Hero watched and smiled, “I guess Hebe; you really do love him a lot. So much that it might be impossible for you to ever love me the same way but I am happy for you. At least I know you are happy and at least I can catch a glimpse of you every day. I will be happy with that.”
Suddenly, Gui Gui came running in from the entrance and she harshly pulled Aaron away. With that she slapped Hebe hard across the face, Hebe who could not see anything banged across the wall and winced in pain.
“How dare you hug my husband!” yelled Gui Gui grumpily with her hand still having contact with Aaron’s arm.
Aaron angrily pushed her hand off him, “You bitch! I am not your husband! I haven’t even said “I do”. Forget about the marriage! I will never ever marry a greedy witch like you! The only one I like is Hebe!”
Hero rushed over to Hebe and helped her up. Due to the sudden blindness, Hebe was not used to everything; her body was shaking since she was scared.
She didn’t know what is happening around her.
She didn’t know who was with her at the moment.
Gui Gui’s angry face quickly turned to a face that will make people feel sorry for her.
Tears began soaring down her face.
“What do you mean Aaron? What did I do wrong?” asked Gui Gui.
“You know better than anyone! What you have done to Hebe and what you have made me do to Hebe will never be forgiven!”
“What are you talking about Aaron? I never did anything!” explained Gui Gui innocently.
Wu Chun charged up to them and added, “Stop lying! We saw everything! We know everything!”
“What everything? There was nothing! I did nothing!” continued Gui Gui denying her actions.
“GOSH! GUI GUI ENOUGH! I HAD ENOUGH! Leave me ALONE! I DON’T WANT TO SEE YOU EVER! EVER! AGAIN!” yelled Aaron pushing her aside.
“Aaron…I can explain….I can explain everything…” stuttered Gui Gui afraid of the sudden change in him.
“LEAVE! I don’t want to hear a THING about you!” rejected Aaron.
“AARON!” pouted Gui Gui pulling on his sleeves.
“LEAVE! THIS IS THE LAST TIME I AM SAYING THIS! LEAVE RIGHT NOW!” ordered Aaron.
“No Aaron…Aaron…”cried Gui Gui holding onto his arm.
“You heard him, Shoo!” exclaimed Chun pushing her off Aaron and pulling her to the exit.
“NO AARON! Aaron…I can explain!” screamed Gui Gui.
“SHUT UP! Just leave!” yelled Chun.
“HEBE TIAN! YOU WILL GET IT FROM ME!” threatened Gui Gui as she gave her a glare, which she definitely didn’t see, and marched off.
Aaron gave a sigh of relief when she left and looked at Hebe who just stood emotionlessly in Hero’s arms.
“Hero, I’m tired, I want to go back to my room” cried Hebe in a shaky voice.
“Ok then, I’ll take you back there!” said Hero guiding her away from everyone.
Aaron looked at her, why didn’t she ask him to take her back to his room?
Why after Gui Gui came, everything seemed to suddenly change?
“What does this mean? I’m so confused…when I saw Gui Gui, a wall just seemed to appear between us…is everything going to work out easily? Hebe…I’m sure I love you but, why is it so hard for us to work out? What’s wrong? Is it really that hard for everything to go smoothly?” thought Aaron as he saw Hebe walk back to her room.
“Aaron…I’m sorry. I don’t know what’s with me but once I heard Gui Gui’s voice. I felt really helpless and scared. I must be scared she will take you away from me but I guess I don’t know how to face it. Give me some time Aaron. Please. I’m sure when I get used to the sudden change in the environment, I will be able to answer all your questions” thought Hebe while she held onto Hero’s arm.
Is love really that complicated?
Why when two people already confessed, why is it still so hard for them?
As night took over, Hebe was left alone in her hospital room.
Hero, Aaron, her auntie and even Chun offered to stay with her for the night however she rejected every one of them politely. She needed time for herself, by herself. Everything was happening too fast. Too fast that she doesn’t know how to face it. The hours ago she was just thinking about what will happen between Aaron and her, but has she thought about her eyes?
How her life will be changed because she lost her eye sight?
The difference in her coming life.
How difficult will it be to continue her journey?
Slowly Hebe sat up from her bed in the moon lit room and felt her eyes that were bandaged.
A sudden feeling of pain gushed over her.
She suddenly felt so gloomy and terrified.
Terrified in the world of darkness.
