Leave it to me," Rose smiles weakly. Her eyes move back and forth. She hadn't felt this vulnerable or weak in years. After what happened years ago, she vowed to never let anything or anyone abuse or manipulate her again. She made it a duty to herself to be in control at all times.
[Airplane]
"Ah Nin, I'm so happy to finally have you back!" Nim Chi (Nancy Sit) grins.
"Ma Chi, you've said that a million times! Even if you're not bored, we are!" Ah Nin (Frankie Lam) jokes.
"That's right, don't bore us. We're already tired of watching the repetitive 'Gai Dai Foon Siu' at home," Fiona (Sherming Yiu) says.
"Why does our family like watching that series so much anyways?" Ah Sing (Hawick Lau) asks.
Nim Chi shrugs, "Maybe it's because it's funny and relieves their stress."
"I personally think that TVB should stop it already and produce a long-running palace drama like 'Jewel In The Palace,'" says Fiona.
"Do you think TVB is capable of that?"
"Well, look at 'War and Beauty.'"
"That was one gem in thousands of rubble."
Joey (Bernice Liu) stares at Ah Nin. She looks out of the window into the deep clouds amidst the blue sky. "God, when will it be the time for Chris to remember me? Why did you let him remember but only his mother?" she ponders. "Chris regained his memories because of the terrible taste of Auntie Chi's cookies. Maybe if I put him into pain so that he can remember the pain that I caused him in the past, perhaps he'll remember me too..." Joey starts to daydream.
[Joey's Daydream]
"Chris! All you care about is money and work! I hate you!" Joey slaps him.
"You! I..." Ah Nin wobbles on the ground. He regains balance and gazes deeply into Joey's eyes. "Joey..."
She turns around with her arms folded, "What?"
"I remember it all again! I love you! How could I be so stupid and be with Rose?"
Ah Nin kisses her.
"Oh, Chris, I'm so happy that you remember me again! You don't know how much pain I've been in."
Ah Nin scoffs, "Pain? Your pain doesn't compare to mine! Do you know how hurt I was during that time with Sam (Ellesmere Choi)?" He pulls out a gun from his pocket. He points it at Joey's heart. "If you really want to know the pain that I felt, then here you go." He pulls back the trigger and...
[End of Daydream]
Joey shudders a cold sweat. "Some things are better left to fate," she concludes.
