so, as to what happened to these characters
(leila) tong ling - she eventually marries bosco wong, her senior brother who has always admired her and been there for her. but due to his health, he could not participate in the wedding competition at the time. her father eventually realized that bosco was a very hardworking gentleman who had potential to lead his sect though he may not be the greatest martial artist
(moses) tong man lung remembered that fung still owed him a favor and ten years later, ask fung to kill wong yat wah for him.
after yat wah killed li qian, he hid for another 10 years in seclusion where his hatred towards man lung grew. he practiced martial arts everyday and created some deadly moves. he surpassed man lung in skills and eventually defeated man lung and injure heavily but did not succeed in killing him.
fung completes moses request and kills yat wah. after completing his promise, fung completely retires from the martial arts world.
this will be included in the prologue if i am to ever write it.
li gong (yi's mom) knows she's about to die from her illness (tuberculosis). but before she parts from the world, she takes yi with her to go get her future read.
while yi waits outside the temple, gong gets her stick read. she picks up the stick and as she places the can back, another stick falls out which she misses. the stick she brings back is a stick of misfortune and the fortune teller predicts what when yi reaches adulthood, her life would be one of betrayal and misfortune and much grieving.
after gong left, the fortune teller/stick reader went back to clean the altar and noticed a stick left behind. he picked it up and realized that it was a stick of survival and success. he wonders which stick was actually the right fate for yi.
not knowing about the other stick, gong was depressed but never dared to share it to her daughter for fear of making her feel worse, but yi was able to put together the signs from her mom and knew it was bad.
