“For beef, you have to slice it along these imprints on the…”
Jaejoong’s voice evaporated when they heard Junsu’s loud squeal coming from the living room.
Yoochun dropped his little notebook and pencil to rush out, prepared to save his love from whatever it was that had caused such a sound.
“What’s going on? What’s going on?” Jaejoong and Yoochun chorused as they took in the scene in the living room.
Yunho sat calmly, back straight and each hand resting on each thigh, looking like a father figure. Junsu had frozen in place with his arms raised like he had just been flailing a second ago. Changmin was on the ground in front of Junsu and Kibum was just about to help him up.
“I do not know either,” Yunho rubbed his chin in confusion.
“Did you push him, Su-ie?” Jaejoong frowned disapprovingly.
“Yes!” Changmin shouted. Kibum had brought him to his feet and he was capable of standing on his own, but he still held onto Kibum’s hand.
“It was just a punch on his arm! I was happy! And it’s what guys do to each other when we want to thank each other! You know?” Junsu punched air to demonstrate.
“It was more like he was trying to kill me,” Changmin grumbled. Kibum laughed and rubbed the bicep that Junsu had punched.
Jaejoong stomped over to stand between Junsu and Changmin. He waved his spatula at Junsu and lectured, “No one is allowed to play rough in my house…except for Yunniebear! For no reason should you be…”
“Changmin got backstage passes to an award show! DBSK is attending this year too!” Junsu blurted out.
The spatula dropped and Jaejoong’s squeal could be heard ringing through the house. The other four flinched and covered their ears when Junsu joined him for a second round of squeals.
“Thanks, Mrs. Kim!” Jaejoong cheered as he punched Changmin’s other arm.
Changmin grimaced at how hard the punch turned out to be (and the new nickname). Apparently, Jaejoong and Junsu didn’t perform this friendly/manly gesture enough in their lifetime to know how much strength was ENOUGH.
Kibum chuckled and Changmin glared at him. “I’m being physically abused! Why are you laughing?”
“It’s okay,” Kibum paused. “Nothing can ruin my day today.”
“Why’s that?”
Kibum just grinned and smoothed out a wrinkle on the front of Changmin’s white T-shirt. There was only an imprint of a tomato and a ketchup bottle…and a talk bubble that read, ‘This is so messed up’.
“You’ve worked a miracle, Kibum,” Yoochun complimented, referring to Changmin’s casual outfit.
“Since he can’t wear a tuxedo for the wedding, I may put him in a gown,” Kibum informed.
Jaejoong and Junsu stopped squealing about the concert tickets and did a small cheerleading chant for the amazing Kibum.
“Why me, God? Why me?” Changmin cried. Then he sighed in defeat (again). At least Yunho was still…
“Don’t worry. Maybe you’ll look good in female attire,” Yunho comforted.
◙◙◙◙◙
“Who is this group again?” Yoochun asked Kibum.
“They’re a famous boy band. They are very talented, with the ability to dance, sing, compose, etc.”
“Are they good looking?” Yunho inquired.
“Apparently so,” Changmin drawled. The four were standing side by side and watching as Jaejoong and Junsu drew on each other’s faces.
Jaejoong had ‘D’ and ‘B’ on each cheek while Junsu had ‘S’ and ‘K’. They wore red T-shirts and were holding light-up signs.
“How did you get these tickets?” Kibum raised his head to look at Changmin.
“My corporation recently hired DBSK and several other celebrities from the same company to represent one of our products. It wasn’t hard to get these tickets, although I can’t say I don’t regret it.”
Kibum laughed. “So many possibilities: Jaejoong and Junsu could go crazy…er…crazier. They could jump their favorite group member and get in trouble. Yunho and Yoochun would become really jealous. Yunho and Yoochun would hurt you for giving them the tickets.”
“You don’t sound concerned for my life.”
“Oh, I’m concerned. You can let them beat you up, but just not on the face. And you’re not allowed to die either. That’s all I ask for,” the shorter man grinned.
“Gee, thanks. I love you too,” Changmin drawled.
“Do we get to go backstage before or after the concert?” Jaejoong ran over to them with Junsu close behind.
“After,” Changmin replied.
“Let’s get settled in our front row seats then! Maybe I’ll get to touch Micky’s hand!” Junsu squeaked.
“Who?” Yoochun raised an eyebrow.
“Micky!”
“Isn’t that a mouse?” Yoochun recalled the time Jaejoong had named the robotic rabbit who had died a tragic death.
“No, no, this Micky isn’t a mouse. He’s one of the members in the group. He’s the hottest and cutest and prettiest…”
“No! Hero is the prettiest! Uknow is the hottest!”
Yunho smiled because at least his boyfriend still regarded him as the ‘hottest’. “Thank you,” he laid a peck on Jaejoong’s cheek.
“He’s talking about Uknow from the group. His name is ‘U-no’. Yours is ‘Yun-no’,” Changmin pointed out. He felt slightly satisfied that he was getting Yunho back for the ‘look good in female attire’ comment from earlier.
