Chapter 14

“You’re sure he’s Micky?”

“Why don’t you tell me? You were blessed to be able to see him when I couldn’t.”

Changmin looked into the rear-view mirror to see Junsu’s frown. Yunho had his eyes on the road.

“The height seems right and he’s skinny, although he seemed skinnier back on the island.”

“You haven’t seen him in a week. Maybe his fiancé fattened him up for the wedding,” Yunho pointed out. “His fiancé looks capable of cooking a mean meal.”

“You’d know. You were staring at him the whole time,” Junsu drawled.

“I was not!” Yunho defended.

“He wore a hat and the flu mask when I saw him too,” Changmin reminded, getting back on topic.

“Don’t you recognize his eyes?”

“So what if I do? His eyes look like his brother’s eyes. You want me to tell you that his brother is your Micky?”

“Hell no! That’s not possible!” Junsu exclaimed.

“You don’t have to react like that,” Yunho murmured.

“The guy is mute and…has that scar. He can’t be Micky.”

“Then it’s confirmed? Micky’s brother had caused your accident so he went ahead and applied for the housekeeping job to make up for his brother’s mistake?” Changmin clarified.

“Yes.”

“So what if he’s Micky? He’s getting married,” Yunho reminded as he turned into the driveway.

“What do you plan to do, Junsu?” Changmin inquired.

Junsu was silent for a moment before answering, “I’m going to give them the biggest wedding of the year!”

“What? Why?” the two taller men chorused.

Junsu sighed tiredly. “I obviously fell in love with Micky when we were on that island, but he clearly doesn’t return my feelings.”

Changmin and Yunho exchanged eye contact, not knowing how to react. They’d never seen Junsu like this. He usually used his temper to cover up this…depressing reaction.

“How does helping them with the wedding fix that?”

Leaning back against the car seat, Junsu ran a hand through his hair. “Give me a break. I’m trying to crush my own heart here. Micky didn’t break it thoroughly enough so I might as well take it into my own hands.”

Yoochun ruffled his hair and dragged his tired body to the door. He’d been unable to sleep last night, finally finding sleep at six in the morning. It was now eight. Jaejoong was at work and Se7en was at school. Yoochun was too tired and sleepy to look through the peephole before opening the door.

He became wide awake when he saw the person standing at the door. The person’s smile faded when he saw Yoochun.

In a serious, polite manner, the visitor spoke, “Is Micky here?”

Yoochun shook his head left and right. His hands unconsciously rose to fix his hair (and brush some strands forward to cover as much of the scar as possible).

“Can you tell me where he is?” Junsu didn’t acknowledge Yoochun’s effort.

Yoochun quickly searched for paper and pen. Jaejoong had said that it’s best if Yoochun pretended to be mute. They didn’t say anything, but the other three probably already made their own assumptions.

He found one of Se7en’s notebooks and wrote [He went out to breakfast with Jaejoong.]

Junsu kept his eyes on the notebook, standing (too) far from Yoochun. He was even willing to strain his neck to read upside down rather then step closer. Yoochun didn’t bother to step closer either.

“Do you know when he’ll…they’ll be back?” the slightly shorter man inquired. He turned his head to look around the small living room so that he wasn’t looking at Yoochun.

He waited until he heard the sound of scribbling before looking back down at the notebook.

[He’ll be back when you leave.]

Junsu grew angry. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”

He was looking at Yoochun now, finally. But not in the good way. His eyes were uncontrollably shifting to the scar. Yoochun turned his face slightly so that Junsu could only see the right side of his face.

[It means you should leave him alone. He’s happy with Jaejoong.]

Junsu read the words and frowned some more. Yoochun missed the frown.

Then the frown faded and Junsu threw Yoochun a challenging look, “That means you know I’m in love with your brother.”

Yoochun felt like someone had knocked the air out of his lungs. He hadn’t…he didn’t…think about…or realized that.

Talk about being blind…

…or maybe it wasn’t that he was blind. He was just in denial.

[Please leave.]

Junsu suavely looked away, eyes avoiding. Then he simply said, “I’ll come back later,” and left.

“I’m going to help you set up your wedding!”

Se7en and Jaejoong’s mouths dropped open.

“Don’t you have a huge company to run or something? We just plan on having a small party with close friends. There’s no need…”

“I insist. We’re friends, right? I owe you for being there for me when I was blind. I know my temper isn’t easy to handle.”

Yoochun, who was sitting silently next to Se7en, reached behind his baby brother to tug the sleeve of the shirt that Jaejoong (who sat on the other side of Se7en) was wearing.

“No, I don’t…”

“Why not? He has too much money. It’s about time he does something good with it,” Changmin cut in, eyes on Se7en.

Se7en felt uncomfortable because of his suspicious eyes. “I don’t…”

“Unless you two aren’t actually getting married, then I don’t see a reason why you wouldn’t let Junsu get involved,” the tallest man pointed out.

Se7en glanced at Jaejoong. He played with the ends of the wig he was wearing so that his hand covered his mouth. Silently, his lips moved to silently say, “Now what?”

“Well, can’t say ‘no’ to free money,” Jaejoong shrugged. Se7en and Yoochun stared at him with wide eyes.

Junsu frowned, wondering if this pretty man was a money craving fiend. It would be nice if he was. Junsu had spent too much time trying to find a flaw in the man, hopefully a flaw that would make Micky dump him.

“It’s set then!”

“Jaejoong…” Se7en tried to protest.

“It’s okay, baby. Let him do what he wants. The only thing that matters in the end is that the one you’re marrying is me.”

Yoochun silently performed a face-palm and shook his head. This was getting out of hand.

■■■■■

“He agreed?” Yunho exclaimed. He’d been at work all day and was now joining Changmin and Junsu in a bar.

Junsu ignored his surprise and brought up another topic, “Do you know someone who’s good at fixing phones? I need this one fixed.”

Changmin and Yunho looked at the small zip-lock bag that Junsu pulled out of his pocket. Inside were scattered pieces of a broken phone. It wasn’t even the latest model.

“Can’t you just buy a new one? It’s such an old model,” Yunho pointed out.

“It belonged to Micky. Don’t you think it’ll be more special if I get this phone fixed for him? It’ll make him remember our time on the island and hopefully…”

“I thought the point of helping them with the marriage was to make you let go of him!” Changmin interrupted.

“Yeah, but until then, I can keep trying.”

Changmin rolled his eyes. “You’ve changed. You’re pathetic…and confusing.”

Junsu chose to ignore him. A waitress in a skimpy outfit walked over to their table. “Hello, Handsomes. Can I get you guys something to drink?”

Changmin and Yunho ordered alcohol (it was a bar after all). When it was Junsu’s turn, he said, “Orange juice.”

Yunho, Changmin, and the waitress looked at him like he’d grown a third eye.

“Orange juice?”

“Yeah, what’s wrong with that?”

Changmin spoke to Yunho, “You want to bet me fifty bucks that Micky’s favorite drink is orange juice?”

“I’m not stupid, Changmin,” Yunho drawled.

“Being stupid is better than being confused,” the young doctor replied, his eyes sliding towards Junsu. Junsu ignored him and thanked the waitress who was quick to bring the cute man a glass of orange juice.
