“Wallace?” Niki was surprise to see him at her doorstep.
“Hie, Niki,” Wallace greeted. “I guess Michelle got lazy of coming over so I decided to come over.”
“Huh?” Niki looked puzzled, but invited him in anyway.
“So, where’s the lazy bum? It’s the hearing this afternoon. I thought she might want to refresh on the case after leaving it all to me for quite few days.”
“What are you talking about? Wasn’t Michelle with you these few days?” Niki asked, starting to worry.
“No, she hasn’t come over since she left on Wednesday morning,” he said frankly.
“I’ve never seen her home. I assumed she came back to bath and change and goes over to your place,” she said even more bewildered.
The two stared at each other, and as wild guesses ran through their mind, their face drained of colors.

Louis pulled his hood over to hide his face. He wondered where Michelle had gone. She had promised to bring food over to avoid him appearing in public in case any of the Mo’s or Hung’s people were around, but she never appeared again after she left him at the apartment on the night of his escape. By the third day, he totally had no news from her, he could almost guess what had happened but he needed to confirm it first.
“Louis?” Niki’s pale face greeted him, confirming his suspect. “What are you doing here?! You…”
Wallace stepped over. “Louis Koo Tin Lok?” he guessed.
“Who are you?” Louis asked.
“I’m Wallace. Michelle told me about you. You shouldn’t be wondering around at this time!”
Niki looked at Wallace and then to the man she had thought was Louis Lai.
“You’re Louis Koo?” Niki asked in confusion.
“Sorry Niki, I’m Koo Tin Lok, but I’ve no time to explain now. Is Michelle missing?” he asked knowingly.
“How’d you know?” they asked him simultaneously.
“I think I know who took her…” he said slowly.
“Mo’s?!” Wallace cried frantically. “We’ve got to find her!”
Louis darted and the two followed his suit.

“Are you sure of this? Why don’t we call the police?” Alec suggested.
“Michelle…” Vicki sounded faint. Tavia supported her.
“We’ve been looking for almost half a day. Ray’s hearing is in an hour. We’ve got to find her fast,” Kenneth said.
“Listen, I know what Mo wants, I can save her. Why don’t all of you go to Ray’s hearing and wait for my news?” Louis suggested.
“No!” all of them shouted, but they did not feel as sure as they sound.
“Listen, Wallace you’ve got to take over Michelle, and you bunch are not helping me. I need to sneak around places. Moving in crowd draws too much attention. Their men are everywhere,” Louis explained.
“No!” Wallace rooted to his decision. “I’m coming with you. God knows what might be waiting!”
He turned to Niki and handed her the thick files of information on Raymond’s case. “Niki, I trust you… All the fighting points are here. You just need to be confident and convince them of what I have pointed and highlighted in this stack. And most of all, just keep calm and remember the bottom line that Raymond never did commit the crime.”
“But… but… I’ve not been following this case! I might lose… This case needs experts like you and Michelle!” Niki stared nervously at Wallace.
“Don’t worry, this case is winning for sure, it doesn’t need me or Michelle to win it. I’ve also tipped Raymond, he’ll do better than he did last time.” Wallace gave her an assuring pat on the back before turning back to Louis.
“And, about the police… please keep that out of your mind. Mo never hesitates to kill,” Louis added grimly.
The rest of the gang stared undecidedly as the two made their way to the rescue.

Michelle slumped over wearily. She had not been eating at all. God knows if the food is poisonous. She was definitely not taking any chances, especially now that she had a precious life growing in her tummy.
Her throat felt dry. With her restricted movements, she had been drinking sparingly. The door of the hut swung open again. Michelle did not bother to look up from her sleeping position.
“Mich!” Louis cried seeing her slumped over the bounded position. For a moment he thought she was dead. Wallace hurried towards her.
“Louis?” her ears pricked up. “Wallace…? You… Why aren’t you at the hearing?!”
“Shhh…” he hushed her. “Niki’s at it. I’ve to come for you!”
He cut her loose, and hurried her up but she was too weak. She had not been eating and was bounded too tightly that her limbs were numb at the position. Wallace and Louis huddled her at each side as she moved weakly.
They crept out as quietly as possible. The two masked man was in another hut nearby. They definitely did not expect anyone. It was about lunch time, and one of the men moved to send over Michelle’s lunch box when he realized that she was gone. The two masked panicked and began searching around.
Holding their breath, the trio ran through the bushes as fast and as quietly as possible.
“There!” One of them spotted Michelle’s bright top bobbing among the bushes.
They no longer bother about being silent and straightened up to run faster but the other two soon caught up. While Louis fought one of them, Wallace and Michelle ran all their might to escape from the other. Huddling together, they ran so fast they could hardly see where they were heading.
The man behind was inching nearer…
Wallace pushed Michelle forward to run on her own…
Michelle heard Wallace fighting the other masked man…
She continued running blindly, thrashing her arms to brush away the branches and leaves in her way…
Louis knocked out his attacker and came after to help Wallace…
Her heart was jumping out of her throat, but she ran still, she must outrun those men…
Michelle suddenly heard Wallace’ aching cry...
She turned to see what happened, but the leaves and branches were in the way…
Her left foot stumbled over a tree’s root causing her to lurch forward…
Her right foot stepped into the air…
Her balance was lost as she flailed helplessly, falling headfirst…
Both Louis and Wallace shouted as they appeared from behind to witness Michelle disappearing over the edge. They raced forward towards the edge, and watched in horror at Michelle who continued rolling down the steep cliff.

END of Chapter
The continuation of this FF is in your hands… (16/06/06, 5pm, GMT+8):
Okay, bet all of you are delighted with the binge of updates and the reason is…
Besides me having a major presentation on Monday, I would also like to take a break from FF (banned myself from addictive writing). Hehe… No worries, just a very SHORT one, probably shorter than most of authors’ update interval. But then you’re (yes all of my readers) are going to determine this break’s length for me. ;P And the catch is…
After what you’ve read so far, can you please describe (leave comments) my FF in ONE word that suits it MOST (negative but sincere ones welcomed). Yes, just ONE word and then you can elaborate on why you chose that word. Oh, don’t forget to mention if you’ve read both WR & WRII or just WR II alone. Yes, I would like to see new nicks pop out too please, though I really, really appreciate those who’ve commented consistently so far *bows in appreciation* I’m doing this to self-reflect before I start my new FF, I hope to improve, and I know I lack the elaborations in my haste for very quick updates so in my future one, I’ll work on it.
Oh, forget to mention, that neither sites will be updated unless both (Winglin and AF) sites gets a reasonable amount of feedbacks. Otherwise people can still read from either sites. Hehe… Yeah, I’m growing horns on my head I know. Thanks heaps and lots. Until then, let’s all hang on to the cliff Michelle rolled down. Tata…
THANKS for support, Byes and wish me luck! :P
