Chapter 19

-Morning after Bosco’s Birthday-

Michelle Yim: Hey Bosco! Can you go to the trader’s store, bringing this vase with you? As I bought it the other day, however, the vase was too large for the flowers, & the store owner wouldn’t allow me to return it. However, I don’t really need it, see if we could get a few $ back. I bought it at $50. Thanks Bosco, I’m off to phoenix village now.

Bosco: That’s fine! Bye mum!

Bosco headed out of the house, walking towards the trader store. He asked the owner how much the vase was worth, and told him that it was still brand new and un-used, however, couldn’t be returned back.

Man: This is worth about $40 only, that’s the most I can pay for it, if this is used, it will be worthed $30 or less.

Bosco: (Thought to himself: So my mum only lost $10? I think she wouldn't mind.) Ok, that’s a deal!

The man wrote out a $40 cheque on the piece of squared paper. While Bosco was waiting, he saw a jade bracelet which looks familar to him, it was being muddled up together with other accessories too, in a wooden tray, he remembered it was Tavia’s one, as it had a pink diamond shown onto it.

Bosco: Excuse me! May I have a look at that jade bracelet please? The one with a pink diamond shown onto it. (Pointing towards the tray of accessories.)

Man: Sure! You certainly have good taste, this jade bracelet is ex-ordinary from any other jade bracelets.

Bosco examined it, and realised it was definitely Tavia’s one, as it had her name written onto it. He thought to himself, and also asked himself why would Tavia sell the jade bracelet.

Bosco: May I ask, is it a female who sold it to you? & is she around this tall, with big eyes, pale cheeks and her hair tied in two bunches? Something like that?

Man: Wow! How did you know?

Bosco: Um…did she tell you why she sold it to you?

Man: Of course not, why would she tell me it? She is very quiet actually. I asked her where she got this jade bracelet from, and at the end, she never replied back.

Bosco: Um...how much did she sell you it for?

Man: $80.

Bosco: Really? Why did she want this money for? That is pretty strange, she has money herself. Anyways, I want to buy it please. Would you sell it at the old price of $80?

Man: Um…

Bosco: Please, this is important!

Man: Ok, so if I don’t write this $40 cheque to you, you still owe me $40?

Bosco nodded and grabbed out his purse, coincidentally he dropped the jade butterfly which Tavia bought for him onto the floor. He looked at it and said, "Don’t tell me she sold that jade bracelet for this birthday present for me?" Bosco immediately handed the man the $40, and took hold of the jade bracelet. Trying to head to any store selling jade accessories, by showing the sales assistant the jade butterfly, wondering if they have sold this item before to anyone. Finally, after a few stores, he finally came across to one, which the sales assistant recognised the jade butterfly.

Sales Assistant: Yes, we sold this jade butterfly a few days ago to a young girl, it seems like she really likes it, because she poured out all the coins from her purse and lastly handed me the $80. It seems like she used all her money to but this jade butterfly.

Bosco: Are you sure it is this jade butterfly? (Bosco then described Tavia, the sales assistant nodded, as he did recognised her, as she had came in the shop twice.)

Bosco: How much is this jade butterfly by the way?

Sales Assistant: The original price is $150, however, I gave her a discount, so I sold it to her at the price of $130.

Bosco: $130? The price is still very deer? How come? One of your jade accessories like the jade bracelet is only worth $60. (Looking at the price tags in the store)

Assistant: Yes, but the maker who made this, only made one pair, so you wouldn’t find this jade butterfly elsewhere. It is very special, and is also named "Fated Butterfly" by the maker.

Bosco: Um…ok. Thanks for your help.

Bosco walked out of the shop feeling awkward if Tavia really have a crush on him. As normally, you will only buy a couple charm for your lover and not a friend.

Bosco: No, don’t be silly! She is an Angel and I am a human being, I think she just…..wants to buy me a birthday present, yes, that’s it! Because of the work and stuff I did for her. I don’t think I have fallen in love with her? No! But…why did I climb up the tall building using the ladder when I am afraid of heights for her…aww…maybe I have overcome this problem? Yes!

Bosco headed back to Phoenix Village wondering if Tavia would be there helping. Indeed, Tavia was in the counter using the “suen poon” calculating, while Michelle Yim is in the kitchen preparing the dishes. He walked towards the counter nervously, of thinking what to say to Tavia. Tavia looked up and saw Bosco in front of her with a confused expression.

Tavia: Hey Bosco! You have come here to help? Not like you woh, have you catched a fever or something? (& placed his hands on Bosco’s forehead) No, you haven’t woh.

Bosco: Hey Tavia! Fine then, I assume you don’t want this precious bracelet (Taking the bracelet out, and waved it in front of Tavia’s face then back to his pocket.)

Tavia: Where….where did you find it?

Bosco: In the trader’s store? Don’t tell me you sold it for my birthday….birthday present, ey? The "Fated butterfly"?

Tavia: No! What are you on about? Well, don’t think the wrong way Bosco! I just…(her expression looked muddled, trying to look for help from someone) yes, saw….saw this beautiful jade butterfly charm, and I really liked it, however, I have to buy it as a pair. &….& beside, I still owe you…a birthday present, so I have decided, might as well buy it for you, to stop you winding. However, I didn’t have enough money, so…I went to the trader’s store to sell it at the moment. What else to you think?

