Qiao En and Ming Dao should be thankful that their marriage has always been kept low-profile in the office or else their separation will definitely be spreading around in the office. People in the office find it weird that Ming Dao and Qiao En hasn’t been coming and leaving the office as a pair for the past few days. Perhaps they were just too used to it.. they have been seeing that for one year plus..
Wei Ru (knocks on Ming Dao’s door)
Ming Dao: Come in.
Wei Ru: GM, here’s the report.
Ming Dao: Thanks..
Wei Ru: If there’s nothing else, I shall leave.
Ming Dao: Wei Ru..
Wei Ru: Yah?
Ming Dao (hiding his concern): how’s Qiao En?
Wei Ru (blur): huh? She’s your wife why are you asking me?
Ming Dao (stunned): She didn’t go back to the apartment you all used to share?
Wei Ru: Ah?
Ming Dao (sighed): She moved out..
Wei Ru (surprised): Why?
Ming Dao (sighed again): For some reasons.. is hard to explain either..
Wei Ru: Hmm… she’s on leave today.. but no worries I know what to do.
Ming Dao: Keep me informed of anything..
Wei Ru: Sure.
Ming Dao: Thanks.
After leaving Ming Dao’s office..
Wei Ru [POV]: she moved out? Meaning they quarreled? Going on separation?
After work she called Qiao En, asking her over to the apartment. Qiao En came over with her usual smiles on her.. but who knows how exactly she’s feeling deep inside her.
Qiao En: yoh.. I am here…
All: oh..
Just as they were chatting and watching tv, Wei Ru became serious…
Wei Ru: Qiao En.. what happened between you and Ming Dao?
Qiao En expected this question to reach her ears but not that soon. She guessed, Wei Ru also got this news from Ming Dao..
Qiao En (took a deep breathe): I moved out..
All: WHAT?
Xiao Qiao: What happened?
Xiao Jie: Ming Dao bullied you?
Wei Ru: Quarrelled?
Qiao En (in a calm manner): Well.. just need some time alone to sort things out..
Xiao Qiao: Your mother-in-law leh?
Qiao En: This has nothing to do with her.. Just between him and myself.
Wei Ru: When are you going to move back?
Qiao En just kept quiet and shrugged her shoulders..
Xiao Qiao: You are really not going to go back if he apologize?
Qiao En gave the same reaction.
Wei Ru: What if you are pregnant? Are you going to let your baby be fatherless?
Qiao En (finally opened her mouth and talked): Pregnant? This is impossible!
All: Why?
Xiao Qiao: This is just a scenario! What if!!
Qiao En: I can assure all of you this won’t happen. If this is really going to happen.. I won’t keep the child.
All: ABORTION?
Qiao En (on the verge of losing her temper): Why would I want to keep a baby who’s going to grow in an incomplete family? Why would I want a child that’s brought to me without love and will only reminds of sadness. Besides that, I can be sure I won’t get pregnant because both of us knew that we can’t “afford” to have baby.
After hearing all that, they became quiet. The rest of them didn’t expect this to happen to both of them as they have seen how loving they were for the past one year plus. They thought, both of them have already succeeded in maintaining their marriage with love but now seems like they are wrong.
Xiao Qiao: So what are you planning to do next?
Qiao En: Don’t know.. no plans yet…
Actually, whatever Qiao En has on her mind now she won’t reveal anything out as well because she knows Wei Ru will definitely tell Ming Dao.
Wei Ru: Qiao En…
Qiao En: Please don’t talk about this anymore… Give me a break!
Seeing her being so upset, the other three girls decided to stop bombarding her with those questions anymore. She tried to relax herself but she couldn’t do so. Her mind still has flashback on that night’s argument. After the chatting sessions, she went back home alone feeling down.
She still goes to work as per normal, treating as if nothing had happened between Ming Dao and her. Unless it’s necessary if not she won’t want to see Ming Dao even in the office.. While on the other hand, whenever Ming Dao sees her he wanted to stop her but he held back.
“knock knock”
Ming Dao: Come in..
???: GM, this is the report that you wanted..
