Chapter 4

A week has gone by since Ray’s last encounter with Qian. During the past seven days, Ray spent at least 3 hours of each day outside of Qian’s house; waiting for her to come out and talk to him. But all seven days he came with hope and went home with disappointment.
Then came one rainy day; the rain came pouring down as if to wash everything away. Qian sat at her window lookind at the rain pounding against it when she heard a knock on her door. She opened the door to find her stepmother looking at her wearily.
“What’s wrong Lily.”
“That young man is here again. He’s waiting for you outside…in the rain.”
Qian gasped and ran to her window to look outside. ‘What is he doing standing in the rain without an umbrella. He’s going to be sick.’ She thought.
“Lily, can I ask you for a favor…”
A look of hope flashed in Ray’s eyes when he saw the door to the house opened, and went away when he realized that the person at the door wasn’t Qian, but her stepmother.
“Qian asked me to give you this umbrella, and she said that you should go home.”
“Q-Qian she’s home?!?! Qian-ahh…I want to talk to you. Come outside. Please??????” Ray shouted.
Having her hands over her ears, Qian is trying to block Ray’s voice out of her head. But tears would just come flowing down from her two eyes.
A while later…
“Qian honey, aren’t you going to go outside to see him? It has been two hours since he’s out there. If he continues like that, he would catch pneumonia.”
Qian opened her eyes as her stepmother speaks.
“If you don’t want to see him anymore, you should just go out there to tell him to go home yourself. Maybe he needs to hear it from you. Just go out there and tell him to go home. I don’t want your father to come home to find a guy sitting outside of our home.”
Qian took a moment to think about what her stepmother had said.
‘I can’t let him stay outside like that. What if the fool gets sick? Ray, why can’t you just let me be alone?’
With the thought in mind, Qian decided to go outside to see Ray.

Sitting on the curb outside of Qian’s house, Ray couldn’t help but blame himself for all the pain that he has caused for Qian.
‘She must have really hated me. Who wouldn’t hate me? Even I hate myself for what I’ve done. How could I be such a jerk to her? God, please let me know how can I make it up to her?’
Suddenly, the rain stopped falling; Ray could no longer feel the raindrops on his body. Taken surprised by this Ray looked up to fin Qian standing over him with an umbrella in her hand shielding him from the rain.
Slowly Ray stood up face to face with the young girl in front of him.
‘Oh God! Her eyes are red from crying for me. Qian, please don’t shed a tear for me. Don’t shed a tear for this jerk. I’m not worth it.’ Ray pleaded to himself.
“Q…”
“I came out to tell you to go home. I don’t want my dad to come home to find you sitting outside of our house.” Qian spoke before Ray began his sentence.
“I missed you. A lot!” Ray finally spoke
Blinking away her tears, Qian said, “That’s all I came out here to say.”
Using her free hand, Qian took Ray’s right hand and handed him the umbrella in her hand.
“You’re going to need this.” Then she turned around and walked away.
Ray knew that once Qian walked back into that house, she would never come out once again. The only thing that was running through his head at the time is that he has to do everything to keep that woman by his side. He knew for a fact that he can’t be without her. Dropping the umbrella in his hand, Ray took off after Qian. Pulled her into his tight grasp from behind, Ray pleaded.
“Qian, please don’t turn your back on me. I don’t know if I could stand another day without you. Do you how I lived my past week? The past seven days seemed like 7000 years. I know…I know that I have hurt you deeply. But please let me make it up to you by loving you. All those times you were there right by my side when I was down, now let me be the one who is there for you. I promise, I will do my best to give you all the happiness in this world. Just don’t ignore me, please, don’t ignore me. I promise I won’t let you shed another tear for me. Will you give me one more chance to show that I love you?”
Qian was taken by surprised by all this; all she could do was standing there like frozen statue, tears were pouring out from her eyes.
Ray on the other hand loosened his grip and used his hands to turn Qian around to face him. His heart tightened once his saw her tears on her face mixed with raindrops. Ray let go of Qian’s shoulders and used his hands to wipe away all the water on her face.
“Will you give me a chance to love you?” Ray gazed lovingly into her eyes and asked.
At this point Qian could no longer contain herself, she began to break down and cried. However these are the tears of happiness, she nodded and buried her head deep into his chest. The chest of the man she loves so deeply.
Pulling her away from his chest, Ray lowered his head and placed a passionate kiss on her lips. For the both of them, time suddenly seized. There is no longer anyone around them but themselves. For some reason, the rain began to stop and the sun came out. The sunlight danced as if to rejoice their love for one another…
