Before the sun's rays had a chance to reach the corners of the Kams' apartment, their quaint home already had a visitor. Nim Chi (Nancy Sit) was frying noodles when she heard the doorbell ring. She yells, "Ah Nin! Can you get the door for me?"
Ah Nin (Frankie Lam) yawns as he walks out of his bedroom. He wasn't dressed yet because he was waiting for his turn to use the bathroom. He was clad only in a white T-shirt and boxers. He opens the door to find Joey smiling. She blushes seeing him undressed. He is embarrassed and hides behind the door. "Good morning," Ah Nin manages to say despite his dried throat.
Joey (Bernice Liu) tries not to look at him and says, "Good morning..."
"Could you close your eyes and walk over to the couch so that I can go back inside and dress?" Ah Nin asks while scratching his hair.
"Oh no, go ahead." Joey closes her eyes and feels her way to the couch. She hears Ah Nin closing the door and running into his bedroom. Joey's cheeks were so red and hot. "How embarrassing!"
"Joey?" Nim Chi says as she emerges from the kitchen carrying a plate of noodles.
"Good morning, Auntie Chi," Joey smiles.
"Is something wrong? Why did you come here so early?"
"I wanted to leech off your breakfast this morning! Plus, I heard Auntie Chi's cooking is good."
Nim Chi chuckles, "Enough with the sweet tongue! Just pull out a chair and eat!"
"Thanks Auntie Chi!"
Loud crying could be heard from one of the bedrooms. Nim Chi sighs and yells, "Ah Yuet! Ah Lo! Fu jai and Gwai mui are crying!"
Ah Nin exits his bedroom dressed in sweatpants and a shirt. "They're still in the bathroom!"
"I have to finish making breakfast! Ah Nin, can you go check on Fu jai and Gwai mui for me?"
"Ma Chi, I don't know anything about babies!"
"You're almost going to be married. You should start learning! Go!"
Ah Nin looks at Joey, "Can you come in and help me?"
Joey is caught off-guard, "S-sure!" She places her bags on the couch and follows Ah Nin into Ah Yuet and Ah Lo's bedroom. Due to Fu jai and Gwai mui's crib, their bedroom was very clustered. The babies are wailing loudly when Ah Nin and Joey reach them.
"You take one and I'll take the other," Ah Nin instructs. He picks up Fu jai, who is dressed in blue while Joey holds Gwai mui, clad in pink. Even though the two had easily distinguishable anatomy, Ah Lo and Ah Yuet still dressed the two in pink and blue to make the distinction even easier. They didn't feel like taking a look into their babies' diapers every time to see who was Fu jai and who was Gwai mui.
"You're all right, be good," Ah Nin coos as he strokes Fu jai's back.
Joey is impressed by how loving Ah Nin looked. "Chris, you'd make a great father."
Ah Nin glances at her and smiles, "Look how Gwai mui is giggling and smiling at you! You'd make a good mother as well."
Nim Chi walks into the bedroom and beams. She compliments, "I can't believe you two were able to calm down Fu jai and Gwai mui so quickly!" In her mind, she also felt that the scene of Joey and Ah Nin holding the babies was like a young couple holding their newborns. She didn't say this though because she knew it would be inappropriate since Rose, not Joey, was going to become her big daughter-in-law.
"Babies like to be touched and held because it makes them feel warm and loved, so it was easy!" Joey explains. She makes a funny face for Gwai mui.
[Dining Room]
Ah Yat (Joyce Chen) is confused as she enters the dining room. There was someone sitting in Rose's chair at the dining table. "Rose? I thought you left yesterday to go to Canada? Why are you..."
Joey turns around and clears up Ah Yat's confusion. "Ah Yat, good morning."
"Joey? What are you doing here?"
"I came to join you guys for breakfast!"
Ah Lo (Bondy Chiu) was feeding Foon Foon and Hei Hei at their separate small dining table while Ah Yuet fed Fu jai and Gwai mui their milk one baby at a time on the couch. "Poor Marco and Kelly," Joey observes.
"Joey, don't feel so sad! It's Ah Lo's fault for wanting to be like a pig and giving birth to twins every time she's pregnant," Ah Yat answers.
