That day finally came, I saw her arriving with Kelly, her assistant. She seems shocked to see me at the airport. Don’t you like surprises my dear? I took out all courage and approached her. She was still stunned, as she stood there starring at me with no expression on her face. I greeted her assistant and pulled her away to a corner.
“I missed you” I said as I picked up her icy hands and kissed it. She retracted her hand and stepped back.
“Don’t you miss me” I gave her a hurting look, and grabbed her hands again.
“What are you two doing? Its time to go” Kelly came and brought her away. Nuna left with Kelly, but she turned her head back and looked at me.
I got on the plane, knowing that I’ll find her sitting on the seat beside mine. When I saw her, she didn’t seem that shocked anymore. She probably learnt from Ha-ha hyung that I am attending this episode.
“You don’t have anywhere to go to, you might as well stay put beside me” I said to her
“I don’t intend to go anywhere, but can we change seats? I’m afraid of heights” My silly girl was actually more worried about the plane journey than me sitting beside her.
After we settled down, I took out a bracelet I bought for her, and put it on her wrist. I held on to her hand the entire take-off.
“I received your letters” She finally said something
“I didn’t know if you’ll get to read them, but it was the only way I could keep myself sane” Being with her is just so different. No matter what we do, or what situation we are in, I feel very comfortable and happy with just her beside me. I told her about what I have been up to, and hinted to her that Mr. Kim’s visa was partly my doings.
“It is good for him, he needs to spend some time with his son” She laughed it off.
“Did you think of me?” I took her cap off. She does look very different without make up. But she is still as beautiful.
“Seung Gi, you know we cannot be together”
“I just know that I love you”
“No one will think that we are compatible”
“Why does it matter what others think? What matters is we love each other”
“Seung Gi, the world does not just consist of the 2 of us. There are many people who care for us, love us, they are all important as well”
“I can give you happiness”
“I don’t want your happiness. I hope that we can be able to remain like friends, can we?” She looked at me with her sad eyes. I have never said no to her, it is just something I cannot do. When it comes to her, there’s only love.
“I won’t force you to do anything you don’t wish to. But you cannot stop me from loving you. This episode that we are recording, treat it as a present for me, alright?” I didn’t want to argue with her. I just need her to give me a chance, and I won’t ruin it by spoiling our relationship.
Chae Yeon:
Seung Gi is back on Xman. I don’t understand why, but he seems to get his way around things pretty much everytime. He hinted that Kim’s visa denial was his doing. Although its bad, but I think its funny. Maybe I do need some discipline. I am actually a little happy that Seung Gi is here when Kim is not around. I am such a horrible person.
I hate taking airplanes; well I don’t mind them that much if I stay away from the windows. But it is very boring to be on one. The journey to Hainan was just about a few hours. Seung Gi was sitting beside me, what a coincidence. Or maybe he planned it as well. I tried to tell him that he should not have any hopes of us being together, the same reasoning that I used on myself. But he didn’t want to take my words seriously. By the time we got to the hotel, it was close to evening. We will be shooting some night scenes later. Seung Gi danced to our song “Our Meeting” the dance was very cute, it brought me into a good mood.
“Nuna, are you feeling tired tonight?” He turned back and asked me
“Why do you ask?” I questioned him back
“I was wondering if you wanted to have supper together”
“I don’t want to have supper with you” I pushed him to face the front
“Didn’t you want to be friends with me? Supper with friends is alright” He turned around again.
“Don’t give me that, you don’t have any good intentions, I know it” I jokingly replied.
On our last night in Hainan, recording ended early. I was down with a little flu. It must be the rain, the pool, and the hot and humid weather. Feeling unwell, I stayed in my room, cuddled myself in my blanket and watched the TV. I didn’t understand a single thing, but there was nothing else to do. Just as I found a comfortable position, the door bell rang.
“Seung Gi!” He came into the room immediately.
“I brought you some medicines from home, sit down, I’ll get some water for you” He was walking around the room like it was his.
“You shouldn’t be here, you know that” I stood still and watched his every move
“You sick little thing, don’t waste your energy on me, come, open up” As he tried to feed me some tablets.
“You’ll go after I eat them right” I took the pills from him.
“I’ll go when you are well” he switched off the TV
I ate the pills, and tried to call Kelly. Where is that girl. She needs to come rescue me from Sueng Gi. I have no self control!
