Chapter 20

She ran away

“HanYoung ah! HANYOUNG!” WooBin yelled as he searched around the corner of the road frantically, at the same time, clutching JiHan’s hand so tightly and dragging him along, afraid that he would also run away like what HanYoung did.

“HanYoung ah! HanYoung!” JiHan screamed too, tears brimming in his eyes.

“HanYoung! Come out! Please!” JiHan coughed and choked on his words. Tears were now flowing freely as his heart pained at the apparent loss of his childhood friend. He had no brothers or sisters and had no one to play with all day long. The maids were no fun to play with. His mother, he loved her, but she wasn’t any fun like HanYoung. HanYoung was the only person he ever really befriended. Somehow, he just didn’t connect with the others kid of his own age. She the one and only person who made his dull world come alive. Furthermore, they had been best friends since the day they were born and he didn’t know what he would do if she would never come to play with him again. She was like the really close, caring sister he never had. JiHan wailed now.

“JiHan, come on, let’s go get help,” WooBin finally relented after searching for the missing HanYoung for about half an hour as he carried JiHan into his arms and wiped his tears. WooBin himself was so worried that his heart rate reached 120 bpm. He couldn’t really think anymore and he was only purely concerned with searching for HanYoung.

Before rushing back, WooBin dialed a number on his phone and demanded his right-hand man to order everyone to search for HanYoung or they would all die. JiHan continued to cry and wail on his shoulder.

Around the corner, HanYoung was sulking away and walking further and further away from the two worried men.

“Bwoh!?! You lost HanYoung!?!” GaEul screamed hysterically. Tears of worry immediately rolled down her porcelain smooth cheeks as she collapsed to the ground, shaking and crying.

“How could you loose HanYoung!?!” YiJung raged. He turned red with anger as his heart pained tremendously like he had gotten stabbed there. Suddenly, he lunged at WooBin with full force and would have torn him into tiny edible pieces had he not been held back by both JunPyo and JiHoo.

“I’m sorry! I- She- I- I’m sorry…” WooBin could only mumble.

“Let me go! LET ME GO!” YiJung ordered his friends but they ignored him.

“YiJung! Calm down! Calm down!”

“I can’t! He lost my HanYoung! My HanYoung!” YiJung cried as he pointed at WooBin and attempted to tear his to pieces again. It took all of JiHoo and JunPyo to hold him back. Anger was giving him extraordinary strength.

“HanYoung ah!!” GaEul screamed once more as JanDi and HwangBo tried to console her in vain.

“YiJung! He lost our HanYoung! HanYoung!!!!” GaEul wailed louder as she cried again. Her wail woke HyungWoo up. He sensed the sadness in the atmosphere and also wailed together with his parents. Grandpa Yoon tried to make him quiet and rocked him. He too was shocked at the news, but did not take it that hard because he also experienced the same thing when his own son ran away from home. His heart ached, but he was cool as stone.

YiJung soon became tired and he too collapsed to the ground. He pulled GaEul close to him while they hugged and she cried over their missing daughter. He wanted to cry too, but he was a man, a husband and a father. He was the head of the household and the heads of the households must never cry, no matter the situation. Their job is to be the pillar of strength for all family members. They cannot show any signs of weaknesses at all, no matter the time, place or situation.

“WooBin, JiHoo, let’s go find HanYoung,” JunPyo said.

“I’m coming too,” HwangBo volunteered.

“Me too,” JanDi said firmly.

“I’m coming too, she my daughter,” YiJung stated.

“Mine too,” GaEul said as she tried to stand up but fell back down almost immediately. She was too weak due to worry and crying.

“No, GaEul, you’re too weak. You should stay here and look after Haraboji and HyungWoo,” said JanDi.

“But she’s my daughter!” GaEul cried. “I want her back! I want to look for her!”

GaEul tried once more to stand up but fell down again.

“GaEul, I’ll find her. I’ll find out daughter,” YiJung reassured her as he turned around and ran for the exit to find HanYoung.

As he did so, a tear fell, down his face.

Oh really, what a depressing chapter...
I really felt like crying while writing the chapter.
Please excuse me while I go cry in a corner... *sobs*
