The "Ka Yan" employees scurry at sound of high-heels approaching the company.
"Stop!" Gam (Louis Yuen) calls, "Why are we running? Michelle and Miss Man are both in their offices already!"
"That's right... then who could it be?"
Rose (Kenix Kwok) steps into "Ka Yan" company with a big smile, "Hello."
"Rose, what are you doing here?" Ah Yuet (Michael Tse) asks.
"I was bored."
"Big brother is out with Joey seeing a client."
"Is he? He's such a hard worker."
"Mr. Wong didn't hire him to sit around... unlike someone else," Ah Lo (Bondy Chiu) rolls her eyes and subtly points to Gwai Yan (Celine Ma).
"Too bad auntie isn't dating Mr. Wong anymore otherwise we can be like Gwai Yan too."
"Sister OK," Rose calls, "Please tell Mr. Wong that I'm here to see him."
"You're here to see our boss? Why?"
Rose smiles, "It's a surprise... you'll see later."
[Wong Sheung's Office]
"Uncle Roger," Rose greets.
"You are?" Wong Sheung (Lau Dan) inquires.
"I'm Rose, the daughter of your old buddy, Peter Suen."
"From 'F&B' company in Shanghai?"
Rose nods.
Wong Sheung feels disgusted after becoming aware of who the girl standing before him was. This was the girl who stole Ah Nin from his daughter. This was Chris's fiancé and Joey's love rival. He tries his best to retain his anger. "What are you doing in my humble company?"
"I want to work for 'Ka Yan.'"
Wong Sheung laughs, "Work for me? Don't play me, Rose!"
"What... what do you mean?"
"I wouldn't dare to hire the daughter of the prominent Suen family from Shanghai at my humble company."
"Uncle, don't say that!"
"Now, Rose, just go home and enjoy being the big daughter-in-law of the Kams," he urges her out of his office.
"But... uncle!"
[Wong Family House, Dining Table]
"Daddy, I heard Rose came to the company today," Joey says.
"From who?"
Joey laughs, "Daddy, you know that the 'Ka Yan' employees are all gossipers!"
"Yes, she did come."
"What did she say or want?"
Wong Sheung scoffs, "Said she wanted to work for the company."
"You denied her the job?"
"Of course. I wouldn't hire someone who hurt my daughter."
"But she didn't do anything to me. She's totally innocent."
"Still, she is Chris's fiancé. I don't want you hurting any more than you already do."
"Ella left the company today. What is Athena to do without her own designer?"
"She can share Ah Sing with Michelle."
"That defeats the purpose of Michelle having Ah Sing."
"Don't tell me you want me to hire Rose."
"Daddy, I've seen her designs. She is quite good. I'm sure she'll bring our company good business."
"But, Joey!"
"Trust me, daddy."
"I don't understand you. Why do you have to bring someone who stole your lover into your own company?"
Joey shakes her head, "It's not like that, daddy. Rose doesn't know about Chris and I."
"Do you think she would give him up if you ask her nicely?"
"I want us to have a fair battle."
"Fair battle? Chris doesn't remember his past with you at all!"
"Time may change that."
"May, Joey, may! What if it doesn't? Then you would have suffered through seeing Rose with him all those times for nothing."
"Just hire her, daddy."
"You will regret this."
"What do I have to lose? How much more regrets can I have?" There were a lot of things that Joey regretted. She was regretful for being too quick to judge Ah Nin in the past, having too many misconceptions and doubts about his character, for having believed Sam, and for having lost her memories. If her decision that day, in fact, did turn into another regret, it was just another thing to add to her already-long list.
[Kam Family Apartment]
"'Ka Yan' suffered a great lost today!"
Nim Chi (Nancy Sit) bites into a chicken leg, "What happened? I thought the business is improving."
"Ma Chi, do you think uncle will care about the company's business?" Ah Yuet shakes his head.
"That's right, in Gam Gam's words, 'only a stupid person would care about his company's business'," Ying Gei (Yvonne Lam) adds.
"Aiya!" Nim Chi scolds, "If 'Ka Yan' isn't doing well, do you think you can all live at ease?"
"He means," Ah Sing (Hawick Lau) explains, "That 'Ka Yan' lost its beauty today."
"Michelle resigned? Joey left?"
"Not them! Ella!"
"Ella? You mean that fashion designer?"
Gam nods, "Now we've run out of beauties of look at!"
Ying Gei grabs his ear, "What was that?"
"If Ah Lo looks at beautiful people, her babies will come out to look beautiful as well, isn't that right? I'm only thinking for our family!"
"Oh, you're so thoughtful, Gam Gam!"
Ah Lo rolls her eyes, "Too bad seeing you will ruin any beauty that I see."
Rose bursts out laughing.
Nim Chi asks, "What's the matter, Rose?"
"Nothing, it's just that you guys are so funny!"
"Oh yeah, what were you doing in 'Ka Yan' company today, Rose?" Ah Nin (Frankie Lam) asks.
"I wanted to find a job."
"Rose, why would you want to do that? You're our guest! You don't have to worry about money," Nim Chi insists.
"Because Chris says he wants to stay in Hong Kong, I figured that I would as well. Besides, I'm so bored having nothing to do! I want to join 'Ka Yan' company so that I can work with him and see everyone else. Auntie Chi, I'm the type of person that has to be kept busy."
"You're in luck because there's a fashion designer opening."
"Mr. Wong didn't take me seriously, so he kicked me out of his office. Please plead Mr. Wong for me, Chris!"
"I can't. He doesn't like me as it is."
Rose sighed. Her plan had failed. However, she wasn't going to sit around and do nothing. Rose's mind was quick at work thinking of another plot. "Why are things so much harder now that I'm in Hong Kong? When I was in Shanghai my plans never failed..." she thinks in her head.
"Rose!" Ah Lo calls.
Rose realizes that she had been too deep in thought. "Yes, what is it?"
"This call's for you."
"Oh, thank you. Who is it?"
"Joey."
Rose laughs nervously, "I wonder what she could want at this hour!"
"It's not even 9:00 PM yet. Joey definitely wouldn't sleep before watching 'Gai Dai Foon Siu'!" Gam comments.
"Hello? Joey? I'm hired to be 'Ka Yan''s new designer? Are you serious? Thank you so much! Okay, I'll see you tomorrow." Rose hangs up the phone with a smile. Sometimes, even the cleverest plans do not compare in effectiveness and ease as the ignorance of others.
