“Ms. Chow, as you are probably well informed of, Mr. Lam cannot be bailed out at any amount as he is charged with murder,” Ron said at the end of the questioning.
“I know that, I just need some personal time with Mr. Lam,” Niki said. Ron and Leila collected their voice recorder and sheets of information and left the two in the investigation room.
“How’s Michelle?” Raymond asked again after the two closed the door.
“Actually, I’m not too sure, I left before the ambulance arrive,” Niki said.
“What? She has to be alright…” Raymond paced around the room.
“Ray, Ray, calm down, I’m sure it’s just the shock that caused Michelle to faint,” Niki soothed the anxious guy.
“Damn, I’m such a mess up…” Raymond pounded his fist on the wall.
“Ray, I have no idea what’s going on here,” Niki said.
“It’s…” Raymond began but Niki signaled him to keep quiet, eyeing the camera at the corner of the room.
“I’ll just check on Michelle first. Remember, whatever it is, just shut up if they ask you anything when I’m not around okay?” Niki reminded.
“Let me know after you’ve checked her condition…” Raymond pleaded.

“Are you okay?” Niki asked.
“I’m fine Niki… I just need some rest,” Michelle replied. “How’s Ray’s case?”
“Michelle you need to calm down, the Dr. told us to not let you be over excited, it’s going to be bad for the baby,” Vicki advised seeing Michelle’s emotion unstable again.
“Baby? You’re pregnant?!” Niki squealed with excitement. Michelle smiled weakly and nodded.
“Ow, I’m going to be the first to pinch his cheeks…” Niki exclaimed.
“Niki, don’t you dare. Just because your family does that to you, doesn’t mean my baby has to suffer the same fate,” Michelle said protectively.
Niki pouted but touched Michelle’s tummy. “Oooh, I can feel it!”
“Niki! I’m only two weeks pregnant!” Michelle shook her head at Niki’s exaggeration.
“Ray’s gonna break the cell’s roof when he hears this,” Niki beamed happily.
“Hey guys… I don’t plan let him know first… There’s too much to be worried now. I don’t want him to worry about me as well,” Michelle said.
Her friends nodded in silence.
“How’s Ray’s case?” Michelle asked in concern.
“Mich, can you tell me what is going on? I can’t really talk well not knowing the head and tail of this case…” Niki said.
Michelle opened her mouth to speak but then leaned back and kept quiet again.
“Mich?” Jessica called.
“Don’t…” Michelle begged her friends to stop pestering her. “I… Jess, I need to get out. Can you help me in any way? Jess, you know very well, if I don’t get out of here, it’ll all be too late.”
Jessica nodded and went off to find Dr. Ma to find a way for Michelle to be discharged as soon as possible.

Mo sat back on his arm chair with his two legs propped on his desk.
“Boss, why are you doing this?!” Louis cried throwing the newspaper where Raymond and Michelle’s wedding made headlines on his desk.
“A friend of yours, Louis?” The beefy man asked coldly flicking his lighter to light a cigar.
“Yes, friends of mine!” he cried impatiently at his boss’ attitude.
“You’re beginning to disappoint me Louis…” he said puffing his cigar.
“I asked you to finish them off, not send them to that doctor girlfriend of yours!” Mo replied, anger flashed in his malicious eyes.
“I…” Louis astounded Mo had known. Who the hell betrayed me?!
“It doesn’t matter who betrayed you. But do you understand the consequences of those who betray ME?!” Mo sneered.
Louis clenched both his fists, controlling his boiling aggravation and then stormed out of Mo’s office.

“Mich!” Raymond cried seeing her stepping in the visiting room.
“Hey Ray…” Michelle flashed him her brightest smile.
“How’re you? Are you okay? What did the doctors say?” Raymond asked in arrow.
“Oh, Ray, calm down. I’m just lack of rest. See, I’m fine now aren’t I?” Michelle showed him her brightest face.
“I’m sorry Mich,” Raymond apologized and sighed in frustration.
“Ray, it’s not even your fault!” Michelle said. “I’m the sorry one… I brought all these to you.”
“I don’t care, I just want to help you and protect you… I don’t care of what you ask from me…” Raymond said.
“Well, I’m taking over from Niki now. I’ll be working on your case. Do you trust me?” she asked.
“I trust you with my life…” he said without hesitation.
Michelle smiled and began flipping through the details, advising him what to be said and what not to be said.