Ming Dao: En..
Qiao En (without any eye contact with him): If there’s nothing else I shall make a move..
Ming Dao stood up and blocked her way out of the door. Qiao En stared and stepped hard on his foot.
Qiao En: I don’t wish to talk about personal things in the office and I don’t think I have anything to say to you.
She pushed him aside and left the office. This time, that is really hurting Ming Dao. He never had this kind of feeling… Her coldness towards him made him feel scary and worried but the worst has yet to come.
At night…
Qiao En [POV]: is that a mistake right from the beginning? If I didn’t agree to it, this wouldn’t happen. Anyway since this matter has been brought up, is time for me to do something. This would be good for both of us.
Ming Dao (lying on the bed staring at their wedding photo) [POV]: She’s really ignoring me. Her coldness is back just like the past… Why do I feel so hurt by it?
These few days, Ming Dao is really not used to life without Qiao En. He missed her smile, the way she read book on the bed, the housewife look of hers when doing the dishes and of course misses hugging her at night. Ever since marriage, he has been hugging her to sleep. He’s really not used to facing the big room all by himself.
One week have past, though Ming Dao’s mother didn’t ask or say anything doesn’t mean she don’t know what’s going on. She did overhear a bit of their conversation.
After work, Qiao En went back home with bags of cup noodles she bought from supermarket. She prepared a cup of noodle and left it to cool before eating. She used to like eating cup noodles as she finds it quick and easy to settle a meal. One year plus of marriage life, Ming Dao’s mother has adjusted her taste so right now she finds eating cup noodle is really unhealthy as it contains lots of preservatives.
Doorbell was heard and she was wondering who could that be? She was wondering if is Wei Ru and the rest..
Qiao En (opened the door and was rather stunned): Ma?? What are you doing here?
Seeing her mother-in-law carrying so many things, she immediately went forward and helped her with the bags and invited her in.
Mrs. Lin: I know you won’t really take care of yourself. See.. having cup noodles for dinner. (removing the items from the bags and passed it to her)
Qiao En [POV]: All these are food?
Mrs. Lin: These are some frozen dumplings just put in microwave and you can have it. There are also milk, your favourite small buns. Remember to steam it in the morning and have your breakfast before going to work. I have made some pork ribs you can have it when you are hungry. I leave it in the fridge; warm it when you want to eat it.
Qiao En: Orh. (helping to put the food in the fridge) Ma, these things are heavy how did you bring them all here yourself?
Mrs. Lin (walked over and sat on the sofa): Someone sent me here.. My son who is also your husband is afraid that you will be unhappy to see him so he’s staying downstairs.
Qiao En: o..
Mrs. Lin: I have something to ask you…
Qiao En [POV]: here to be peace-maker?
Mrs. Lin: Qiao En, answer me honestly.. am I the cause of your separation? Because I have been requesting both of you to have kids?
Qiao En (frowned): Who told you that? This has nothing to do with you and nothing to do with the baby topic. Just that certain thing happened between both of us.
Mrs. Lin (feeling much relieved after hearing that): Phew.. glad to hear that. I thought I am the cause of this. As for the problem between both of you I won’t intervene. That’s your problem it won’t help even if I intervene, still need both parties to solve the problem yourselves. Last question, is this serious?
Upon hearing that Qiao En feel like laughing. If is not serious would they end up in a separation?
Qiao En (dropping some hints): perhaps everything was a wrong move since the start.
Mrs. Lin (gently tapping Qiao En’s hand): Ever since both of you got married, to me your relationship has been harmonious, a happy marriage needs heart to manage it and not just on feelings alone. Marriage and courtship are two different matters. Since already in the marriage stage, should cherish it. Don’t worry. If he’s in the fault, I will definitely stand by your side giving you moral support. Well, that’s all.. I need to go. He’s waiting for me.
Qiao En: okies.. (walking with her to the doorstep)
Mrs. Lin: I hope you can come back and have dinner with me..
Qiao En (smiles): I know..
After seeing Mrs. Lin left, she closed the door gently.. And as expected she is here to be peacemaker.
