Qiao En *standing by the glass window, looking out at the scenery* (POV): 3 years already.. I thought we would never meet each other again. Can’t believe he’s the General Manager of Senwell, my boss! Oh my gosh! How can I avoid seeing him?
After work, as usual Shao Wei and Qiao En left Senwell together. They went to a French restaurant for dinner.
Shao Wei: Wah! Nice place sia!
Qiao En: My treat mah! Besides.. I like this restaurant too..
Shao Wei: Really?
Both of them sat down and waitress came with the menu. After looking at the menu for 5 minutes, they finally placed their orders and while waiting for food to be served..
Shao Wei *smiling*: So how do you find our GM? You were asking is he handsome not!
Qiao En: er.. ok lah..
Shao Wei: Wah! Ok only ah? He’s the youngest bachelor leh!
Qiao En: So? Not my problem leh..
Shao Wei: I just realized something..
Qiao En *taking a sip of water*: Yah?
Shao Wei: mm.. Both of you were from the same university and graduated from the same batch.
Qiao En *choked on water*
Shao Wei: hey! Qiao En, are you alright?
Qiao En *nodding her head*: I am fine.
Shao Wei: Why you seem so shocked?
Qiao En *anxiously hiding*: Nope. I am not.
Shao Wei: I was just wondering did both of you meet each other before in the university?
Qiao En: huh? Him? No lah.. *weak laughter*
Shao Wei: Really?
Qiao En: Yah. Eh! Will he be in office everyday?
Shao Wei: Of course. There’s a big project coming up soon and he will be handling the case himself. I guess he will be announcing it tomorrow bah. He is also looking for an assistant.
Qiao En: Oh..
Shao Wei: Ever since you saw him, you gave me a feeling that you are rather afraid to see him..
Qiao En *gave a weak smile*: No lah.. Afraid for what? There’s nothing to be afraid of.
Qiao En (POV): Wah! Shao Wei’s question really shocked me. Didn’t expect him to ask this question. He noticed it.
Shao Wei: Really?
Qiao En: yah la! Food’s here. Let’s eat bah.
Qiao En (POV): Thank goodness! The food came at the right time. Not ever am I going to bring that matter up again.
Shao Wei: ok bah!
Throughout the dinner, Shao Wei and Qiao En have been chatting and cracking jokes happily.
While at Ming Dao’s house, his parents went home early to celebrate his return. They got the servants to prepare lots of his favourite food, as he didn’t get to eat them all at America. Indeed Ming Dao really finished them all he missed the food cooked by his servant Lin Sao. She is the only one that knows his tastes. After finishing the food, Ming Dao and his parents went to the living room area and have some fruits.
Mrs. Lin: Ming Dao, look! You have lost so much weight!
Mr. Lin: How was life in America?
Ming Dao: Not bad. The business at Senwell is not bad too.
Mr. Lin: It’s great to hear that.
Mrs. Lin: hey! Don’t talk about work at home. Your son just came back today!
Ming Dao: Ma.. is alright.
Mrs. Lin: So how about the girl you mentioned?
Mr. Lin: Girl?
Mrs. Lin: Oh… he fell in love with a girl who was from the same batch as him. I think that was during his 2nd year bah.. Should be about 4 years ago.
Mr. Lin: Really? Why didn’t you bring her back?
Ming Dao: Pa.. Ma.. Actually..
Ming Dao (POV): Is a pain to bring this up! A misunderstanding causes it all.
Ming Dao *sad tone*: Actually.. We have broken up after being together for 1 year.
Mrs. Lin: WHY?
Mr. Lin: Find that doesn’t suit each other?
Ming Dao *lowered his voice*: We were getting along very well; we broke up due to a misunderstanding.
Mrs. Lin: Oh.. This shows that the trusts between both of you are not strong enough.
Ming Dao: Ma.. Actually it’s my entire fault. The misunderstanding started because I was too softhearted.
Mrs. Lin: Want to share?
Mr. Lin *turned to Mrs. Lin*: Let him be lah..
Mrs. Lin: Do you still like her?
Ming Dao *nodded his head*: I have never been so serious over a girl before.
Mrs. Lin *sigh*: Well son, if both of you are fated to be together, you will be together. If you are not fated, no matter how hard you force yourself to maintain a relationship it won’t help.
Ming Dao: Ma… I understand. Don’t worry for me. I know what I am doing.
Mr. Lin: Oh ya! Where’s Shao Wei? Haven’t seen him the whole day.
Ming Dao: I met him in the office today. He said he’s going out for dinner with a friend.
Mrs. Lin *curious tone*: Is that friend very important?
Ming Dao: er.. Don’t know..
Ming Dao (POV): I wish to know the answer too!
Mr. Lin: Ming Dao, I am not sure if Shao Wei has told you about a new staff. She’s Qiao En. She has been an excellent performer.
Ming Dao: Yah! I heard that from Shao Wei.
Mr. Lin: I bet she will be of great help.
Ming Dao *smiles*: I hope so.
Mrs. Lin: Did Shao Wei say he’s coming back?
Ming Dao: He never.
Mr. Lin: Maybe he is going to his new house bah.
Ming Dao: New house?
Mr. Lin: Yah! He bought a house nearby.
Ming Dao: Really? Why?
Mrs. Lin: He just said he wants a home to himself.
Ming Dao: I can understand that..
Mr. Lin: Ming Dao, I won’t be there for the meeting tomorrow. As for the upcoming project, I have read the proposal. I have no objections to it. You may proceed with it and maybe you can consider asking Qiao En to assist you.
Mrs. Lin *turned to Mr. Lin*: Seems like you like this girl a lot?
Mr. Lin: Yah! She’s a very nice girl. I bet you will like her when you see her. Anyway Senwell’s anniversary is coming in 2 weeks time. You will get to see her then.
Mrs. Lin: Really? Looking forward!
Ming Dao (POV) *sigh*: D&D? *sigh*
After the chats, all felt tired and went back to their respective room. When Ming Dao went back to his room, a room he hasn’t stepped in for years. He felt very cozy and laid on the bed. A while later, he stood up and walked towards his luggage. He unzips it and took out a few photo frames. Those were the photos he took with that girl. He took it and place it by his bed side.. Sitting and leaning on his headboard, looking at the picture.
Ming Dao (POV): Are we really over?
In the end, he hugged the photo and gone into sleep.
