Ah Lam (Linda Chung) had saved the day that day. She explains that while everyone else was busy following Wong Sheung's (Lau Dan) order to redecorate "Ka Yan" company, Ah Lam had contacted Mr. Myers (Wong He) herself and prepared a proposal.
"Michelle, you're so smart."
Ah Lam blushes, "Business is about business! We can't expect to win deals by bribing clients. Life doesn't work that way."
Man Gwai Fei (Stephanie Che) makes a face aside and turns around to say, "If I had time, I could prepare a proposal too. It's only because I was busy following the boss's order and decorating the company! Mr. Wong, Michelle should receive a warning letter for not following orders."
Wong Sheung dismisses Gwai Fei, "Michelle has done well. Had it not been for her, this multi-million dollar contract would have gone down the drain!"
"Mr. Wong, next time you shouldn't do these things. Just be confident in our company's talents," Ah Lam urges.
Ah Nin (Frankie Lam) praises Ah Lam, "Good looking."
"It's not all my credit. Joey made some good designs and you made sure they got completed on time as models."
Joey (Bernice Liu) smiles, "We should all learn more from Michelle."
Everyone cheers and applauds, "Hung Bak Lam... our savior!"
"What about all of the money and time we placed into the decorations?" Ah Lo (Bondy Chiu) asks.
"Take it as a lesson learned," Wong Sheung answers. "Next time 'Ka Yan' won't be so foolish. Besides, our company looks beautiful now!"
"And we can use all of the decorations again for years to come, isn't that right?" Gam (Louis Yuen) adds.
Ah Sing (Hawick Lau) stares at Ah Lam. That day, he saw her in a new light.
[Ah Lam's Office]
Ah Lam had a smile on her face as she replied to a client's e-mail. Ah Sing walks into her office and extends his hand.
"What is it?"
"I want to congratulate you," Ah Sing says.
"You already did outside."
"I want to do it personally."
"Why?"
Ah Sing shrugs.
"If you don't know, then you shouldn't congratulate me."
"I don't get it. When I walked in, you had a big smile on your face. After you saw me, that smile disappeared. Why?"
"Lau Ka Sing," Ah Lam begins, "I thought I made it clear many times. We're not friends. Don't worry about me."
"Why? We knew each other for so long."
"Please, just get out. Seeing you brings back memories I don't want to recall."
"Ah Lam, please" Ah Sing calls sincerely.
Ah Lam's heart paces. Although it had been years since she had heard it last, the effect of Ah Sing's voice calling her name was still the same.
"To be honest," Ah Sing looks around the office, "Today, I saw the Ah Lam of the past."
"What are you talking about?"
"You weren't cold-hearted or money-hungry."
"Not money-hungry? Business is all about money."
"Whatever. Thank you, anyways."
"For?"
"For saving the company and bringing in a big business," Ah Sing says as he walks out. He wonders if he'll ever understand Ah Lam.
[Sze Family Mansion]
Ah Lam collapses onto the bed in her master bedroom. "I'm so tired!" she wails.
Ah San (Steven Ma) enters the bedroom and is concerned, "Michelle, what happened?"
"The past two days have been torture!"
"Tell me about it."
"Mr. Wong thought that he could get a deal by bribing a client. Of course, that would never work because business is not about that. I had to contact the client myself and personally work on a detailed proposal for the past two days!" Ah Lam yawns.
"You're still so greedy for money even though your husband is a millionaire!" Ah San jokes.
Ah Lam laughs, "I am stupid, aren't I?"
Ah San shakes his head, "That's why I like you. You work hard for yourself. You believe that everyone should be his or her best. You don't believe in favoritism or corruption. You could be lazy and never go to work again and just enjoy being Mrs. Sze, but you choose not to."
Ah Lam beams, "I hate it when people play unfairly to get a deal. It's strange, though. The business is declining these days. A few months ago, it was also quite bad, but it suddenly surged back to prosperity. Now it's down again... I wonder why."
Ah San laughs nervously and says, "Speaking of 'Ka Yan' company, you make me miss it!"
"Miss it? You were making only $4000 a month! Now you're the big boss and making millions."
"I miss not being around you all the time."
"We spend our nights together, don't we?"
"Michelle, I don't think we spend enough time together."
"Ivan, we both have to work during the day. Even if we worked at the same place, there would be no time to socialize."
"At least," Ah San touches Ah Lam's face softly, "I could admire your beauty from afar."
Ah Lam caresses Ah San, "I feel the same."
Ah San playfully jokes, "No, you don't! When I was in 'Ka Yan,' you were always cooped up in your office."
"I looked at you when you didn't notice," Ah Lam reveals.
"Did you?"
Ah Lam nods.
"We can spend every moment together when we're older. We still have a lot of time."
"And I no longer have a hereditary heart disease!" Ah Lam sticks out her tongue and giggles.
