Just a moment ago, seeing JiHoo come out of the bathroom carrying HanYoung whose eyes were red and puffy like she just cried, GaEul had made her way towards JiHoo and had asked what had happened. All she got was a reply saying that sand got into HanYoung’s eyes and so she cried. GaEul took it with a pinch of salt but let it slide.
Now, she knew for sure that something was amiss between the two best friends and JiHoo sunbae was keeping it from her. JanDi felt the same way. Usually, JiHan would scream and shout like his father when he saw a bug and not just stare at his feet like just now. Something was seriously wrong.
“Ah, HanYoung, JiHan, are you all hungry? Are you ready for lunch?” JunPyo called out to the two kids as he let out another howl of laughter at some stupid joke WooBin just told him.
JanDi glared at her husband, not believing his immaturity.
“Ah, yeh, I was actually done with the cooking even before you guys came back,” JiHoo said, trying to lighten the air in the room as he caught JanDi glaring at JunPyo and a bewildered JunPyo staring at JanDi.
“Huh? You cooked lunch? It is edible? Remember the last time?” JunPyo asked, peeling his eyes from a still glaring JanDi to look at JiHoo, not believing what he had just said.
“Oi, excuse me! I learnt how to cook, okay?” JiHoo retorted as he punched JunPyo’s arm.
As a result, ten minutes later, F4 and their families were gathered under the chandelier in the Yoon family’s dining room and seated around a table which was creaking under plates piled high with food despite it being made out of sturdy oak wood. HanYoung and JiHan were seated together and though JiHan kept stealing glances at HanYoung, HanYoung was resolutely refusing to look his way or even speak to him. This just further depressed JiHan.
The two mothers looked at each other, knowing that both of them were thinking about the same thing.
“So, let’s start eating!” WooBin exclaimed as he first served Grandpa Yoon a huge serving of shepard’s pie then served himself. He dug his fork and knife into it and took a huge bite.
!*CHOKE*!
“Oh My God! Yoon JiHoo! What is this!?! It’s so salty!” WooBin coughed and spat the shepherd’s pie out onto his plate then took a huge gulp of water and gasped for air. Everyone looked at him and the half –chewed shepherd’s pie on his plate, disgusted.
“Aren’t you overreacting?” GaEul asked as she began to take a small bite of her shepherd’s pie. The moment the wretched thing touched her tongue though, she winced and excused herself to the toilet.
By now, everyone was really curious as to how bad JiHoo’s cooking could really be to even turn off the once-a-commoner GaEul and all reached for some food.
JunPyo reached for the Bulgogi.
JanDi reached for the Baek Kimchi.
YiJung reached for the Japchae.
Grandpa Yoon just scooped a small portion of the shepherd’s pie in front of him. He had never tasted his grandson’s cooking before.
HanYoung scooped a portion of the Kimchi Bokgeumbap just in front of her.
JiHan used his fork and took a small portion of the Nakji Bokkeum which was also in front of him.
WooBin refused to eat anymore and was busy drinking cup after cup of water. JiHoo on the other hand was refusing to eat because he couldn’t believe that his cooking was that bad. GaEul wasn’t even at the table to eat anymore. HyungWoo couldn’t even eat anything on the table and had to wait for his mother to come back and feed him baby food. Yet, he was the only one still so lively, bouncing on his chair alone and humoring himself.
All of them began to put the food in their mouths, bracing for what even GaEul found to be unacceptable. Yet, what arrived was worse than they had expected. Across the table, JiHoo was staring at his own Grandfather who had even joined in the mass retching of food. JunPyo and JiHan were cursing. WooBin gave them all an I-told-you-so look.
JiHoo reached for one of the Sundae in front of him and took a bite. He winced as he painfully and forcefully swallowed it down his throat. He lifted and waved his hands in surrender. It was severely burnt on the underside and raw on the top.
“That was so bad…” he muttered to himself, his eyes watering.

Well, fro information on the food mentioned, go to http://www.lifeinkorea.com/food/menu.cfm . Yes, that was where I got the names of the food from. I’ve never tried any of them expect for the bulgogi and to tell the truth, when cooked properly (not in the Yoon JiHoo way,) it was absolutely heavenly! Ah…
