“Ray!” Tavia held him, seeing he dashed out of the hospital. “What’s it? Is it Michelle?!”
Raymond shot her a tearful look then shrugged her off.
“Ray!” Tavia cried after him but he dashed into his car, speeding off.
Tavia looked on exasperatedly, and then reentered the hospital to visit Michelle and Louis.

“I knew I’d find you here…”
Raymond did not bother to look up.
“Ray, what’s bothering you…?” Tavia asked, gently touching his arm.
He gulped down his drink in reply.
“Are you bothered about Wallace?”
Raymond looked at her questioningly. How much does this girl know? “I heard her too…” she confessed.
“Do you know why Wallace left her back in England? He thought… he thinks Michelle’s his sister…” Raymond blurted reluctantly.
“But… but…” Tavia surprised to hear the fact.
“Of course, he missed the fact that he’s adopted… He didn’t let Michelle know,” Raymond explained.
Tavia nodded.
“I didn’t tell Wallace too. Am I being selfish? I’m afraid I’ll lose Michelle…” Raymond turned to Tavia for confirmation.
Tavia shook her head. “You’ve all the right to… You… you love her too much.” Love is about being selfish…
“Do… do you think Michelle loves me?” Raymond asked naively.
“Of course she does,” she forced the words pass her lips. So do I…

Michelle pushed the wheels slowly, stopped to open the door, before pushing herself in. Jessica immediately got up to give her a hand on her wheelchair upon seeing her.
“How’re you doing Jess?” Michelle held her hand. Jessica looked tired and bothered.
“I’m alright,” she assured. “Sorry I didn’t go over to you…”
Michelle shook her head, not minding. “Louis will be fine Jess. Trust him…”
“Michelle…” Jessica propped her head up with her arms.
“Louis is a brave man,” Michelle said. “I had found out his identity the first morning Niki dragged him in, but because it was very risky, I didn’t let you know. Sorry about that Jess.”
“Michelle, I’m so grateful towards you, I don’t know what to say. You were so determined to help him out of Mo’s. And I thought you were afraid of troubles when you rejected me back when I asked for your aid…” Jessica said apologetically.
“I didn’t blame you Jess. I would have thought the same. In actual fact, Kevin and Ron had already confirmed his identity from confidential files they accessed. But because Louis had criminal records, the best was to give him a chance to repent by aiding the police. It was all a setup when Kevin and Ron shouted at him at the station while Niki bailed him out, letting Mo believed Louis was still on his side. Mo has his men everywhere, they had to be careful, so the least people knew, the better it is…”
Jessica nodded, looking at Louis who must have gone through more torments than she would ever realize.
“Louis had suffered a lot during the years he totally lost contact with the police force. I think his mentality was totally jumbled up. When I first met him after his disappearance, he was resorting to drugs to overcome his psychological stress. But the reason he had the strength to fight his way out, Jess, was because of you,” Michelle touched Jessica’s shoulder.
“He put all his faith in you, in the dreams of you and him. You have to believe that he’ll fight this coma to make that dream a reality,” Michelle said encouragingly.
I believe in him… Jessica looked at his eyelids that were as shut as ever.

Michelle sat up in her bed as Niki passed her the letter. She touched her chest, as if trying to feel for the lungs within her. The envelope was not sealed, Michelle took out a sheet filled with beautiful cursive handwriting that she’ll never forget who it belonged to.
“Vicki…” she whispered softly as a hot tear rolled down her pale cheeks.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dearest Sister Michelle,
I’m quite certain that I would have been away for quite some time by the time you read this. But nevertheless I want to congratulate you on your recovery. I am overjoyed wherever I am now. You have no idea what a scare you gave my poor heart when you had that accident at Lam’s Corporation.
Yes, you must be quite surprised, but I had been having this heart problem since young. Dr. Steven is actually my uni-mate from Oxford’s too. I’ve been taking medication from him since I return from England, but I know better that my days are numbered. In fact, it was already a miracle I lived to meet you, and Dad, and believe me it will always remain as the greatest moment of my life. I want to say sorry again for not being frank at that moment about our relationship. It was because I knew I would not live long, thus I did not think there was such a need to clarify it. But I guess fate had better suggestions when all was spilt during the hearing.
When I heard about your punctured lungs, I couldn’t help but feel that it’s God’s call for me. I’ve lived longer than I should and it was time I leave. My condition’s been worsening since your wedding. I thought I would never live to hear you forgive me, but after your kidnap and fatal fall, I was so glad you’ve finally decided to do so. And I would never regret donating my lungs to my dearest sister… I hope you live and breathe well with it.
Michelle, love is the founder of hatred… Hatred is the creator of revenge… Revenge is the birth of evil… I hope you won’t fume over my words… You are more often than not too emotional to be rational. The opposite can be said for me. And neither is good. I guess we have to learn from each other and take the middle path…
Last of all, love with your heart, not with your mind… I think you understand better what I mean. Love has no right and wrong, no first come first serve, no should or should not, it has only love, a feeling so complicated no one will ever be able to clarify the theory behind.
Oh, I must let you know another thing. Daniel is actually my cousin, Fiona’s nephew. I had introduced him to you as a friend because you didn’t know I was your sister yet then. I thought of clarifying everything as this will be the last sisterly chat we’ll share… I wish you all the best.
Love forever,
Vicki

Michelle held the letter close to her heart, weeping.
“I’m so sorry Vicki, I’ve always been too hasty to blame you for everything. I lived with you for so long yet I know nothing of your heart problems… You’ll continue to live with me… Every breath I take in, I’ll remember that it’s because of you that I’ll be able to breath in this sweet scent… Vicki…” Michelle sobbed.
Niki patted Michelle and held her close to her chest. It was already a week since the funeral, but Michelle had just woke up and reading the letter, made Niki overwhelmed with sadness all over again.

Kevin and Niki stepped out of Louis’ room with Jessica.
“How’s the case going?” Jessica finally spoke up.
“We’re nailing Mo finally…” Kevin said. “It was all Louis’ effort. If he did not return to Mo that night after Niki bailed him for the setup, we wouldn’t have easily pinned him down. Mo was furious when he found out his spy was discovered long ago and Louis was sent to take the place of his spy. I seriously don’t know if it is his honor or his bad luck to look so alike to Mo’s spy, the main reason he was selected to be the undercover besides his excellence in the academy. I never guessed our plan would have such outcome…”
Jessica shook her head. “It’s alright Kevin. I admire Louis’ courage better this way. If he’d been the chicken who saves his own butt, I don’t think I would be so deep into him…”
“You must have enough rest Jess. Don’t…” Niki started but bit back her words.
“Don’t worry about me,” Jessica assured. “I’m a doctor too remember? Anyway Steven is watching over my symptoms. I’m not having hallucinations anymore…”
Kevin and Niki nodded as Jessica disappeared back into Louis’ room.
“Michelle was at a worse state and she’s awake. Louis will wake up soon,” Kevin assured Niki who looked very down. She nodded, trusting his words.
