Chapter 13

Se7en ran to his brother and knelt down next to the chair. He touched his brother’s cheek, where a bruise was beginning to form (from Junsu’s punch in the bathroom).

“Hyung, are you okay?”

“‘Hyung’?” Junsu murmured.

Yoochun’s eyes were wide when he saw the wig and hat his brother was wearing (and Se7en’s voice sounded just like his own). Then it dawned on him and he raised his head to look at Jaejoong.

Jaejoong ignored his eyes and began to yell at the whole world, “What the hell do you think you’re doing? He has the right to a lawyer! And you, don’t you dare insult him!”

“Sir,” Yunho stepped in between Jaejoong and Junsu to try to calm the shouting man. Although Jaejoong had (before Yunho stepped in) a finger jabbing at Junsu’s chest, Junsu wasn’t paying attention. His eyes were on Se7en.

“Micky?” Junsu murmured.

Yoochun’s eyes showed fear as he looked up at Junsu. Junsu wasn’t looking at him.

“You said we were friends! Why are you treating my brother like this?” Se7en stood up to level with Junsu’s eyes. His shoes made him slightly taller.

“He’s your brother?” Junsu inquired.

Yoochun gripped onto Se7en’s hand and begged him to stop.

“Yes, I’m Micky. Yes, he’s my brother. He didn’t mean to cause your accident! He was rushing down the mountains that day because I had been hospitalized and he was worried to death! He’s the best brother in the world and has the kindest heart you’ll ever find!”

“I’m…” Junsu began.

“Just let him go! I applied to work for you to help you recover. Can that not make up for everything?” Se7en continued, ignoring Yoochun’s silent signals. “If you want then I’ll even give you back all the salary money!”

“This is the police station! If you continue to yell…” the policeman tried to interrupt, obviously trying to defend Mr. Kim.

“We’re out of here,” Jaejoong moved pass Yunho (who kept standing in front of him) to grab Yoochun’s other hand.

“Wait,” Junsu exclaimed.

Se7en and Jaejoong turned back to glare at him. Se7en continued to imitate Yoochun’s voice and retorted, “If you put him in jail then put me in there with him! We’ll no longer be friends and don’t you dare speak another word to me!”

“No, I’m sorry. I won’t sue him. I won’t,” Junsu promised. “But…can we talk? I want to talk to you, Micky. Please?”

Yoochun’s eyes shifted nervously from Jaejoong to Se7en; then to the tall Doctor Shim who had been silent this whole time as well as the other tall man who kept staring at Jaejoong. He squeezed Se7en and Jaejoong’s hands.

“Fine, but not here,” Jaejoong spoke anyway. Se7en nodded in agreement.

“Okay, anywhere is fine, as long as you’re willing to talk to me,” Junsu spoke to Se7en in a soft tone. His lips showed a grateful smile that made Yoochun’s heart hurt.

Yoochun saw that Jaejoong was driving back home while Junsu’s car followed behind.

“What are you doing? Don’t show them where we live!” he hissed.

“Don’t worry, I have this all planned out.” Jaejoong had spoken this statement numerous times in the past and it made Yoochun wary every single time.

“How? By making my brother pretend to be me? Are you insane?”

“We saved your butt, didn’t we? You certainly weren’t going to save yourself!” Jaejoong retorted.

“Hyung, please, we’re just trying to help you,” Se7en (who sat in the backseat) tried to persuade.

“This isn’t going to work!” Yoochun protested.

“I didn’t see you talking so much back at the station,” Jaejoong drawled as he drove.

“I…” Yoochun didn’t know what to say.

“It’s your choice, Yoochun. Either you confess to him or we plot to push him away.”

“Hyung, maybe…” Se7en wanted to say that maybe it was best to tell Kim Junsu the truth. Yoochun knew better.

“No, he’ll never be able to accept it. I can’t. Park Yoochun is a monster in his eyes, but Micky isn’t. Micky is a beautiful imagination. I don’t want to ruin that beauty.”

“Yoochun…” Jaejoong sighed.

“Plot to push him away.”

“I’ll respect your decision. For now, we just need to make him promise not to put you in jail.”

“Then what? Se7en can’t pretend to be me forever.”

“He only needs to pretend to be you until Kim Junsu gives up.”

“Will he give up?”

Part of Yoochun wanted Junsu to give up. Another part of him didn’t.