Yunho raised an eyebrow at Jaejoong. “Is that so?”
“Yep! And you’ll understand why he’s my favorite after this show!” Jaejoong grinned. “Let’s go to our seats!”
◙◙◙◙◙
They watched several performances first. Yoochun and Yunho were not familiar with the loud music and the style of dancing, but they couldn’t say that it was bad. Of course, the performances would have been better if Jaejoong and Junsu weren’t ogling practically every celebrity onstage. Even worse were their shouts when that certain ‘Micky’ and ‘Uknow’ were onstage.
“I think they’re just okay,” Yunho crossed his arms and leaned back casually into the chair.
“I agree. The barber said he gave me this bowl cut because of ‘some boy band’. I’ll bet it’s this one,” Yoochun paused before adding. “I look better.”
Yunho nodded. The two continued to try to comfort each other. Kibum and Changmin were cuddling away in their own world.
It soon became time to present awards, with DBSK gathering five. The biggest and most honorable award was saved for last and it, of course, went to the famous five member boy band.
When the five were onstage to accept the honorable award, Yoochun and Yunho could hear a sob coming from Junsu. Jaejoong was holding him and the blond man looked like he wanted to cry as well.
“Thank you everyone who has supported us along our journey. Thank you to Mr. Lee for bringing us together and giving us the opportunity. Thank you to our manager hyung for fussing over us and truly caring for us more than he cares for himself,” the second tallest one was giving the speech.
“They’re crying,” Yoochun pointed out to Yunho. “Especially that one, that Micky guy. Look at him bawl! He’s so…sentimental and feminine. Almost cute.”
“I admire the guy giving the speech. This is obviously a big moment for them, but he’s still able to hold in his tears and appear so calm,” Yunho commented.
“Thank you to our family and friends who never got angry because we have been too busy to spend time with them. And of course, thank you to each and every one of our fans. We work hard because we do not want to disappoint any of you; we do not want to make you regret your love for us. We will continue to work hard and show you the many sides of DBSK. Thank you for remembering us even after we’ve been gone for so long. We love you all!” Uknow shouted the last line as he raised the trophy.
He was obviously the leader as he gestured towards each member to approach the microphone, but they were all unable to speak. Tears clogged their throats as the five gathered into a group hug.
The speech was limited, but their tears expressed the words in their hearts.
Yoochun and Yunho found that they were beginning to admire this group (jealousy aside). After all, how could they have so many fans cheering for them if they were not really made of hard work and beautiful hearts? It wasn’t just the handsome faces.
The MC wrapped up the show while the five continued to hug onstage. The crowd began to disperse and Junsu was now clinging to Yoochun in tears.
“Will you cry this much when I die?” Yoochun teased.
Junsu smacked him playfully. “You’re not crying because you don’t love them. I’ve been their fan since they debuted. Just knowing all the hard work and sacrifices they’ve put out is enough to make me tear up. This is the biggest award of the century and they had to trade in blood, sweat, time, love, and so much more for it. I’m so proud of them!”
“Stop it,” Changmin told Yoochun. “You’ll make him bawl as much as that Micky guy was doing on stage. It’s embarrassing.”
Yoochun nodded as he wrapped a comforting arm around Junsu.
Eventually, they made it backstage so that Jaejoong and Junsu could get autographs. When they walked into the large make-up room, Yoochun and Yunho were met with another surprise.
The bawling man who Yoochun had admired for being so sentimental and cute (although in a feminine way) wasn’t the one bawling his eyes out backstage. As a matter of fact, it looked like he was flirting with the girl who was fixing his hair. That didn’t make him look feminine at all, just charismatic and greasy.
Meanwhile, Yunho was in shock too. The leader who he had admired to be strong enough to hold in his tears and remain calm on stage was sitting there crying his eyes out while the tallest member, Max, and the shortest member, Hero, were comforting him.
Talk about disappointing. Now that Jaejoong and Junsu could see their true personalities backstage, then perhaps…
“Micky! Xiah! I’m your biggest fan! Can I have an autograph, please?” Junsu shouted. Yoochun noticed the Mouse…er…the Micky guy turning away from the girl and was giving his (Yoochun’s) Junsu a charismatic, flirty smile!
And his (Yoochun’s) boyfriend, fiancé, lover, Junsu was swooning!
“Uknow! Please, don’t cry! Your fans will always love you! We’re very proud of all of you!” Jaejoong comforted.
The leader of DBSK, always so down to earth with his fans, smiled and gave Jaejoong a hug.
Yunho wanted to punch the cry-baby.
“This is interesting,” Kibum whispered to Changmin, wrapping an arm around his waist.
“The only reason they haven’t been kicked out is because of me. Jaejoong will be my cook for the next month and Junsu will be my maid.”
Kibum laughed and he eyed Yoochun and Yunho’s handsome, jealous faces. “Let’s hope you won’t become Yoochun and Yunho’s punching bag first.”