“Why are you arresting him only?” Ron asked Kevin suspiciously. “Are you afraid that Niki will mess up for you? If so, I can arrest Michelle on your behalf…”
“You know I don’t bring personal feelings into my work Ron. Besides, Niki have already messed up enough.” Kevin said tiredly.
“Then? You’re letting her loose when she’s the main suspect?!” Ron cried.
“I’m using her as a bait Ron. Louis will never show up if Michelle doesn’t meet him. Remember our main targets are still Louis and his damn boss,” Kevin gritted his teeth at the thought.
“Okay…” Ron said uncertainly.
“Good morning Sir!” Leila came in to greet.
“What now Leila?” Ron asked irritated at her presence.
“I’ve collected all necessary evidence and information. We are ready to apply for the arrest warrant for Michelle!” she said with pleasure, eager to prove to her boss she was useful and definitely has got brains.
“Who ask you to do so?!” Ron barked at her. “Do you not have any other better things to do? No one is arresting Michelle!”
“But… but…” Leila surprised at her superior’s change of thought.
“Can you be a little more helpful and try luring that Louis out of his hiding? Michelle won’t be able to escape anyway. Why are you wasting your time foolishly on her?” he said again.
Leila stared at her boss. Damn you…
“I’m not foolish, Sir!” She cried indignantly at his face, slamming his door shut after her causing Ron to jump.
“That goose…” Ron pointed after her.
“Er… Ron, aren’t you being a little hard on her?” Kevin said, noticing Ron’s bias attitude.
“Hard? That foolish girl is always messing things up for me!” Ron defended.
“I always hear you calling her silly, foolish, and complain non stop. In fact, I’ve never heard you praise or appreciated her before…,” Kevin said.
“I…” Ron started but began reflecting on his attitude.
“Be nice Ron, she’s quite capable though relevantly new and inexperienced,” Kevin patted him on the back before leaving him alone to ponder more.

Ron peeked out from behind the blinds in his office. Leila still looked busy in her cubicle.
Should I apologize? But that’d be so embarrassing… I’m her superior after all. I need some face. Ron debated with himself. Maybe I’ll treat her to a meal. That should be sincere enough as an apology right?
Ron stepped out of his office and walked slowly towards Leila’s cubicle. Leila did not seem to notice him.
A few of his other men walked out of their cubicles ready to go home.
“Bye Lei!” they called out while passing her cubicle.
“Bye, bye seniors!” she waved enthusiastically at them. Then, she returned solemnly to her work.
Ron hurriedly bent down pretending to be tying his shoelace, as they passed.
“That jerk, scolding me everyday!” Leila murmured to herself. “Don’t know what he expects of me. I was sure he had wanted to arrest Michelle. It was written all over his face! And then he denies it. Damn him… Think he’s so cool and all that!” she continuously cursed Ron.
Ron’s face reddened as he listened to her frank expression of opinion towards him. She even slammed her desk once.
“Ouch!” she cried and Ron sprang up from his bent position.
He saw Leila had accidentally punched her fist onto a thumbnail.
“See how careless you are? Silly goose,” Ron went inside her cubicle, and took her palm for examination.
Leila was shocked at Ron’s sudden appearance and wondered if he had overheard her monologue. “Sorry Sir!”
“Sorry? You’re the one hurt. Come on, I’ll put a plaster on it,” Ron took out a cartoon plaster from his wallet and pasted it over her little cut.
Leila felt her face growing hot as Ron’s hand continued holding hers.
“Leila?” Ron asked her. “Are you okay? Your face looks funny…”
“Huh… Oh, I’m fine. Thank you Sir!” She stammered between the flip flops in her stomach.
“Oh please. Stop with all the ‘Sir’. Just call me Ron. It’s after working hours anyway. Come on, let’s go have a meal. I’ll treat you… er… because you hurt your hand while at work,” Ron suggested stupidly.
Leila stared at Ron with her wide eyes. First he plastered my hand. Now he’s treating me a meal… Am I dreaming?
“Coming?” Ron called to Leila who glued to her spot. Leila grabbed her bag and scampered after Ron.
