Tavia’s sleep was once again interrupted by a loud banging noise on her door. She opened her door to find Ray and Qian standing in front of her. Ray looked like he was crying, and Qian, she just looked confused. Ron also came out from his room at the same time.
“What’s going on?” Ron asked.
Handing the letter to Tavia, Ray spoke softly.
“Tav, I think you should read this.”
Looking at the letter then back at Ray’s sorrowful face; Tavia couldn’t help but felt scared. Slowly she reached for the letter in Ray’s hand and began reading it aloud. The letter read:
For my lovely children, Ray and Tavia,
First of all, I want to say sorry for leaving you two. I know that my health will fail me, and I have prepared for this everyday of my life. But there are things that I cannot leave behind, and that is you two. It breaks my heart to think that from now on my precious children will go on into society as orphans. But orphans or not, I want you two to live your life to the fullest. Always held your head up high and never let anyone look down on you. Tavia, my precious angel; you have brought so many laughter into my life. You are the daughter that every mother wants. But I was lucky enough to have you. I know you are a strong independent woman, don’t let anything bring you down. Ray, my pride and joy; you are my first born and I love you for that. Remember, there are things in life that you can’t control. So don’t give up on your dreams because of them. I know you love to sing and perform. I want you to fulfill your dream; I know you will make it big. Just remember to dedicate your first song to your mother. All in all, just know that I will be watching you guys in heaven. When you feel that there is no hope, remember that you still have me as your guardian angel.
With all my love,
Mom
“Where? Where did this letter come from?” Tavia asked while crying her hearts out.
“I found it behind the nightstand in your mom’s room,” Qian, who is also crying, answered.
“Thank you, thank you Qian.”
Tavia went over and gave Qian a hug of appreciation. The girls began cry on each other’s shoulder.
Ray couldn’t help himself but cried also. He had always thought that his mom left without saying good-bye. But now, with this letter, Ray found himself a sense of closure toward his mother’s death.
“It’s going to be alright,” Ron said as he was patting Ray’s back.
The house was as silent as the night outside. After their crying session, Ray and Tavia went back to their room and had a dream about their mom.