“Kelly, are you done shopping?” I asked her over the phone
“No.. not really, Onni should go take some rest, I bought this Chinese medicine for you, you can take it tonight” Kelly was more interested in shopping than anything now.
I sat on the couch starring at Seung Gi as he started unpacking some rice.
“You need to eat something”
“I’m not hungry” He brought something. It looked like Chinese fried rice
“I made it myself in the hotel kitchen. So this can be considered home cooked. Come, eat a bit, a bit will do” I was actually impressed, and wanted to try the taste of his cooking. I took the fork and tried a little of the fried rice. It was actually quite tasty.
“Seung Gi, you should go, I’m tired”
“I will go when you fall asleep, I promise” He took the container away from me and kissed my forehead.
I dreamt that I was at the beach with Tae Min Oppa. We walked for while, till we saw Seung gi. Oppa left me with Seung gi and he walked away. He never turned back no matter how I called him. I tried to run to Tae Min oppa but I had no energy. Eventually Seung gi carried me up from the sand. We kept on walking, until we saw mom and dad, Kim, Tei, Kyung lim, and many other people. They didn’t stop, but looked at us with a disapproving eye. Seung gi was holding on to my hand very tightly, telling me not to be afraid, that he will hold on to my hand and walk with me. But after a while, he kissed my hand and let go. I fell onto the sand once again. I woke up in tears…
It was past midnight and it was dead silent. Seung Gi has left, but he left behind a phone and a message.
I wiped my tears off my face and read his note
“Good Morning Sweetie. I hope you are feeling much better. Finish up the medicine on the table. I’m going back to Seoul tonight, but I’m leaving you this phone. Contact No. 1 is your Oppa, me. I hope you can carry it around with you.”
My Oppa? Seung gi is getting from bad to worst. I sent a message to the owner of this phone.
“Oppa? You gave the phone to the wrong girl”
“How is my Yeonie doing? No one knows these two numbers, I got them before we left for Hainan. Its our secret phone, alright?”
“I will return the phone to you when I get back” I switched the phone off.
It was late, but I decided to head down to the restaurant to get some food and some fresh air. I was surprised to see Andy and Haha drinking at the bar
“Chae Yeon! Come join us” Andy waved at me
“Are you feeling better?” They both asked
“Yes, I took some pills and I’m alright now”
“Order something to eat” Andy placed a menu in front of me
“I’ll have the fried rice” I said without looking. The fried rice arrived, it was tasty, but somehow Sueng gi’s version was much nicer.
“So how have you been? You were looking so drained recently. This trip you seem happier” Haha asked
“I’m doing fine, next episode is my last recording, I’m going to start on the preparations of my 4th album.”
“Seung gi’s new album, I’ve heard it, its really good. For such a young boy, he was able to include all these emotions, that is something very remarkable” Andy commented
“He is a very special boy” I smiled
“I didn’t know you guys recorded a song together. Such things are quite rare because of the different companies” Andy persisted on the topic
“That was done a while ago, its just for fun” I tried to end the discussion on Seung Gi
“Before the scandal got big?” this time Haha asked
“Do you like him?” Andy asked
“We can tell he is not just a Dongseng, tell us, have you two been dating?” Haha was like a reporter.
“We’re not dating, I cannot date him, and the more others notice us, the more we cannot be together, so don’t worry, there’s nothing going on, it was never meant to be” I said sadly.
Seung Gi:
Nuna refuse to meet me outside of work. I overheard Kelly asking the reception desk where the nearest pharmacy is. I think Nuna is down with a flu. She didn’t look well today. I sent Mr. Park to get some medication from a Korean family that he knows who lives in Hainan, while I arranged with the hotel to use their kitchen. I wanted to cook something for her. Its not often that this chance is available, especially with Mr. Kim and now Kelly gone.
She looked like a sick puppy when I saw her in her room. After opening the door, she wrapped herself in the blanket, disregarding how she might look in it. The medication took its effects very fast on her. She was sleepy in no time. I think it will be good for her. She hardly has any rest. This should cure her flu. I cleared up the fried rice and found her asleep on the couch. It was such a beautiful sight. I picked her up softly and placed her on the bed. If only I can pack her up and bring her home with me. She looked weak and vulnerable. I covered her well with the duvets and sat beside her. Her hands were icy, as I held them in my hands. I wanted to give her some warmth. I stayed there for almost 2 hours, stroking her hair and kissing her occasionally. It was almost time for my night flight home. I wrote a note and placed it on the side table, before leaving unwillingly.
Things will get better, I promise.
