GaEul sprang up and sat upright from her position on her bed. Beads of perspiration had formed at the side of her face and tears were brimming in her eyes. GaEul turned to look at the clock on the small table beside her. It read ‘7:00 pm’. Her eyes then searched the room for any hint of YiJung which ended with a sorely disappointing result. YiJung was not back and it was getting dark. Linking these two factors together, GaEul easily came to a conclusion that HanYoung had not yet been found. Clutching the blanket that was protecting her from the winter cold and pulling it to her face, GaEul buried her face in it and started to cry and sob.
Was the nightmare true? She desperately hoped that it wasn’t at all. Would she never see HanYoung again? Would HanYoung leave her forever? Was her poor HanYoung freezing out there and fighting against the harsh treatment of the cold winter wind in the streets alone while she, the mother, stayed at home and cuddled in her warm blankets? Would she never be allowed to raise her daughter up to see her grow into a healthy young woman who would then settle with a nice man and start her own family? Would she lose her first born?
Thinking about these made GaEul feel even more depressed and she cried harder and harder. Being alone in a large empty room was no comfort either.
Just then, she heard the door of a car slam. Raising her head and hoping to hear some excited squeals and yells or any other sound which would signify that HanYoung had come home, GaEul was sorely disappointed yet again when all she heard was the sound of shuffling feet which was getting louder and louder, which meant that YiJung had returned from his futile search and was feeling dejected. Deciding not to let him see her in such a horrible state and thus cause him more pain, GaEul lied back down on her bed and pretended to sleep. Yet, those tears would not stop.
“GaEul, GaEul, Jagiya,” YiJung whispered. He was sitting on the bed and was right next to GaEul. He stroked her hair then moved away the hair covering her face.
“GaEul, you can’t fool me. I know that you’re awake,” he said while pulling her up into a sitting position then pulled her into a half-embrace while she simply continued crying on his shoulder. YiJung patted her head and rocked her gently while he kissed the top of her head. He then tried to persuade her to go out to eat, saying that he had bought something good. GaEul declined, saying that she was not hungry at all.
“Hajiman, anae, if you don’t eat, then I can’t give you my surprise,” YiJung whined.
“What surprise? I only want my HanYoung,” GaEul replied.
“Well, you will know what it is after you’ve eaten everything that I’ve bought,” YiJung persuaded.
“Araso,” GaEul sniffed and gave in after much insistence by YiJung that she eat her dinner.
Supported by YiJung, GaEul walked out of the room and towards the kitchen where she was greeted first by WooBin who was standing right smack in the middle of the entrance to the kitchen and then by JiHoo who was sitting on one of the dining chairs and reading the day's newspaper.
“Annyeong, SunBae,” GaEul greeted them back though she was a little surprised by their presence. Was this the surprise YiJung was telling her about? It didn’t feel like it was. The surprise should be something else.
“GaEul, I hope that you will have a wonderful dinner,” WooBin smiled then swiveled ninety-degrees and extended one hand to direct her attention to the centre of the kitchen. At the very same time, JiHoo kept the paper and looked at her, also with a smile.
“Omma!”
Standing in the middle of the kitchen and next to the table on which stood a bowl of piping hot porridge was HanYoung who was all washed up and clean. It didn’t look like she had suffered at all. GaEul simply stared at the girl, not comprehending the situation. Who was that? Was that really her HanYoung? Or was she hallucinating or still dreaming?
“Omma!” HanYoung yelled again and ran to hug her mother’s legs.
She could feel it. The girl was hugging her legs. She wasn’t dreaming nor hallucinating. It was real.
“HanYoung! HanYoung! Oh, my baby!” GaEul pulled her in and hugged and squished and kissed her all over. She then started to beat her.
“Omma! Omma! Bweh!?!” HanYoung screamed while dodging her mother’s beatings.
“GaEul! Stop! Stop!” WooBin exclaimed while attempting to protect HanYoung.
“HanYoung, you bad girl! You idiot pahbo! Come back here! If you wanted to leave this place why did you come back?! Go away!” GaEul screamed.
YiJung and JiHoo just stared and watched and did nothing. Actually, YiJung wanted to help calm GaEul down and protect HanYoung too, but he remembered that he shouldn’t spoil HanYoung anymore. She should get the punishment that she deserved. On the other side, JiHoo was startled by GaEul’s reaction but then decided that this was her family’s business and none of his and that he should stay out.
“Omma, I don’t want to, I don’t want to! Mianhae, Omma, Mianhae!!!” HanYoung cried and sobbed and ran back to hug her mother while ignoring the pain that came from GaEul hitting her.
“HanYoung, you idiot! You idiot child!” GaEul stopped beating her daughter and cried along with her.
“Omma, mianhae…” HanYoung sobbed.

I’m seriously getting a little bored writing this fan fiction. Don’t the rest of you feel it too? The story’s dying… Argh...
