Chapter 23

YiJung and GaEul's story

“HanYoung! HanYoung ah! Appa is here! Where are you?!” YiJung yelled as he searched the whole street frantically.

Some passersby also looked around. However, after a moment, when they couldn’t find any child who remotely looked lost, they left it as it is and continued walking past YiJung. Some girls recognized YiJung and really tried harder to look for HanYoung just to get into his good books. Yet, after a while, they too gave up. After all, even if they did find HanYoung, they still wouldn’t be able to get YiJung which was who they wanted. He was married. Not that that was considered an obstacle to them at all, but it was the fact that he was so devoted to his wife and refused to look at any other lady that made them see that they had no future with YiJung. If one seriously thought about it, one would think that it was weird. Perhaps it was the event that happened two years ago which changed him.

-oOo-

Two years ago, at Seoul’s most famous pub, YiJung had gone there to drink a few beers and relax. Then, since it was filled with many pretty looking, sexily clad, young ladies and it was convenient, our Casanova decided to flirt a little and turn on his charms. He moved to the nearest one and lightly brushed her cheeks with his fingers as he flashed his killer-smile at her. He had gone on to ask who she was, and where she came from while moving closer and closer to her than he already was. When asked about his wife, he simply replied that she was at home minding the kid. He even went on to say that she was so innocent that she wouldn’t even have thought that he was doing this. He then went on to perform his 5-second kill on the unknown young lady.

Unfortunately for him, GaEul was just behind him, wanting to tell him that HanYoung was sick with a high fever. She cried silently upon seeing her husband’s betrayal of their marriage. She went there worried and almost crying over HanYoung’s matter but went away crying because of her husband’s betrayal.

GaEul covered her tear stained face and ran out of the pub into the dark night, but not before YiJung noticed and followed her, pushing through the crowd which slowed him down and made the distance between him and her wider. When she ran out, she headed to the nearest park and began to sob her heart out on a bench under a tree. YiJung soon got out of the park too, but by the time he did so, he couldn’t find her. He went all over the place, searching high and low for her, but because she was covered from view by the leaves and branches of the shady tree, he couldn’t find her. He decided to go home and wait for her to return. Yet, she never did until six months later.

The next evening, he woke up from his restless sleep. The servant had brought him the day’s letters. He searched through them and tossed those unimportant ones away but stopped when he came to an envelope without a stamp. He ripped it open, only to find a divorce letter and a small note stained with tears and written in a familiar but shaky handwriting.

“I can’t take the hurt anymore. Let’s divorce.” It said.

He tore the letter into tiny pieces and threw it into the fire as he let out a yell and stomped his feet. HanYoung came into the room at that moment and saw what her father looking absolutely murderous and it scared her. She ran out and into the arms of her babysitter, crying and wailing.

From then on, YiJung drowned himself in alcohol (again) and fell into a depressed state, creating trouble everywhere, even at his own parent’s home. It pained WooBin too see his friend return to his horrible state. JanDi was not sympathetic with him at all and had sworn to be his worst enemy, forcing JunPyo not to see YiJung for that whole period. JiHoo, meanwhile, was trying to cure his grandfather.

YiJung became moody and temperamental. The slightest thing could set his in-built bomb off. His art pieces all looked sad and depressed. Some of them were even slipshod work. Sometimes, he didn’t even do work at all. What got him through this hell was HanYoung. They would cry and hug each other when he was home and when they missed GaEul, which was practically almost everyday. From then on, he developed a soft spot for her and she became the apple of his eye.

Three months of hardship later, due to JunPyo’s wealth and influence, GaEul was found working, back in the same kindergarten she used to work in before she got married, teaching pottery to young kids.

It took yet another 2 months for YiJung to win back her trust with his sincerity because even though she loved him, she couldn’t trust him totally, given his past and regular late nights out. Also, after that incident, she totally lost her trust in him and stopped believing his promises, whether empty or sincere.

It was finally five and a half months after GaEul ran away when she finally returned home, to the delight of the servants, F3, JanDi and especially HanYoung and YiJung who threw a party to celebrate her return. That special day marked the new start of their marriage and was also the day when HyungWoo was created. (A/N: *wink* You get what I mean, don’t you? I’ll feel so awkward writing it down…)

“HanYoung ah! HanYoouunngg!!” YiJung shouted as tears of panic which were held back were finally released and they rolled down his cheeks continuously.

“HanYoung! Where are you!?!” YiJung sobbed uncontrollably as he dropped into a bench while HwangBo consoled him and while JiHoo continued asking for HanYoung’s whereabouts.

“YiJung, we can’t find her. Let’s report it to the police and go home. It’s late now, we can find her tomorrow,” JiHoo suggested after a while.

YiJung, not knowing what else to do, allowed his friend to lead him away.

*Grin* You must’ve been asking why YiJung was so devoted to GaEul huh?
He was, after all, a player and you know that people’s characters never change easily, right? I answered your question today. *Smirk*

Aish, why am I so smug about it?
