The script team of Xman asked me if I have would like to create a relationship with any of the regulars on Xman. I chose Chae Yeon Shi. I am not sure why I was so nervous when I first saw her today. On music programs, I do get to see her on stage and back stage, but we never talked, after all, we did not have a reason to.
I stood there quietly looking at nuna, wondering what she felt of the new love line that we are going to have. This is Jong kook Kyung’s last episode before he goes to serve the country. Maybe that is why they allowed me to start a new relationship with her.
“Is there anyone you’ll like to meet here in xman, someone you would like to play games with?” MC Yoo asked
“Chae Yeon shi” I shyly replied. Although this was planned, I was still very shy when I think about expressing my feelings for nuna.
Nuna looked at me when I said her name, and laughed along with the rest when they were making fun of our age differences. We break for the next scene, as all the participants went off to their respective assistants to change into sportswear. Walking to the next shooting venue, I managed to spot Chae Yeon nuna.
“Nuna”
“Hello Seung Gi.”
“I’ll be needing your help in this week’s recording, please let me know if there is anything I can improve on” Not wanting to let her think I am a young punk with no manners, I was very formal and polite with her.
“Not a problem” She smiles “Lets work hard together!”
The schedule for this recording was very hectic, but I felt very enjoyable doing it. Being with nuna is so comfortable; she is usually very quiet, but sometimes playful. To my surprise, she and Jong kook kyung don’t even talk to each other. Hopefully my relationship with her will be different.
Chae Yeon:
Japan Xman special. Xman has become a part of my work life. Initially, I was down for just a few xman episodes to promote my third album. Then I was offered a contract to appear on xman as a regular guest. After my reunion with jong kook oppa, my script has more or less been the same. It is such a pity, that because of all these, I cannot even talk to him comfortably, but maybe that is just me. The Chae Yeon off stage is just so timid and shy. This is his last episode, and our romance can finally end here. It is a good thing that Eun Hye and I are close. She understands that this is all for show.
My new task on Xman is to create a romance with Seung Gi. Seung Gi is like 20? 9 years younger than me, or as the boy likes to put it, 8 years and a month. The last I remembered, he was this high school kid that sung the song “you are my girl” But when I saw him today, he had transformed into a young man. Whatever it is, I shall just do my best on Xman. I downloaded his first album into my mp3 player, and started listening to his songs. It will be useful when we need to interact on stage. I just hope that this romance with Seung Gi will not create more anti fans. Tackling Jong kook oppa’s fans is enough to keep me occupied, I don’t think I can take on another bunch of anti-fans.
The day has finally ended, I guess it went well. Seung Gi is very gentlemen-like, he is very soft spoken and well mannered, what a rare find in youngsters nowadays. Wanting some time alone, I decided to attend this food festival in town. Walking on the cold street, it reminded me of my days in Japan. The time where everyday is a battle, alone fighting the unknown. As I thought about the past, I started tearing a little. I stopped outside this wine store selling different types of sake, and was surprised to find Seung Gi inside. Wanting to avoid him as I was tearing, I turned away and started walking on.
“Chae Yeon Shi” He called out
Reluctantly, I wiped my tears and looked at him. After all, as a Nuna, I should not be rude.
“Are you alone?” He asked with excitement, but his bright eyes soon turn to a frown when he noticed that I had teary eyes.
“I wanted to attend the food festival” I pretended that there was nothing wrong with me, and gave him a smile.
“You could have asked me along! Can I join you nuna?” He looked at me with his puppy eyes that I find very hard to say no to.
Seung Gi:
We finally get an evening off. Remembering that Dad wanted me to get him some sake, I decided to make a trip down to the food festival in town. Looking around the store, not recognizing anything familiar, I tried to engage the shop owner, but he did not speak Korean. I glanced out of the window on the street and saw Chae Yeon Nuna. She should be able to help me. From what I remember, she is fluent in Japanese. I rushed out of the store and tried to get her attention. But when she turns around, my heart sank. She was crying. Did something upsetting happen? Why is Nuna crying? I felt something in my heart that I have never felt before. She looked at me and pretended that nothing was wrong. She gave me the feeling that she does not want to talk about it. I understand that to her, I am just a colleague.
Unknowingly, I asked to tag along. Maybe I can make her happier; I want to make her happier.
We went into the Sake store, and with her help, I managed to purchase a bottle that is supposedly good for health. Like a boyfriend looking at his girlfriend, I looked dotingly at her when she was busy talking to the shop owner. The shop owner must have told her something funny, she was in a really good mood by the time we left the store. We strolled the streets of the food festival, the cold weather did not deter the locals from coming out at night. We joined the crowd in their activities and we were having a great time. Maybe I did make her happier.
“Nuna”
“Yes?”
“Can I call you Yeonie”
“No. u have to call me nuna”
“But Brian calls you Yeon”
“Brian is different, he fools around too much”
“…” I want to be her friend, all of a sudden, I did not want to just be her dongseng.
A group of girls came up to us, with a basket of mini teddy bears. They were speaking to me in Japanese, probably asking me to buy something from them.
“Give them 500 yen” She was smiling at the group of girls.
I paid up and gave her a curious look. Nuna then picked up a little baby bear and thanked the girls. The girls said something else and Nuna burst out laughing.
“What did the girls say?” I asked her as we walked along
“The bears are for charity” she answered without looking at me. All attention was on the little baby bear.
“What else did they say?”
“Can I have the bear?” she ignored my question
I nodded my head
“The girls think you are cute”
“Do you think I’m cute?” I really wanted to know what she thinks of me
“…” She smiled and walked on.
Chae Yeon:
Maybe I don’t look that old after all. Kyung lim keeps telling me to take care of my skin and that I have aged a lot since she first met me. The girls who were selling charity bears actually thought that Seung Gi is my boyfriend. They even said I have good taste and that I’m so lucky. It is funny… I shall treat it as a compliment then…
“Do you think I’m cute” he asked
I chose to not answer him.