Ah Hong (Johnny Tang) asks Joey, "How's your job at 'Ka Yan?'"
"Nothing much has changed, but I miss seeing you at 'Ka Yan,' Francis! Why did you quit?"
"Well, I wanted a change. I'm so glad to be away from Man Gwai Fei! Also, I wanted to work with Ah Yat and see her more every day. It's fun working on costumes and accessories for TVB. The costumes for the lead actress of the series that's airing this week, 'My Murderous Mother-in-Law,' was designed by me!" Ah Hong smiles.
"Really? I'll have to watch it."
"Oh my god! Is Mr. Wong doing an employee check-up?" Gam (Louis Yuen) exclaims seeing Joey at the dining table. He and Ying Gei (Yvonne Lam) are the last two people to leave their bedroom.
"Of course! I'll have to tell my daddy that I finally figured out why you're always running late. It's because you spend nearly an hour 'expelling poison!' You don't care enough about anything and you're always late, even at breakfast! Sister OK, I'm disappointed in you!" Joey jokes. She laughs, "I'm just kidding."
"So what are you doing here?" Ying Gei asks.
"I wanted to leech off breakfast today!"
"What's the real reason Joey?" Ah Nin looks up from reading the newspaper and asks.
"Well, remember Mrs. Li's order?"
"Yeah?"
"I finished the sketches!"
Ah Nin nearly spills his coffee, "Are you serious?"
Joey points to the bags on the couch, "Yes! I'll show you to them after we're done eating."
"That's great." Ah Nin frowns at Joey, "Don't tell me you didn't sleep last night and stayed up to finish it..."
"I did, but don't worry! I didn't force myself to stay up. I just had so much energy last night that I couldn't sleep, so I stayed up until 4:00 AM and finished the sketches. I'm so proud of myself! I did get a few hours of sleep before heading here. I'm fine!" Joey insists. In actuality, Joey was too excited after the "hamburger" incident of last night. Her heart wouldn't stop pacing because she hadn't spent such an intimate time with Ah Nin in years.
"Well, if you say so," Ah Nin smiles and eats his congee.
Joey felt her face getting hot. Ah Nin was worried and cared about her.
[Living Room]
Joey pulls out her sketches from her black portfolio and beams proudly at them. She hands them over to Ah Nin for inspection. "I followed Mrs. Li's likes and what her company invests in. These outfits should be exactly what she's looking for."
Ah Nin is impressed at all of the designs. He compliments, "You're good."
"Of course! This Joey Wong Yee doesn't just have a reputation!" Joey laughs.
"Her designs may be original, but her sayings aren't!" Ah Yuet interrupts the conversation between Ah Nin and Joey.
"What?"
"Ah Mei used to say that all of the time," Ah Yuet explains.
"That's right, what ever happened to May? How come I don't see her at 'Ka Yan' anymore? Why did that nasty Man Gwai Yan replace her?"
"Ah Mei left the company three years ago."
"Really? Why?"
Ah Yuet isn't sure whether he should give the real answer. On the surface, Ah Mei (Cutie Mui) resigned from "Ka Yan" company and left Hong Kong to go study fashion aboard. In truth, she left to avoid tension because her secret crush on Ah Yuet had been exposed and learned of by both Ah Yuet and Ah Lo.
Ah Yuet doesn't have to answer because Ah Lo answers, "She went to study fashion." Ah Yuet is relieved that he didn't have to say anything.
"That's awesome! She should be graduating soon." Joey smiles. "I miss her."
Ah Nin taps Joey, "So you can go to her company and present your designs today, right?"
"Of course. It won't be a problem."
"Are you sure? You seem tired. You haven't had a good night's rest."
"Chris, I appreciate the fact that you are worried about me, but don't worry! I'm not the least bit tired. I'm..." Joey yawns and faints on the couch.
"Joey?" Ah Nin calls.
Joey was in a deep sleep. Her eyes were closed and she began snoring and drooling. Ah Nin moves out of the way when Joey starts kicking her legs. She had a bad sleeping habit since she was a child. Ah Nin laughs silently looking at Joey sleeping. He decides to fetch her a blanket.
Ah Nin puts the blanket on Joey and smiles. He shakes his head. She had overworked herself.
