…A few days later…
Qian woke up that morning feeling nauseated. She felt her body weighs a ton, which is ironic because she is now only skin and bones. She began to vomit and her nose was bleeding. The doctor, nurses, and Raymond rushed in to help once they heard her vomiting.
After a few hours of testing and checking, the doctor came back into Qian’s room to tell her the result. At this time Qian’s whole family have arrived and was waiting anxiously in her room. On both sides on her bed were her mother, and Lily. The men were standing about a few feet a way. They all had a worried look on their face.
Finally the doctor came in with the folder in his hand.
“I hope everyone is ready for what I’m about to say,” the doctor began. “According to all the testing that we have done, it is determined that Miss Li’s tumor has fully grown. I’m sorry to say that there is nothing else we can do. Please accept my apology.”
The women in the room began to cry and the men tried their hardest to hold back their tears, but they couldn’t.
“It’s okay doctor. I knew this day would come. You don’t have to apologize.” Qian spoke.
“Qian…my poor daughter,” her mom cried and held onto her lifeless body.
“Mom…it’s going to be okay. Right now, all I want to do is go home. I want to go home.”
“Home?”
“Yes, I want to be at home.”
Without any further ado’s, Qian’s dad checked her out of the hospital and took her home. He knew that his daughter wanted to spend her last days in her warm home rather than the cold hospital room.
…on a beautiful sunny day…
Qian was lying in her bed listening to Ray playing her favorite song, My Heart Will Go On, on the piano.
“Ray?”
Ray stopped playing and turned around to look at Qian.
“Let’s go outside. It’s a beautiful day; I don’t want to be in the house. Let’s go to the beach, I want to go to the beach Ray.”
“Umm…” Ray hesitated, but seeing the hopeful look on Qian’s face, he wasn’t able to say no.
Qian was right, it was a beautiful day. The sun was beaming upon the clear blue sky. Once in a while, there would be a gentle breeze flown by causing the sea water to shiver. Sitting on the back of Ray’s bike with wind blowing in her hair, Qian was feeling as joyous as ever. It was the best feeling she has ever had. They laughed and joked as if it was any ordinary day. After the bike ride, the couple took a romantic walk on the beach. Hand in hand, the couple walked, talked, and laughed with each other.
“Ray, let’s make sand castles,” Qian suggested out of the blues.
“Sand castles? But we don’t have anything to make it with.”
“We have our hands, don’t we?”
“But that’s dirty,” Ray answered with a grossed out look on his face.
“Oh shut up!” Qian said and hit him playfully.
“I was just kidding. Let’s get started. The person with the best looking castle in 15 minutes gets a kiss alright?”
“You…” Qian gave Ray a death stare and Ray returned her warning with a smirk on his face.
The couple then turned all their attention on building their sand castle. Both of them were trying their best to make their castle look attractive.
…15 minutes later
“TIME!” Ray shouted. “I’m done!”
However, Qian was still not finished with her castle.
“Hey! That’s not fair, I’m not even finished with mine. What the heck!”
“Toooooo BAD! I finished with mine, so therefore I WON!”
With that said, Ray puckered up his lips, closed his eyes and was waiting for Qian to lay a big one on him. After a few minutes of waiting but nothing was happening, Ray opened his eyes to see Qian was flushing. Her face was as ripe as a tomato.
“HEY! Ms. Redface, I’m waiting.”
“Are you serious? You want me to…you here?”
“I want you to WHAT me here? Kiss me?? YES!”
“There are too many people and little kids around.”
“So, you’re saying that you’re embarrassed to kiss me?”
Qian nodded her head.
“So, would you feel better if I…” without finishing his sentence, Ray leaned forward and kissed Qian on the lips. “…kiss you?” He said after letting go.
“You little…you are so DEAD!”
“Oh crap!” Ray took off running and Qian was chasing after him.
After chasing Raymond for a few minutes, Qian began to feel a little nauseated. She felt something was tricking down from her nose, Qian immediately knew that it was blood and quickly used her hand to wipe it away before Ray could see that she was bleeding. But she was too late; Ray saw the whole thing and raced toward her.
“Qian, are you alright?”
“Yeah, I’m okay. I just need to go to the restroom.”
“Okay, let me help you.”
In the restroom, Qian felt as sick as ever. Her body felt limbless she felt as if all her energy has been drained away from her. But she decided to pick herself up, because she knows that on the other side of that door, there’s a worried man waiting for her to get out.
“Qian,” Ray immediately jumped once he saw her stepping out of the restroom. “How are you feeling?”
Forcing herself to put on a smile, Qian answered with a nod.