She didn’t even know if the room had the lights on or off, she didn’t know who might be in her room.
How will she be able to continue her job as a caretaker when she can’t even take care of herself?
How will she be able to work for her living?
Hebe was suddenly afraid to face everything.
Afraid of the obstacles in front of her.
“Why…” began Hebe, “Why me? Why is everything happening to me? What have I done wrong? What did I do to deserve this?”
“I don’t want this! I don’t want to be blind! I want to see again! I want to do things I could before!” cried Hebe sadly.
Angrily she unrolled the bandage around her eyes and tried opening them to see. As she opened her eyes, she hoped there will be light; she hoped she could see around the room. If it was lit by moonlight, she hoped to see the moon, if it was lit by a lamp, she hope to see the lamp however…all she saw…was a patch of black.
Opening her eyes or closing her eyes was the same.
She would only be able to see the color…
black.
“No…no…please tell me it’s just a dream…” mumbled Hebe as she shook through her tears.
She felt her bed, her face, her arms.
She could only feel things, smell things, hear things, taste things but she can’t see things anymore.
“It can’t be….this can’t happen!” cried Hebe desperately as she closed and opened her eyes, hoping the next time she opened her eyes she would be able to see.
She suddenly heard someone whispering her name, “Hebe…” came a voice.
“Who’s that?” questioned Hebe as she sat still with her eyes red and swollen.
“Hebe…I…” continued that person however he just doesn’t seem to be able to make out the words he wanted to say,
“What do you want!” challenged Hebe afraid of him.
In a second, she found herself in the embrace of someone.
She struggled in it however that person just held on tighter,
“LET ME GO!” yelled Hebe shoving and pushing him.
“Hebe…” whispered that person again.
This time, Hebe could make out who it was.
She recognized his voice, it was Aaron.
“Aaron?” exclaimed Hebe, stopping her struggling.
“Sorry Hebe…” was the next thing she heard from him.
Hebe didn’t respond, she didn’t know what to say,
“Hebe, I’m sorry for everything I have done to you. It’s my fault that you’re in a state like this. Hebe, let me help you through all this, let me be the one to stay with you through all the upcoming obstacles. Please Hebe, let me in your life again!” cried Aaron as she hugged Hebe tighter.
“Aaron…I don’t know…It’s going to be tough. It’s not going to be as easy as it looks. I don’t want to annoy you anymore. I didn’t think before I said the things at the hall. I shouldn’t have told you how I felt. Aaron, I don’t want to be a helpless and weak person in your eyes. I don’t want you to be with me because you pity me!” explained Hebe as she pushed him away.
Aaron held onto her shoulders and explained, “Hebe, I like you because I truly do not because I pity you. I’m helping you because I love you not because I pity you!”
“No Aaron! You will understand soon! At first you will do all the best to just try to help me but as time moves on you’ll find me annoying! I don’t want you to kick me away like how you did before! I don’t want to be hurt again!”
Aaron once again pulled her into a tight hug and told her, “Hebe I won’t! I promise I will never leave you again like last time!”
“But Aaron…I’m don’t deserve you! You deserve a perfect girlfriend, not someone…someone that…someone that is blind…” said Hebe mumbling the last words however Aaron could still hear her.
“Hebe…who I deserve is up to me. I choose who I want to be with! No matter how hard you try to push me away I won’t leave you! Hebe! I’m the one that doesn’t deserve you!”
“Aaron…I…”
“Hebe, listen to me! Let me stay with you for the upcoming journey. Let me be the angel that takes you away from your path with the devils” continued Aaron as he pulled Hebe away from him and looked at her pale face.
Hebe didn’t give him any response; she didn’t want to trouble Aaron. She didn’t want to increase his responsibility in life.
Aaron didn’t wait for her response but crashed his lips against hers.
Hebe gave a little scream due to the sudden move but didn’t stop him.
Aaron slowly wrapped his arms around her shoulders and pulled her closer to him while Hebe placed her hands on his chest.
After a while, Aaron pulled away from the kiss but didn’t let go of Hebe. She stayed in his embrace with her head lying on his shoulders.
“Hebe, can you give me a chance?” asked Aaron softly.
Hebe smiled and nodded her head which made Aaron smile and hug her tightly.
They both knew very well it will be hard to begin their next stage of life.
Hebe’s eyes will be a trouble for Hebe and a worry for everyone else but they were also sure that, with each other, they will be able to overcome it.