“Didn’t you use marriage as an excuse to quit your job?”

The light bulb clicked on. “Yes.”

“Perfect.”

The five (Yoochun, Se7en, Changmin, Junsu, and Yunho) sat in the living room of Jaejoong’s apartment. It was slightly bigger than Yoochun and Se7en’s living room. Besides, letting Kim Junsu into the Park resident today (when they were unprepared) risked giving him clues.

“Can we talk in private?” Junsu finally spoke after a moment too long of silence.

Se7en cleared his throat, remembering to imitate his brother’s voice, “There’s nothing for us to talk about that will require privacy.”

Junsu frowned. Yoochun missed that frown, but he didn’t stare for too long. He sat in the one-seat sofa, silent and head lowered.

Silence happened again as Jaejoong finally appeared with the beverages. He placed a variety of soda and juice cans in the middle of the coffee table.

“Take your pick,” he announced. “I make it a habit to take care of any guests who come to my house…even if I hate their guts.”

Junsu ignored Jaejoong’s glare.

“Sit down, Joongie” Se7en patted the empty seat next to him. Junsu didn’t like that and he was sure that ‘Joongie’ wasn’t the beautiful man’s real name; it was an intimate nickname.

“I guess my manners are one of the reasons you love me so much,” Jaejoong grinned charmingly at Se7en, wrapping an arm around the younger man.

Yunho and Changmin suddenly felt disappointed, but remained silent. Junsu didn’t bother to hide his own disappointment.

“So this guy is your fiancé?” he spoke in a voice, so pain-filled that Yoochun had to look at him. He didn’t look at Yoochun.

“Yes, we’re getting married soon. I believe I made that clear in the birthday card,” Se7en spoke. He had to bring up things from the previous times so that Junsu would believe that he was really ‘Micky’.

“You two…really match,” Junsu forced himself to compliment. “A great looking pair.”

Se7en and Jaejoong exchanged glances; they felt themselves hurting for Yoochun because of Junsu’s words.

“I really appreciate that you will forgive my brother. His freedom is the best wedding gift I could ask for,” Se7en spoke in Yoochun’s voice.

Junsu still wouldn’t look at Yoochun.

“Your gift was the best gift I’d ever received as well,” he smiled. He looked like he was trying really hard to remind Se7en (or ‘Micky’) of their happy moments. It was as if he believed that those happy moments may make ‘Micky’ realize that he was actually in love with Junsu and not the beautiful man that he would marry.

“I’m glad you like it,” Se7en replied, trying to remember what the gift was. Jaejoong and Yoochun had stuffed so much information into his brain in such short time that it was hard to remember every little thing.

“Yes, I’ll always be reminded to ‘look on the bright side’. It’s nice to be able to see again. I’m…happy to be able to see you,” Junsu rambled. He just wanted to keep talking because he didn’t want to leave. He didn’t want to leave Micky.

“Junsu, it’s getting late,” Changmin suddenly spoke.

“You haven’t been sleeping well for the past week. Let’s get you home to rest,” Yunho placed a hand on his shoulder.

Changmin glanced over to see that Se7en wasn’t showing any concern that Junsu had not slept well in the past week. Meanwhile, the silent man with the scar looked saddened by the information.

Reluctantly, Junsu nodded. His eyes were always on Se7en. “Good night, Micky.”

“Good bye, Mr. Kim,” Se7en replied; politely, like a stranger.

Junsu was hurt that Micky was suddenly treating him like a stranger. He was probably angry at the way Junsu had treated his brother.

“I’ll visit you tomorrow,” Junsu smiled, a hopeful smile.

Yoochun had to look away because it hurt. It hurt to see the egotistic, self-confident tycoon suddenly look like a lost child, begging to be accepted.

“There’s no need. I’ll be busy planning for the wedding,” Se7en said, again with no compassion in his voice.

“Now if you’ll all leave, my baby needs to sleep,” Jaejoong wrapped his arms around Se7en. The gesture was meant to tell Junsu that Se7en (or rather, ‘Micky’) belonged to Jaejoong, and only Jaejoong.

Junsu got the message. He looked away because it hurt too much. With one last glance at the hugging couple, he walked out of the apartment. Yunho and Changmin looked at each of the three (the couple and the mute man in the corner) before following Junsu out.

Se7en noticed that the tallest man stared at him for a moment too long and felt slightly uncomfortable. Did he know?