Bosco: Um…I….I….well nothing. Just wondering, anyway, here is your jade bracelet! Don’t want to owe you anything either!

Tavia: Fine then! Thanks ever so much!

Tavia walked into the kitchen pretending to see if Michelle Yim needs any help. As Tavia is feeling extremely embarrassed being questioned like that. While Bosco was still standing in the middle of the restaurant feeling embarrassed of him thinking too much too.

Bosco: See, see, see! I told you that I’m thinking too much (& gave himself a slightly small knock on the head.)

-Early in the morning-

Michelle Yim: Wake up Bosco! It's time to wake up.

Bosco: Mum, its still early, maybe another…

Michelle Yim: Would you just wake up Bosco! Otherwise you will be late for your lesson! You have less than half an hour to get ready for your class, remember?

Bosco: Oh no! Oh no! I totally forgot about school, have I bought my books with me? Yes, my books! Where is it? Oh no!

Michelle Yim: Calm down! Stop running around like crazy now, the books are on the table packed already. Look at you, get yourself dressed, then for breakfast lah!

Bosco got himself dressed, rushing in and out of his room for getting ready, as it was his first term for school.

Bosco: Have I left anything? No! All my books are with me. Bye mum! (& zoomed out of the house)

Michelle Yim: Sigh! Look at him! 27 years old, and still like a big kid. (Shaking her head)
_________________________________________________________________________

Weeks and months have passed, Bosco had been extremly busy revising for the pass months, he had tried really hard, harder than before in order to get the scholarship. However, he kept asking himself, if he really needs the scholarship, and if it is really worth it. Bosco also asked himself many times, if he had truly loved the Emperor’s daughter or from what Tavia had said, he just admired her beauty.

On the other hand, Tavia was busy helping Michelle Yim in Phoenix Village, as Chris had gone with Natalie to a far away place, and Bosco is busy revising for his important exam, so the shop is lack of workers. Tavia even forgot what her mission was for coming down to the human world, all she cares about now is helping Michelle Yim in the restaurant, and to make the business rise.

Michelle Yim: Do you need to take a rest Tavia? You have been working all this morning.

Tavia: No I am absolutely fine. (Wiping the sweat on her forehead, using her sleeves.)

Suddenly, someone came rushing in the store saying the school down the road has caught a fire. Although, Tavia doesn’t know the name of the school, however, there is only one school down the road. She was really nervous and also very careless, while she left the restaurant, she dropped the dishes, which the customers ordered onto the floor. Tavia kept running and whispered to herself, no, don’t tell me Bosco is in there. I hope he is safe and tears began to drip off from her eyes to her cheeks.

Finally, the school was infront of her, she opened the door and saw some steam coming out from one of the classroom. Many fire fighters were there, pouring gallons of water, she stormed into the classroom looking for Bosco and kept screaming Bosco, are you in here? Answer me! Tavia recogised the teacher, Bosco’s form tutor breathing in and out of the heavy smoke from the classroom, with a nurse next to him. Tavia tried to ask the teacher, where Bosco is now? However, the teacher kept saying “no”, “no”, “no”, and waving his hand.

Tavia was frightened and shook her head, as if the “no” stand for he is dead.

Tavia: No, Bosco isn’t dead yet, you must be lying. (She couldn’t help herself and started crying). Where is his body?

Bosco: Tavia! Are you ok? I’m here.

Tavia:(Her face facing downwards) No, you are not Bosco! Huh? That voice sounds familiar? (& started to look up)

Tavia looked up and to his surprise it was Bosco. She couldn’t help herself, but hugged him. Then afterwards, started hitting him hard on the shoulder.

Bosco: Ouch, what was that for?

Tavia: I thought you were dead just now! The teacher just answered no, no no. By the way, where were you? Why did you make me worry?

Teacher: When I was saying no….no…no…I meant, he didn’t turn up for the lesson today, sigh!

Tavia: Awww…that’s it? Chey~~ Where did you go then Bosco? Shouldn’t you be in lesson?

Bosco: Yes! Well…I forgot to bring….my books…yes…books to the lesson this morning, so I had to run back home and get it.

Tavia: Hmm…really? I hope you are not trying to go on torrent? Your mum will be very upset.

Bosco: Don’t be silly, of course not. Anyway, you better head off to help my mum in Phoenix Palace, as you have just gone on strike.

Tavia: Hey! If it wasn’t you, would I rush here! Wait! Oh no, I dropped the dishes, aww!! (& ran out of the school)

While Tavia headed back to Phoenix Palace, Bosco helped to tidy up the classroom, as it wasn’t burnt that badly, just needs a few days for fixing. He also thought to himself why he told this lie and why he cares about it.

-Flashbacks-

Bosco: Yes! Finally, I wouldn’t be late for my lesson, all my books prepared. (Bosco went to his waist, where he puts his wallet and valuable there.) Oh no, where is my….my jade butterfly charm? Aww…must have left it at home! (Bosco rushed back and indeed it was there by his bedside.) Oh no, I’m late now!

-End of flashback-

Bosco: Don’t tell me I have fallen in love with….No, that just can’t be! It must be that I am….treating this jade butterfly as a lucky charm. Yes, that’s right!
